MOB Shopping

I went shopping for my dress once while mom was here and it was SUPER overwhelming so I took a month to think, had my MOH come to visit and we went shopping again. We managed to knock out my dress and the BM dresses which was awesome. I called mom to tell her what we had decided and her reaction was priceless.. "That's great you found it sweetie.. OH MY GOSH, I CAN GO SHOPPING FOR MY DRESS NOW!" I just love how excited she is about it, we are still over 10 months out from the wedding!

Anyone else's mom really excited for a little retail time for herself?

  • Haha my mom is taking her sweet time, she's got 5 months, I WISH she was that excited!
  • My mom picked hers up a month or two before my wedding. She was a bit apprehensive since she hadn't worn a dress in a few years.

But she looked and felt great in the dress she picked out!

  • My mom is wearing capri pants and a blouse as she hasn't worn a dress in about twenty years, but she's been absolutely consumed with worry about her shoes. "Do these have too much bling? I don't want to outbling the bride!"

"...mom, I'll be the one in the poofy white dress standing at the front of the room, I think everyone's going to know I'm the bride. Get whatever you want."

She's pretty adorable and I hope she finds something she's happy with. She's been at the mall every weekend for months now, and even though she barely knows how to send an email and has never bought anything online in her life, she keeps asking me which websites I buy shoes on. Too funny.

This is very cute, I wish your mom luck in finding her shoes! My mom used to be not into fashion at all, then years ago I took her for a makeover and now she keeps more up on the trends than I do. Love the bling comment, my mom LOVES bling and I know she will be rocking it on my wedding day which is so her and I'm happy to have her do it.

  • My MIL is adorable.

The wedding is in September. She went shopping in January for her dress and she tried on 40 dresses!

I teased her so much telling her that I am the bride and I didn't even try on 40 dresses.

My mom didn't buy her dress until....it was probably 1 1/2 to 2 months before the wedding! She's super indecisive and didn't want to buy too early and end up changing her mind (My sister and I call her the Queen of Returns and Exchanges). She was still excited to shop but sometimes it was stressful waiting until we were so close to the wedding to actually go. Not that it mattered because we still found the perfect gown for her!

  • MIL sent me a bunch of links to dresses she was looking at. I ended up buying one of them for myself and she ended up going with the same dress she wore for FSIL's wedding, but in a different color.

  • OMG my mom is driving me crazy about her dress. She lives in FL in the winter, but comes up north in the summer and I told her we could go shopping when she gets back (3 months before my wedding). She keeps texting/emailing me ideas and dresses that she has seen. She is obsessing over the fact that my FMIL is a size 0 and how much bigger she is that her. I keep telling her "don't worry you don't have to be in pictures with her!".

MY FMIL is also driiving me crazy. It's taking me awhile to get the BM dresses figured out b/c my MOH was pregnant and literally just gave birth. She is insistent that she must wear a long dress if I go with long BM dresses and a short dress if we go with short dresses. Ummmm...or just go with whatever the F#$% you feel like wearing?

I love them both dearly, but I just don't have time to deal with their dress drama!

Oh that seems intense, I'm sorry! My mom just loves to shop, FMIL is the complete opposite so I doubt she will decide until week of. I just love that my mom is so excited and I'm sure as soon as she gets into the big city to shop I'll get the same thing! It would be hard dealing with the body issues though, I'm so sorry about that.

  • My mom sent me a text a week or so ago (my wedding isn't until NEXT April, lol) asking what I wanted her to wear to my wedding, length, color, etc.

I told her to wear whatever makes her feel pretty and comfortable, and that I'd love to go shopping with her. If she wanted to wear something from my color palette, that'd be fine, but if she feels better in another color, that's A-OK, too. Also, that we have over a year. I'm glad she's so excited about this, though! :)

  • My FMIL has already been worrying about her outfit and I'm not getting married until December 2016! She's been worried about weight loss and being comfortable and everything. My mom, on the other hand, already had one child married off so she's taking her time freaking out until it's much closer.
