Friday the Thirteenth :-|

edited March 2015 in Not Engaged Yet
Happy Friday!!!

What's everyone got going on for the weekend?

I don't think I'm doing anything tonight, other than trying to shorten the tulle skirt I bought to wear to my bridal shower (in 2 weeks!!!!!) to make it look slightly less silly on me. Pictures below.

Tomorrow I'm going back to FedEx to print my invitations, since there was an error the last time I went (NEWSFLASH - "Wedding" doesn't end in a "D" :-( ) Then I'm babysitting my friend's toddler for a few hours. FI and I might go out after that.

Sunday I'm determined to make FI try on some wedding bands someplace, and I also really need to do my taxes. I think I owe about $1250 due to a bunch of different annoying factors. I've been told that I can set up a payment plan for it. Does anyone have experience with that? Can I file on Turbo Tax or a similar site, elect to not pay right then and there, and then fill out the IRS form requesting a payment plan? Or do I have to file differently? I'd appreciate any info if anyone has it!

Re: Friday the Thirteenth :-|

  • Dammit! You must have posted a millisecond before me!

  • Morning and happy Friday!

Not much on the agenda for tonight. H and I will likely start working on the dining room chairs we bought.

Tomorrow, I have so much to do! I have WW first thing in the morning and then my new couch is being delivered between 9-11 so while I'm waiting around for that, I'm going to get some cleaning and organizing done around the house. I need to clean out the linen closet and the front porch and I might start prepping the guest rooms to be painted. The previous owner hung something on literally every available wall space in the whole house so there's a ton of nail holes that need to be handled.

Sunday will probably be more work on the dining room chairs. We might even get them finished this weekend which would be awesome. I'm so ready to start hunting for the rest of the living room and dining room furniture now!

    Goooood morning!

I am super excited because I have NOTHING actually scheduled for this weekend. There's stuff I need to do, but I don't actually have to be anywhere at any particular time...except dinner tonight but whatever.

Tonight FI and I are going out for dinner with his parents, and then we might try to meet a couple friends for a movie. Tomorrow morning FI has hockey, then we'll have delicious breakfast together, and then I have a bunch of errands that I need to run. I should also try to get a haircut, because it's getting sort of out of hand. No plans for tomorrow night. Sunday is morning church, family time, evening church.

At some point this weekend I need to go through my wedding stuff and make sure that I've printed all of our contracts and deposit confirmations and stuff, and make sure that our budget is still looking good. And we have a few things that we need to look into, like a cake toppers and favours and stuff. But for once, nothing major to do!

@Swazzle - Did you post a picture of these chairs yet? I can't remember.

@Hummingbird125 - I think you COULD get away with not changing the skirt, if you wore the right top and shoes, but I see what you mean about it being long. Are you going to try to hem it, or do something with the waistband to bring up the length?

  • Morning and happy Friday!

Tonight FI and I are going to gather our tax documents so we can drop them off with our tax accountant. Mostly that means printing our W-2s - we don't get anything in paper copies anymore. Damn paperless initiatives.

Tomorrow I have my first bridal shower! It's with FI's family, and it will be the first time our mothers are meeting.

Sunday I'm hoping to polish off my presentation for orals and maybe work on place cards and how I'm going to color-code them for the entrees.
  • Good morning!

I think that skirt is so cute, @Hummingbird125!  I would love to have a tulle skirt!

I am so glad it's Friday, it's been a long week.  I'm working until noon, and then H is going to take me grocery shopping.  The LOFT Outlet is having a 50% off sale, so if I feel up to it, we might go do that, too.  But we'll see!

Tomorrow we're going to see Jason Alexander in concert and try out a new Neopolitan pizza place.  Can't wait.
  • @hummingbird125 I love that skirt! I don't know if I told you yesterday.

    @swazzle -Yay for new couch!

@Keptinstitches -Have fun at your bridal shower!

Tonight I'm home alone because DH is going on a field trip that is usually overnight but he is coming home late instead of staying overnight so I might just cook myself dinner and watch movies.

Tomorrow morning we have our inspection on our new home. I'm kind of excited/nervous about that. I'm just hoping that everything is ok. After that I'm taking Maddux to the vet for a routine checkup and DH is going back to work at his part time job already. It's crazy to me that there are only a couple months left of school.

Sunday I don't think we can any plans as of yet, I hope the weather is nice.

@Hummingbird125 - Your skirt is adorable! I could never pull something like that off.

This weekend is going to be pretty busy. I don't have much today (it's my short day at work) so I'm planning to organize the nursery a bit, get the house cleaned and maybe even take a nap.

