Friday Fun

Re: Friday Fun

  • @TwoDimes Wow, the next 6 months are going to be so exciting! Also, you must post a pic of Indy in her little graduation outfit when she's done with school!
@KeptInStitches Those washi tape coasters are AWESOME! Thank you so much for sharing!
@lmcooper86 I am insanely jealous of your bagel. Cinnamon raisin bagels are soooo good!
@minskat30 I loooove spin class. It's seriously the only thing I miss about my gym membership. I'm glad that you enjoy it too!
@bethsmiles I was terrible at makeup until I started watching beauty gurus on YouTube when I was in college. I'm by no means amazing, but I've gotten much better at understanding how to apply everything over the years. YouTube also taught me how to knit. YouTube is amazing.
@GoldenPenguin LOVE that seating board idea!
@ashleybunny8 How did your trip to court go?
@southernpeach89 YAYAYAYAYAY! So excited that the house buying process is going forward.
    @500days Awww I'm sorry you're in a wedding rut. :( What's got you down?
    -----------------------------
No fun plans yet tonight. We may continue being hermits. Tomorrow we're going to brunch with my cousin/MOH and her BF, and then we may do a brewery tour nearby. Depending on how much I drink, we may go home and crash tomorrow night. Sunday we need to run some errands, and then we're having lunch with my parents, little brother, and grandmother to celebrate my step-dad's birthday. I bought him the Game of Thrones books because he recently started watching the show. He's so hard to buy for.

Favorite TV show that's currently on? Toss up between The Walking Dead and Better Call Saul. We also LOVE Game of Thrones, but that's not technically on yet.
Favorite kind of ice cream? Mmmm I can't choose one. I normally get Neopolitan, chocolate, chocolate peanut butter, or something with a cookie in it. Mint chocolate chip is always a favorite too.
What kind of phone do you have? iPhone 6
Are you a morning person or a night owl? night owl, though that seems to be changing as I get older
Do you like amusement parks? Favorite one? LOVE amusement parks! Ummm I guess Six Flags Over Texas because it's closest, and I haven't been to Wizarding World of Harry Potter yet.
What did/will you eat for breakfast today? banana and chocolate PB2, peppermint black tea.
Favorite cheese? Velveeta hahaha I will seriously eat it straight off the block.
    Least favorite house chore? floors.
If you could travel anywhere in the world right now (you have unlimited funds and time), where would you go? The UK
Do you have a makeup routine? Yep, I have a few. I have one for super lazy morning, a standard full face routine, and then a special event with oodle of time routine. Today's makeup is the super lazy one-- eyeliner, mascara, foundation, powder, blush, chapstick. Standard full face is a mix of three eye shadows, eyeliner, mascara, foundation, powder, blush, lip liner, lip stick. The special event one is all of the above with primers and concealers and stuff.

  • @eilis1228 - Youtube is the ultimate teacher of things! I don't have as much trouble applying as I do just picking out the right colors for me. I swear I used to be good at this in high school! I just stopped wearing make-up in college and now it's like I've forgotten everything I knew! I should check out youtube for help though.

  • @southerpeach89 yay on the house so excited for you!

    Anniversary

  • @southernpeach89 - YAY! Congrats, that's fantastic! When's your closing?

@GoldenPenguin - I am planning on doing something similar using old windows from my family's cottage. I need the weather to clear up so we can go get them!

@ashleybunny8 - One of my best friends also doesn't eat cheese. At all. I think it's so weird, but whatever! And I'm glad things went as well as they could yesterday :)

