Do I have to ask what his last name is?

in Wedding Invitations & Paper
FH has a buddy.  Buddy has a girlfriend.  Girlfriend has a kid.  I'm guessing that Kid has his dad's last name.  Do I have to know it for the invitations or can I just put his first name on the invitation?

    I would never assume someone's last name.

    But no you don't really need the kids last name.

    Address the envelope as such...
    Ms. Jane Smith
    Mr. John Doe
    Kid

    Ditto Maggie. His last name doesn't need to go on the invitation.
