The NEW TheKnot.com is launching - Tonight!

Hi all!

I apologize for the short notice, but I wanted to give you a heads up, the new TheKnot.com will be relaunching tonight!

As I stated in the thread on Knottie Tech Help, this should have almost no impact inside the community. The only thing changing will be the community homepage. I will be working late in the office tonight (until about midnight EST) and will be in the office early tomorrow morning, to answer any questions you might have.

Please remember: For a period of time after tonight (apx. 9 pm EST) you will be unable to change your avatars. This feature will come back after the launch, but I have not been given an exact date of when to expect it. I will update you all as soon as I know.

  • Can't access community from mobile.  Other links work.  And it still randomly refreshes and kicks me back a page.

    It's now completely impossible to post, reply, send a message, or edit an existing post using an I Pad.

    The little beige "follow us" banner covers the reply box. 

  • OMG really struggling finding anything! Where has the Not Engaged Yet board gone? In fact, don't bother replying, not sure I will ever manage to find this thread again :-(
  • @lurkergirl @Tami87 Tech is currently working on fixing the link on mobile, should be up soon! I'll let them know about it still refreshing and pushing back a page.

    @nicemarmot On the homepage you can select "See All" under the Browse Discussion Boards, the link should be there. Please let me know if you're not seeing it!
  • FYI, on Chrome, the huge "follow us" bar covers up the "post reply" button. It works better on IE.
  • Mine looks like I am in the Matrix on internet explorer. Not really usable but hopefully that gets fixed.

  • Thanks @holyguacamole79 sending this to tech now. Unfortunately these bugs weren't showing when we were testing, but this will hopefully be fixed shortly.

  • Was the wedding woes board removed? You can't get to it on mobile.

    It seems like there is no way to un-favorite something from the boards (outside of the forums, but tagging images from the knot pages.). When I click on something from the board like a dress, it takes me to all the dresses not the one I clicked on. Then when I click on other things like a hair style, it says the page has gone missing.

  • @drunkenwitch I just updated the homepage so you should be able to go directly to Wedding Woes when you go to forums.theknot.com. Let me know if you're still not seeing it!
  • @morewineplease I believe there's currently a known issue with favorites, I'm not sure if this is it or something else, but I'll pass this feedback along to tech. Thank you!
  • I'm on Chrome--when I maximize the window, everything shows up fine, but when I make my window smaller, parts of the page are cut off (without a horizontal scrollbar available to move over). 


    It's annoying because I have white space to the left, but can't scroll to the right to see my notifications.

    Not a make-or-break issue, but the scaling seems to be a little janky, at least for Chrome.

  • @knotriley I am on a PC, on IE 9. It looks like reddit: when i load chit chat I have to scrolll down about 3/4 of the page before I get to the convos. Everything is left aligned, I can't do love its, and everything is grey. It is terrible looking and the font sizs are crazy.

  • I'm on mobile. No problems with the bar covering the reply for me.

    One big annoyance - before, if I wasn't logged in, I could hit reply on a thread, log in, and then it would take me straight back to that thread. I logged in this time and it took me to the TK homepage. So then I have to go to the menu and search through discussion boards and then threads to find where I was.

    Also, it's really really hard to tell read threads apart from unread threads. They are just barely different shades of greyish-white. I would love it if the contrast on that was boosted.
  • @lovesclimbing that's a bug tech is currently working on, I know that one is annoying, sorry! But they should have a fix soon.

    I'll also let them know about the colors, and see what we can do about it.

  • I posted this in the Tech board topic, but it seems like you're more active on this one @KnotRiley

    Would it be possible to move the notification drop-downs (like the globe and the messages icon) a bit farther in? I have to stretch my page quite wide to be able to see the forums AND the notifications (the other alternative is to just slide right-and-left continually, which is a bit annoying)?

  • Also, when you roll over the top menu bar options (Getting Engaged, Planning 101, etc.), the menu automatically pops open, but when you point your mouse AWAY from the menu bar the menu doesn't automatically collapse.

    So if you roll over it accidentally I then have to click outside of the menu to make the menu go away.
    It's not a big deal, but I just don't see the point of the superfluous clicking.

    This is another annoyance.  I shrink my web page on my laptop all the time, usually so I can watch a TV show at the same time. Before, the left side of the screen, the blank space between the edge of the page and the avatars, would shrink as I shrunk the web page. Now, it doesn't.  So basically, I can't shrink the page as small as I'd like to without cutting off the edge of the wording.
  • @JennyColada I'll try to look into if we can move that. The drop downs seem to be a pretty big annoyance so I'm talking to tech about what we can do about that.

    @lovesclimbing I'm having tech look into, at the very least, adding a scroll bar at the bottom...I just tried on chrome, if you zoom out you can see all of the text in the thread. But it's small, so still annoying. I'll see what we can do!

    And another annoyance: since I was "logged out" (I'm on mobile, so obviously...), I logged in by clicking the "Reply" button, but when I was logged in it automatically directed me to my TgeKnot main page, not the forums or this topic (and honestly, I could even find the forums link from that page so I ended up just using the back button to redirect myself to this topic).

    tl;dr: if a member logs in via the "reply" button, it should automatically redirect them back to the topic after logging in.
  • @JennyColada That's a big annoyance I've talked to tech about, they're working on a fix so once logged in, it redirects you to the page you were just on. Sorry for the trouble it's causing right now!