Tomorrow morning H and I are going to a breastfeeding class. We weren't going to sign up originally, but a couple friends have suggested it, so we thought it couldn't hurt. Then we're going to walgreens for Tdap vaccines, because apparently we're both supposed to get those before the bay gets here. Hopefully we'll also hit up Costco because we're in dire need of TP and a couple other household items.

Saturday H is doing breakfast with the guys and I'm going to a girlfriend's baby shower. We're both hoping to be home by 3 for a little down time and then we're heading out for Japanese food with another couple. They're due March 28th, so this may be the last time we see them before we all have babies! We'll have to celebrate our last night out!!

Oh - and I found a pair of maternity jeans on clearance at target for only $10 last night...so i'm actually feeling pretty awesome. No way was I going to spend $30+ on a pair of jeans I may get 7 more weeks out of!!

    ETA -

@KeptinStitches - hope the meeting of the moms goes well at the shower!

@Swazzle - Yay for decorating, painting and new furniture! I miss the decorating days of my condo. I need a new canvas!

  • @Swazzle - I can't wait to see how your chairs turn out and how they look with your table! And I REALLY can't wait to sleep on - I mean "see" - your new couch!!

@lmcooper86 - I just think that the slightly-below-the-knee length is awkward on me. I want it just above my knees. I'm just going to cut it. I have super sharp scissors and will hope for the best. I got it on sale and my mom actually bought it for me, so if I totally screw it up at least I haven't wasted any money on it. We'll see!

@KeptinStiches - Have fun at your shower! I hope you get ALL THE THINGS!!!

    @CocoBellaF - I feel like I'm a kid playing dress-up in it - but it's fun! Get one!

@Southernpeach89 - Thanks! Good luck with your inspection! I'mm keep my fingers and toes crossed that everything goes smoothly.

  • @speakeasy14 - I got in to the doctor yesterday.  I can't remember if I shared already (darn pain pills) but I'm having a bad reaction to the internal stitches, causing an infection.  It'll clear up in a few days when the stitches dissolve but until then, I'm out of luck.  They did switch my pain pills and I'm much happier with them (less side effects), so I'm doing alright now.  I'm sleeping a couple hours at a time, so that's a great improvement!!

@TwoDimes - Sounds like you have a fun weekend planned with your puppy!
  • @TwoDimes - I LOVE your floral inspiration pics. Your wedding is going to be so beautiful!

@CocoBellaF - I'm glad you're feeling better and able to get some more sleep. It's amazing what a difference new meds can make.

  • @TwoDimes -ooo I love those flower combinations!
  • CocoBellaF You're allowed to be forgetful.  That's why I asked how you were feeling. Ugh, hopefully the infection goes away, I can't even imagine the pain/discomfort.

  • @TwoDimes - Your inspiration pics are gorgeous!

@speakeasy14 - I've never even heard of that but OMG I just looked it up and there's one 5 minutes from my house! I am totally going there this weekend! Thank you!

  • @labro - Please send your nice weather north a little bit! The only baby shower I was ever involved in was my cousin's. She was due at the end of June and we had her shower in the middle of May. Maybe push it to the end of July so it's not too early but the weather is still ok?

  • @Labro - Most showers i've been to have been about 3-4 weeks out from the due date. To me, that's cutting things really close. I think 6-8 weeks out is perfect. Mom-to-be has a big enough belly for everyone to oogle...and she'll get items early enough that she'll still have time to figure out what else she needs to get before baby arrives. Plus, she's still feeling well enough to enjoy the shower (hopefully!) My showers are planned for 3.5 & 2.5 weeks out from my due date and I wish they were a little earlier.
  • I'm with @allusive007 on the baby shower...  I think 6-8 weeks in advance would be perfect!

@allusive007 I was hoping you'd weigh in! You mentioned your friends shower for this weekend and her due date being March 28th and I thought WOAH that's super close, she could go in to labor any second! And then I worried about my idea not being a good one....that maybe there was some sort of weird etiquette around shower timing?

@Swazzle Maybe first weekend in August then. I'm planning on being in NY for a wedding from July 22 through the 28th so H and I can do some sightseeing and hopefully see some NEYers.

  • @Labro - The shower and the due date I mentioned today are for 2 different ladies. Sorry if that was confusing! That would be crazy close!!

Friend 1 is due March 28th and her shower was March 7th (3 weeks out).

Friend 2 is due June 7th and her shower is March 15th (11 weeks out, but planned this way so her out of state sister could attend).

My due date is April 11th and my showers are April 4th (3.5 weeks out) and April 11th (2.5 weeks out).

  • @Hummingbird125 - I know exactly what you mean, I generally feel like I have the same issue. I think with heels the length would be okay, but I would probably want to shorten it as well. It's super cute though, I want an excuse to buy one! And I agree with @labro, I think because it's tulle and it's pleated and flowy you should be fine if the cut isn't exactly 100% straight.

