The linq highroller

Hey have anyone been on it yet?? Seen great groupon for it...wondering is this something you will do solo with your mate or with bridal party/other wedding guest

Re: The linq highroller

  • I have! I went for a bachelorette party. We went on a Saturday night and were surprisingly able to get our very own cabin (YMMV).

They have a "happy hour" pod you can get where it's all you can drink for 30 minutes.

I think it would work for either. If you do it with you just you and your guy you probably won't be "alone" though. Although who knows, because the LINQ numbers have been a lot lower lately.
  • I went on it with some friends when it first opened. It was really cool!

  • Wow, adverb you must be right about the ridership if they're already doing groupons; usually that's a sign of needing more customers, asap.  I hope to give it a try this summer.

  • Yeah I saw an article recently about how ridership is not what they expect. The groupons have been around a while.

I actually got my ticket for free by playing Blackjack at the LINQ hotel. If you get dealt a suited blackjack (not just a regular blackjack), they give you a ticket for free that you can use at night. But you gotta bet, too. And only at specific tables (they have a sign showing it off).
  • Thanks you guysand wow adverb and vegas groom ridership must be low for real then the giving them away
  • I'll certainly be taking advantage of all these deals :)

We did the groupon - the happy half hour one, just in dec 2014. It was a good deal. I would recommend it, I wouldn't pay full price for it other wise.... I would recommend doing it at night!

  • I think we did a Groupon for the High Roller back in September (2 for 1 or 4 for 2 or something like that), shortly after it opened.

I did it with my mother, grandmother and great aunt (it was a girls' trip). It was a lot of fun, but not a 'arty' experience. My mom loved it much more than the Eiffel Tower; apparently you can see so much more. It takes about a half an hour and it has amazing views. I probably wouldn't do it again right away or as a part of the wedding, but I will recommend it to Vegas newbies who might attend the ceremony.

I would say there has been a groupon for High Roller since it's opened. I think they're charging too much and it is turning people away.

The happy hour ride is awesome!  We did it during the day and each got in 4 drinks.  The liquor was decent too, Sky Vodka/Tangueray Gin.

Both night and day are fun.  The lights at night are really pretty and during the day if its clear you can see for miles.

I wish we had the time to do it with everyone during our wedding weekend, that would have been fun - especially the happy hour car with drinks!

We had our dream wedding at Mirage on May 3, 2014!

  • I kind of want to try it but I'm also a little nervous. How long does it take to get around? I feel like I would maybe feel claustrophobic or trapped. I've heard that it has some really cool views though.
  • Sorry Xoeden, somehow I missed your comment that stated that it takes about 30 minutes.
  • @madisonbh - The pods are very big so you won't feel claustrophobic. Of course, when I went it was just a group of us 10 girls so that certainly helped.

The views are definitely awesome. I went at night, but I kinda wanna go during the day to see the mountains.
  • Great views. Its all glass so you dont fill closed in, unless you get on with a large crowd. I think our pod had about 12 people.

  • No problem-o, @madisonbh.

There were probably 10 to 15 people when I did it, and there was more than enough room to walk, sit around, and just enjoy the views. Daytime would be nice because I'm sure you can probably see for days.

The views are so worth it if you've got a good Groupon or something similar. I Instagrammed a bunch of photos and have a ton more still saved on my phone.

  • Here's some shots I took of on the LINQ at night. That's me for scale. The first one is me sitting. I got a herniated disc so I was SUPER glad to have a seat so I didn't have to stand for the whole time.
