Re: Thursday Thoughts

  • There really is a poop ton of stuff going on in here today! Lots of YAYs!

@cocobellaF infection sucks! I hope they get you fixed up right in no time!
@swazzle I'm jealous of your vacays! Please plan one to good ol' Virginia. K thanks.
@goldenpeguin I hate hate hate the envelope wetters. I feel like I either get it too wet or not enough. I tape everything or use glue. Squee for invites!
@cu97tiger I hope you get the baddest leather jacket ever
@southernpeach89 BABY PEACH! I'm so glad it all went well. Did they finger prick the hell out of you? I hate finger pricks with a passion.

I'm nursing a busted up knee today. I fell (call me grace)...well tripped over a table leaf being used as a temporary baby gate...and fell HARD on my knee. Apparently I knocked my whole tibia out of place and have either torn or badly sprained my PCL. My ortho doc could only manipulate it so much, because there's a large bruise and scrape right where he'd have to put his thumbs to check for sure. So, I'm rocking my old lady cane for at least a few weeks :(

  • @beanbot2002 I had a finger prick my first appointment but this one they drew around 5 viles of blood. I was like, "STOPPPPP" I hate getting my blood drawn.

@beanbot2002 Healing vibes for your poor knee! You'll get through it!

  • @cocobellaf I hope your infection heals quickly! Sending lots of hugs!

@beanbot2002 I hope you feel better soon!

@southernpeach89 baby peach looks adorable! I'm glad that it (not using he or she until we know for sure, but I am also predicting she) is healthy and developing well!

There are so many good things going on in this thread that I don't want to bring the mood down again, but the coworker's funeral is this afternoon. We got an email about it last night, and FI and I will probably end up going. Fortunately my afternoon is free, because this is going to be a rough day. There is also a remembrance ceremony during lunch, and the meeting this morning went better than I expected, but there was an announcement made at the very end about the services today and everyone looked on the verge of tears. It was a very somber mood.

I do have some good news I guess though. FI and I had a more in depth discussion about what we want for our honeymoon, and I have some more direction. He wants something where we can relax and not have a schedule, but go and explore at our leisure if we get bored just laying by the beach/pool/etc. He also doesn't want an all inclusive, because he wants to explore the local area and eat at some of the local favorites outside of where we are staying. With that in mind, I am thinking either the Bahamas (just not an AI; maybe somewhere on Long Island, Bahamas which is supposedly friendly and easy to explore), or Hawaii. Has anyone here been to those? (Also, thinking about exotic locations is keeping me from bawling at my desk, so that's why I have been really looking into it again).

  • @AuroraRose41 I've been to Hawaii a few times. It's really easy to explore, and it's beautiful 365 days of the year. I highly recommend it. I've only stayed on Kauai, but my parents went to Maui a few years ago and loved it. Each island has its own feel-- Kauai is every small town-ish but super cute, and my parents said Maui was very commercialized. I think the big island is like a giant ranch basically. The only downside to Hawaii is the super long flight and time change. Going there is fine, but coming back, the jet lag always knocks me on my butt.

  • @eilis1228 Since FI and I live in a city, we would prefer a more small town feel but still with lots to do, so I was considering Kauai! Also because you can go tubing through the sugar plantation there, which sounds like a blast! Where did you stay on Kauai?

And fortunately it is a much shorter flight back than it would be getting there, so that should help with the jet lag for us (we would be flying from NY and back to San Diego).

  • I'm with @Swazzle ... @beanbot2002, you need to bedazzle that cane like WHOA!
  • @AuroraRose41 My parents have a timeshare at the Marriott: http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/lihhi-kauai-marriott-resort/. It's beautiful! There are some really good restaurants on property, and it's within walking distance of a cute little shopping center. Anything on the island is a short car ride away, too. Very easy to get around. Last time I was there, we went to a nice restaurant at one of the plantations... I think it was Gaylords? We also went ziplining. Ah, it was so much fun.

  • OMG @swazzle YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS! It's kind of boring. Well...it's got purple flowers and the handle isn't padded. I think I'm gonna make FI take me to CVS to get a padded one with the 3/4 prongs at the bottom. This fucker right here is messing up my back. I'm probably putting too much weight on it/relying on it too much, but if I put more weight on my leg than I am, it hurts like hell and my knee gives out. :( Boooo