    @Swazzle - I like 'em, that'll be a nice contract once they're painted/stained.

@TwoDimes - Love your flower inspiration, especially the sort of breakaway-style in the second photo. I think we're going to do something like that on our guestbook and seating chart tables.

@labro - One of my girlfriends was due at the end of October and we had a shower for her...mid-September I think? Late July is probably fine for timing?

  • @Hummingbird125 that skirt is gorgeous!!!

Not a lot today, I have off from my full time job so I'm helping my friend out at her store for some extra cash but that's about it. I started my closet spring cleaning project yesterday and I now I have a gazillion hangers that I don't need, and I will be donating A LOT of clothes this year. I have accumulated so much and I don't need half of what I have so it's gonna be so nice to get rid of it all! Then who knows what I'm gonna get into. I'm really in a "throw it all away" kinda mood lately.

I am really thankful I'm not working at my real job today because we have a distract manager and regional director visit today and my boss always goes CRAZY and she's already texting me that I somehow didn't order enough food when I was sure I did and triple checked. I'm really tired, I love my job but I am always criticized when I don't deserve it. It's very rare that I get a good job. I could deep clean everything and instead of a thank you I'd just be reminded I forgot one little thing. I can't wait to graduate so I can get out of that and either start my own business or get into a corporate position. Ok I guess that turned into a little bit of a vent lol oops!
  • @hummingbird125 Yes, you can set up a payment plan through Turbo Tax but it may still be that you need to actually print and mail the forms, I don't for certain if they set it up yet to do it electronically when doing a payment plan. I guess it would vary state to state. I love the skirt!

So far we have no plans for the weekend and I am OK with that. I lost another pound this morning (bringing my total to almost 6 pounds in a month! Only 8 more to go to hit my goal, yea me!) and have been saving calories this week to go out for a burger so I think we will do that but we live in the a city that celebrates St. Patrick's Day in a big way so we may have to go early or on Sunday.

  • Eeek! Friday the 13th! I totally forgot.

@hummingbird125 I know FI is on a payment plan with IRS. He owes tax from not keeping track of all of his 1099s, but he should get a return this year and will be able to settle. When he filed his taxes last year he called IRS and asked to be put on a payment plan. They sent him all of the information to fill out in the mail. It was a fairly easy process.

Tonight I have a girls' night planned. We're just going to chat, eat chicken tacos and drink sangria. I definitely need a night like this after this week at work. We're basically done teaching for the year and will be testing for the rest of the year. It's so bogus. If you hear people bitching about the PARCC test- they have good reason to be pissed.

Saturday will be lounging, grocery shopping and maybe some wedding crafts? By crafts I totally mean cutting my table numbers and putting them in their frames. I need to research ideas for escort cards or if I should make a seating chart. Has anyone found one way to be cheaper? I'm trying not to spend excessive money on decor, since FI is wanting us to keep it simple.

Sunday I will have to prepare for PARCC by watching some videos and making sure all of the student accounts are ready to go. Work will definitely suck next week because we can't use any technology- no cell phones, no lap tops, not even an ipod are allowed in the building. I hate test security.
  • @TwoDimes - I love your flower inspiration pics! So pretty!

@Hummingbird125 - That skirt is so cute on you!

I'm so glad it's Friday! This week really dragged on for me. I have no big plans for the weekend but I do think I will do some job hunting. My paycheck today left something to be desired for a job I'm not a fan of. I figure if I might as well look and see what's out there.

  • labro 1-2 months prior to the due date is when I've been to baby showers.  The closer to the due date the more difficult it is for the mom to be to travel.

@swazzle You're welcome, my mom's fiancee told me about them. And I completely forgot about it till your post!  Just so you know, all the employees are habitat for humanity volunteers so they do not deliver or help you load your car.
    image
  • @labro - I agree with PPs. Most showers I have been to or hosted were 1-2 months before the due date. Late enough to enjoy the big belly, but not too close to the due date to where the mom to be would be too uncomfortable or risk missing it due to early labor or something.

    -----------------------------

I've got no weekend plans. It's supposed to be mild and rainy, which is my favorite hiking weather. Might try and get outdoors.

We finished Friends last night. 10 seasons in less than 2 months. Woo! Now we have a new season of Archer, then I'm hoping I can convince BF he wants to watch Bates Motel.

  • @Hummingbird125 - You're not very tall, right?  I'd agree with cutting it a little shorter.  Since I'm small (4'10"), right at the knee is the best length for me.  Midi skirts look awful!!  Some smaller ladies look best with a skirt length right above the knee, but my personal preference is right in the middle of it.  I might have to hunt down a tulle skirt now!

Some of my favorite tulle skirt looks!
