Weekend Bags? Please Help Me Shop.

I'm looking for a nice weekend bag, preferably about 16 x 14 x 12.

I'm not too picky about style. I like a lot of different colors and patterns.

I don't really know which sites to search. I know NOTHING about purses and bags. I tried Google Images, but I sort of struck out.

What do you use?

Re: Weekend Bags? Please Help Me Shop.

  • I have the Vera Bradley Weekender (linky) and I LOVE it. It is really good quality and fits a lot of stuff. Has handles and a shoulder strap.

  • I got mine at VS. Plus: I get to get new bras in order to get it.

My SIL swears by her stuff. She used one of those as a diaper bag for both of my nieces.

Thanks! I'll check them out tomorrow. I need some new bras too. :)

Bag twins! I second this suggestion. It's super good quality.

I just got it when they had a gift with purchase. They run those a few times a year, so I just waited to buy bras until they had a bag I liked.
  • I agree with the Vera Bradley Weekender! I don't have one, but I've always wanted one. But if you saw my closet, I love Vera Bradley (maybe a little too much ha).

Hey knottie numbers, can you change your name so we can recognize you? I have seen you post a few times, and you changed your location.

  • Thanks for reminding me HuskyPuppy. I tried a couple times and kept getting errors. It worked this time!

  • I can't find my exact one but mine is similar to this. It has a leather bottom which I find way better than Vera Bradley fabric.

I have actually been really shocked how well the Vera fabric holds up. The Weekender I have has a hard bottom, but I have the Large Duffle (linky) which has no structure. It has held up extremely well and use it a ton.

  • VB isn't even really my style, but I bought one of the large duffels on sale once, and it made me a believer. That thing is a beast and my go-to for weekend crap. Works well as a carry on too.

This was me. When I was in college, EVERYONE in my sorority had them and I constantly hated on them. But once I bought the large duffle, I was a beliver.

  • Yeah, I'm not jazzed about the floral/paisley patterns, but I see VB has some plain colors as well.
  • If you've got a VB Outlet lose enough, it might be worth swinging through. The outlets are usually everything 40% off and then they'll run sales on top of that.

My duffel is super bright yellow (it did grow on me after a while), but it was $25 from an outlet.

  • I too was going to suggest VB!
Now I usually overpack and bring a suitcase, but if it's just overnight, I have a Vera bag, the large zippered tote, and the Weekender, which has the strap to hold it on top of rolling luggage.

Close-ish. I live in Chicago, and we have an outlet in Aurora (suburb).

That's where I got mine and it was super cheap. $30, maybe?

I have a big open 31 bag my mom gave me.

It's amazing because I always have a suitcase explosion, and with these bags they are open so I can just dig in there, get what I need and leave the mess.

Obviously these aren't good for flights or anything. I like them when I go to a family members house and I don't care if they see my bra or tampons. They are also good for snacks when you are going somewhere where you want snacks.

I use a real bag for other trips.

  • I have a LeSportsac weekender that I love. There are different sizes and are collapsible, making them great to store. I also throw it in my suitcase for bigger trips in case I buy things.

You can find them all over. If you care less about the pattern, check eBay- older patterns are frequently discounted. I have a medium and an XL both of which I bought cheap in silly colors on eBay for less than half of full price. Amazon and Macy's also have good deals on them.

Oh yes, I have one of these too, and use it for the kids stuff for overnight trips like the Dells and whatnot.
  • Mine is Lacoste and it is indestructible. I bought it more than ten years ago and it is still in amazing condition. I'd definitely recommend seeing if they have any options because I have been dragging this bag everywhere for a decade and it still looks almost new.

  • I have one of THESE, it is AWESOME.. I use it as my carry on with a baggallini purse whenever I fly. I also use it as my beach bag, swim bag, and any other weekend thing I might be doing.. I have had one for 5 years and it's still going strong! It also had a second button so when you aren't using it, you can fold it up, button it together and store it.

  • I'm being dumb with dimensions, but want to say I got a Lululemon bag similar to this and LOVE IT.

These fit shoes and clothes and hair straighteners and make a perfect weekend bag. I take it everywhere. And I don't even do yoga.

(And um I got mine on sale.)

    SITB:

I have two old lululemon bags (like, 8yrs?) and they are freakin great. I do a weekend trip at least once a month, and have tried everything to destroy the ones I have. They are indestructible. Also, the Sweat & Go is just gorgeous!