    Wedding Countdown Ticker

  • @lavanderfields13 & @eilis1228 It's just that FI now has some regrets about how much we are spending. He does not want to cut our guest list though. I  also keep on thinking that I'm not doing the planning correctly. It's just a lot of random stuff that has not been super positive- like family members complaining about the 30 min ride to venue, asking if we can pay for hotel rooms, etc. I know it happens to a lot of people during the planning process but I think I'm at my wit's end. We just don't have the money to pay for hotel rooms and a fancy rehearsal dinner. We were planning on taking our wedding party to a pizza place and just do pizza and beer. But apparently that's something to make fun of and not fancy enough. I'm just really sad and frustrated- not how a bride should feel, I guess.
  • @lmcooper86 -The closing date is further out than normal since our lease on our house now doesn't end until May 31st so we are closing on May 1st.
  • @500days - Aw I'm sad for you after reading your last post :( Wedding planning isn't all puppies and rainbows but it shouldn't be so frustrating and sucky, either. My venue was 30 minutes from the hotel we blocked rooms at mainly because the venue was kind of in the middle of nowhere and that was really the only option. We provided shuttles for everyone staying at the hotel (they ended up being free because of how many rooms we had booked). You definitely should NOT have to pay for other people's hotel rooms. That's crazy. Also, do you need to have a rehearsal? I didn't have one and so I didn't have a rehearsal dinner but we did have a decent amount of people (my parents, aunts, uncles, cousins on my mom's side, my MOH, and a few people from H's family) at the hotel the night before the wedding so we invited them all to the suite and I ordered pizza and soda and we also had some wine and beer.

  • Weekend plans:

SO has a "surprise date" planned for this evening, so I'm not sure what the plan is tonight. Tomorrow I have a meeting with a client and then we are helping SO's parents move. Tomorrow night, out with SO and his best friend who is visiting from out of country.  Then Sunday, checking out a new studio space!!

Favorite TV show that's currently on? I don't have tv, so I don't have an answer!
Favorite kind of ice cream? Butter pecan
What kind of phone do you have? iPhone 6 plus
Are you a morning person or a night owl? Night owl!  I HAAAATTTTEEE mornings
Do you like amusement parks? Favorite one? I like them for my kids.  I am terrified of roller coasters, so they aren't really my thing.
What did/will you eat for breakfast today? I had raspberry oatmeal bake, and it was AMAZING
Favorite cheese? Oh Man!  I love cheese so much!  I am currently hooked on this Bellavitano Merlot cheese that is crazy good!
    Least favorite house chore?
If you could travel anywhere in the world right now (you have unlimited funds and time), where would you go? Santorini, Greece, Capri, Bahamas, Thailand, any and all of those!
Do you have a makeup routine?  Only on date night.  I don't wear much makeup during the week.

  • @TwoDimes - Aaaahhh!!! I can't even handle how pretty that dress is!! And how pretty you look in it!

@lavenderfields13 - You are the first person I've seen mention that they've watched Peaky Blinders on here! I love that show! It also helps that Cillian Murphy is one of my celebrity crushes. God, his eyes are gorgeous.

    @southernpeach89 - OMG A HOUSE! Yaaaaay!

@Swazzle - Holy shit, is that a Kurt GIF? I'm not sure I've ever seen Glee show up on this board before!

    -------------------------------------------------

My weekend will consist of me trying my hardest not to be BSC. A couple we know got engaged last night, and she has posted a billion things about it on Facebook already. I'm sure the wedding planning won't be much different. And then BF's brother is supposedly proposing this weekend (the a-hole who ridicules his own GF in public consistently). So once that shows up I'll be going a little psycho on the inside. Luckily I have the new season of House of Cards, and I'm super invested in my new book.

Favorite TV show that's currently on? Brooklyn Nine-nine

Favorite kind of ice cream? Cherry Garcia

What kind of phone do you have? HTC One

Are you a morning person or a night owl? Totally a morning person. I pass out by 10 most nights, but can get up by 7 pretty easily no matter what time I went to bed.

Do you like amusement parks? Favorite one? I LOVE THEM! I'm dying to go. My favorite is Knott's Berry Farm in Cali.

What did/will you eat for breakfast today? Jamba Juice oatmeal with bananas and honey, and a Kale-ribbean Breeze smoothie

Favorite cheese? I promise I'm not trying to sound snobbish, but "cave-aged gruyere". Gruyere is my favorite overall, but if any of you have a chance to try cave-aged, it has these awesome flavor crystals that form in it. Omg, yum.

