Champagne wedding dress with ivory flower girl dresses?

I'm curious if anyone has seen this before. My wedding dress is a champagne/blush color (here's a picture of it), with ivory lace. In person the champagne color is much more obvious than on the designer's site.

Both flower girls liked this dress from macys which is ivory. Would it look weird if the flower girls were wearing more more ivory/white than the bride? I looked online and found plenty of flower girls in ivory dresses, but none with a bride in a dress color other than ivory or white.

The other option they both liked is this dress (in navy) from Saks, so it's the backup option if ivory is going to look strange. The bridesmaids are in Navy as well so it'd coordinate, but not be a perfect match. I think price-wise the parents prefer the cheaper dress, but both said that either one is fine.

Thoughts? Would ivory look fine? Or is the navy dress safer?

Re: Champagne wedding dress with ivory flower girl dresses?

  • This question has been asked a lot lately.  No, it will not look weird if they are in ivory and you are in champagne with an ivory lace overlay.  Remember, ivory, champagne, white, off white, etc are all neutrals and will go together just fine.

IMO I prefer flower girls in colored dresses.  I have never understood why flower girls are dressed as mini-brides when the rest of the wedding party is happily in a colored gown.  Also, a colored dress, especially navy, is great because it will easily hide any stains that little ones may get on their dress.

  • As Maggie said, neutrals go with all neutrals, so it's not going to clash.

And honestly, this is just my opinion btw, I think it looks kind of boring whenever everything matches perfectly.  Variations of colors add dimension and interest.

Thanks! I'm leaning towards the navy one I think as it stands since I agree with Maggie's comment on ivory/white flower girl dresses.

The flowers will add a whole lot of color too (fuchsia, orange and green), so that should help make everything "pop" more.
  • No, it wouldn't be weird. Even if they wore pure, solid white, it wouldn't be weird. They're children and they're flower girls. It'll be pretty obvious they're not the bride. You could be wearing hot pink and your BMs in pure white. No big deal.

I do agree with PPs though. I like it much more when flower girls wear colorful dresses vs. when they're dressed up like mini brides. I find that tradition really odd.
