Mint?

Anyone use fresh mint in their arrangements? I'm trying to figure out the best place to get some for my wedding in August, outside of growing it myself. I have more of a brown thumb instead of a green thumb, so I'm not really looking forward to that idea.

Luckily for you, mint grows (and grows and grows and grows) with even the brownest? blackest? of thumbs. If you decide to plant it yourself do it in a pot or something enclosed, otherwise it will escape and try to take over your garden area. The stuff grows using rhizomes and is extremely hard to kill or get rid of permanently.

  • I'm not sure if mint has the greatest shelf life. I would look into that before you put it into your arrangements, or you may end up with a bunch of wilted greens.

  • Are you really super sure about this? Fresh mint smells REALLY strongly, and leaves oil on your hands after you touch it. I personally can't stand it.

  • I personally love the smell of mint, and I would only want a couple stalks of it through out my bouquet, so I'm not too worried about it being overpowering.  But good point on the shelf life. Maybe I can try and find some fake mint? I just love the way it looks.  I attached the picture of what is inspiring this!

I didn't use it, but I love the stuff & really love the idea of using it in the arrangements. Trust me, you can grow it. Plant it in a pot, put it in a sunny spot, and water it. It will grow like a weed.

  • If you love it, go for it!