Least favorite house chore? Folding laundry

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now (you have unlimited funds and time), where would you go? Strengthened by discussions this week, right now my dream is Alaska. Not even a cruise. Just Alaska.

Do you have a makeup routine? Moisturizer, Moisturizer+concealer base, concealer spot covering, powder, eyeliner, mascara

This makes me sad too. I've had some regrets about how much we're spending too. I jumped into wedding planning head first and then when we had put deposits down I got really scared and wanted to stop right, scrap the big wedding and have a small one instead. FI didn't agree. So sometimes I panic a little bit. If he doesn't want to cut the guest list there's not much you can do - that's the expensive part- providing food and drinks for everyone :(

and yeah what @swazzle said about the hotel rooms. Who the hell thinks YOU should pay for their room? That's nuts. Our venue is about an hour + away from most guests' homes. Hotel is 20-25 mins from venue. We're paying for buses for people staying at the hotel to get them to the venue. If people think it's too far then they're not forced to come. I did get a comment when family asked where the wedding would be - "why are you having it in RI??" since we're in Boston. Um because it's the most affordable venue we could find for all the guests we want to invite. Don't like it, don't come.

Also there is NOTHING wrong with pizza for your rehearsal. FMIL really wants to contribute something so she offered to pay for our rehearsal dinner. She's worried about what people will think so she wants it so be very nice but honestly I'd be really happy with pizza. If people want to make fun of that then that's rude.

It's easier said than done but try not to let anyone else's negativity get to you. Whenever I'm feeling anxious I just take a deep breath and tell myself everything is going to be fine, we'll finally be married and it's going to be an amazing day!

I honestly didn't even know who he was before I started watching that. OMG those eyes, they're incredible. I want to name my first born son Cillian but FI says no. LOL

  • @500days - I'm sorry wedding planning is so stressful.  We provided hotel rooms to a handful of guests we knew couldn't afford to come without it (really, really couldn't afford it, as in usually have less than $200 in their bank account) and who we really wanted to come but they certainly didn't ask for it...that would make me sad too.  I would LOVE pizza for a rehearsal dinner, by the way.  If people are making fun of it, screw them.
  • @500days I really can't believe your guests are giving you such a hard time. We aren't planning on paying for hotel rooms (isn't the reception enough of a thank you for those who choose to attend?), and pizza sounds like a great rehearsal dinner! We're paying for the rehearsal dinner too and were planning to do a REALLY cheap Tex-Mex restaurant that's known for being really cheap lol. I just can't imagine people openly complaining about free food.

@500days 30 minutes is not a big deal, people just like to find things to complain about.  As for the night before the wedding, I like what @swazzle suggested.

    @goldenpenguin Love that board!
@ashleybunny8 I'm amazed that you like feta. I'm glad the court appearance went well, and that you looked cute and kept your composure.  Now his last impression of you is that you're happy and don't need him.

Favorite TV show that's currently on? PLL, HTGAWM (even if the season finale was last week), New Girl
Favorite kind of ice cream? Ben & Jerry's Half Baked
What kind of phone do you have? Personal: Samsung Galaxy S5 -- Work: Iphone 5s
Are you a morning person or a night owl? Night owl.  I am not the nicest person in the morning.  Yesterday I had to get up at 5, I crashed around 3. I have no idea how people can get up that early every day.
Do you like amusement parks? Favorite one? Love, but only for the roller coasters.  I don't have a favorite, but the one that brings back the most memories is Great Escape in Upstate New York.  We would go there every summer since it was near my grandparents house.
What did/will you eat for breakfast today? Fruit salad and coffee
Favorite cheese? I have to pick one?  Fresh Mozzeralla, Smoked Gouda, Brie
    Least favorite house chore? Bathrooms
If you could travel anywhere in the world right now (you have unlimited funds and time), where would you go? Unlimited funds then I would travel the world.  I'd visit every country (minus the places that are not female friendly/warzones)
Do you have a makeup routine? BB cream, mascara.  If I'm feeling really fancy, red lips.

