Color of Mother of the Bride dress for a Red themed wedding

Hi,

My sister wants to have red colored wedding.  So the bridesmaids dresses will be red.  What color would you recommend the mother of the bride wear?  Black I don't think will be an option for her.

Any color she wants to wear. She doesn't have to wear a certain color within the color scheme.

The MOB can wear whatever color she wants because she is not a member of the wedding party, but rather just a guest.

The others are right that the MOB can choose for herself. 

If the MOB is struggling with it and doesn't want to really clash, I think something floral would be pretty, and maybe something in silver or gray would also look nice, or navy.

Whatever she wants? Whatever she feels most beautiful and comfortable in.

MOB/MOG do not have to follow any colour scheme, its rude to dictate what they wear. If they ask what to wear, offer to go shopping with them and encourage them to find something that they love:)