They need more roller coasters!! I usually go up there at least once a year, but there's so many little kid rides, and not enough fun fast ones!

@southernpeach89 I've always thought a Peter Rabbit theme would be adorable for a baby room (boy or girl), plus you could display all the Peter Rabbit china we have! <3 Congrats on having your offer accepted! Good luck on the "fun" stuff that happens next!

@Swazzle Good luck at WW tomorrow!

@AlPacina Good luck on not going BSC! Honestly, your friend is nuts for blasting her wedding ideas all over FB anyway.

    @nowittyusername Enjoy your surprise date!

@everyone else I hope you have a great weekend! Sorry I didn't get to you, I joined super late today.

Nothing crazy going on for me this weekend. H and I are going to finish painting (FINALLY) and then we can FINALLY clean up the house and get it back to normal. I bought a new light for our foyer, and a new kitchen faucet because our old one keeps leaking in spite of multiple fixes. I am stupid excited for the faucet because it's the kind with a pull down head so you don't need a separate sprayer attachment or anything!

Favorite TV show that's currently on?  Ummm none right now. :( Maybe when the Outlander series starts back up again!
Favorite kind of ice cream?  Mint chocolate chip (the white mint ice cream with the tiny chocolate chunks in it!)
What kind of phone do you have? The LG G2 I think. It's ok. I miss my Droid 4 with it's slide out keyboard.
Are you a morning person or a night owl?  I'm more of a morning person.
Do you like amusement parks? Favorite one? YES! H and I went to the Six Flags near LA a couple of years ago and that one is my favorite so far. It had so many AMAZING roller coasters!!!
Favorite cheese?  Um all of them? I really like aged gouda though cause it gets all those delicious crystal bits in it!
Least favorite house chore?  I hate folding and putting away laundry.
If you could travel anywhere in the world right now (you have unlimited funds and time), where would you go?  Right this second? Take me to a Pacific island where it's warm and sunny and they have over the water huts!
Do you have a makeup routine? I don't wear makeup on a daily basis so no.

  • @goldenpenguin I agree! And that haunted indoor one is a huge let down.

That one isn't even functional anymore! It's just a giant vacant building :(

  • Thanks guys. It really helps hearing your thoughts on all of it and letting me vent. I just feel like some people had higher expectations for our wedding. My family has been very difficult about the distance and that it is a Friday wedding. The people that think we should pay for their hotel do not have a lot of money (similar to what @minskat30 said).

I might just skip the rehearsal all together. FI's groomsmen are being the assholes about the pizza and beer. They think we are being cheap. A lot of our friends that have had really luxurious weddings so they expect a fancy rehearsal dinner with a newport reception location. I have no idea how they pay for their weddings, it's none of my business anyways. But anyways, thanks for making me feel a bit better about it all.

@goldenpenguin I agree! And that haunted indoor one is a huge let down.

I remember when that ride first opened! There were lines like crazy and my friends and I finally got to ride it and it was such a disappointment.

I was also SO SAD when they tore down the Magical Mystery Ride and put the stupid balloon ferris wheel in its place. The Magical Mystery Ride was my favorite ride at the Great Escape! I'm probably dating myself, but I hope @speakeasy14 knows what I am talking about.

ETA: I know I totally just jumped in. Crazy work day. I will actually respond to everyone later.

    • It's really not just about me, but if that's how you feel I'm sorry. I just could never imagine saying this to someone bc it's rude. If it's too far you just politely decline. That's all I will say for now because it's months away and it's silly to worry about now.
    • Family member:
    • Again, not worried. It's not rude. It's rude to ask folks to drive an hour for an evening event and then to expect them to drive an hour back in the late evening unless you've blocked off hotel rooms for everyone that you're willing to pay for.

AuroraRose41 I do remember that ride!  I honestly have not been there for at least 10 years, so everything I remember is from my childhood through teenage years. I'll totally date myself and say that Alice in Wonderland was my favorite place in the park, even though it wasn't a ride.

@500days What?!?! I am so sorry your family is putting you through that.  Do not give in, you do not need to pay for anyone's hotel room except your own.
