Are you getting sample size or full size items? I am hesitant to pay for the beauty boxes knowing that I can get free samples when I place a Sephora order. Why would I want to pay for smaples?

The samples I'm getting in my Allure box are like deluxe sized samples. . . much bigger than anything you can get for free from Sephora.  They are like travel sized products.

  • This site seems to have pretty good reviews of many of the Beauty boxes and several other types too: http://www.mysubscriptionaddiction.com/

  • I used to do Ipsy, but I felt like I was getting the same things every month, so I went back to Birchbox. I've actually been much happier with Birchbox than I was with Ipsy, which is against the norm, it seems like. And like Lolo said, I still have a million little bags all over the place.

i have been wanting to try jamberry nails style box, stitch fix and ipsy. whats holding me back is money right now.

Have you used jamberry nails before? If not, I can tell you they are a pain in the ass. They didn't stay on for me and would catch on my hair all the time. They also look like stickers when on. It did help me quit biting my nails for awhile, but now I'm back at it.
yes i have used them, had some issues at first but got the application down and dont have to many issues. they arent go everyone i know that for sure, i get complements on mine.

  • I did birchbox for a while.. But they don't do a very good job with personalization. I set my profile to straight fine hair, and fair, sensitive skin - and basically got a box of anti-frizz products and dark foundation.

BoxyCharm is full sizes. And you get 3-4 full sizes for $20 a month.

  • I have an ipsy subscription and I love it for the most part. I'm in Canada so instead of the 9.99 everyone else pays, I pay $19.99 with shipping and everything so it kind of sucks... but I haven't had to physically go out and buy make up for a while.

Also, for you new ipsters (yes, that's what we have been named), if you go to review your products, people are willing to trade the stuff they don't want for stuff you don't want so that's awesome :)
  • I have had Birchbox for over a year (automatic renewal got me), and I like/love it. Depends on the box. I can say it has definitely gotten better the longer I have had it. What I love is that is introduces me to higher-end products that I would never buy full-size without trying. After this year with Birchbox ends, though, I am switching over to Ipsy. I am a bit concerned about having shit-ton of bags to contend with, though.
  • You guys talked me into it, I just signed up for the ipsy bags. And  I did all that annoying share/invited my friends on facebook so I could 'bypass' what I'm sure is their imaginary waiting list.

Now that you've done it you can delete it off your wall - I did lol

Set the privacy settings to "Only Me" so nobody else sees it. That's what I do with anything that forces me to allow them to post.
Another genius tip from lolo. You make my life better!

  • My mom buys me ipsy, thanks mom! I like it and keep all the cute bags.

  • Guys, I think I want that Unbound box. Makeup + high-grade medical silicon personal toys? Hell to the fucking yes.

I'm NOT going to Google that one from work ;-)

  • I LOVE ipsy! So far there has only been one product that I disliked enough to not use (a lipstick in a REALLY weird color). Generally there are one or two products a month that I LOVE.

Mine is usually like 2-3 makeup items, 1-2 haircare items, and occasionally a skincare or perfume item.

The only thing I don't like is the bags. They're pointless... I don't need 100 cheap makeup bags lying around. I keep one or two cute ones and throw the rest away.

  • The Julep box looks interesting. I really don't want to get a bunch of drugstore samples, because I feel like having things I can run out and grab willy nilly shipped to me would be a slight waste of time. Little bottles of nail polish with a side bit of makeup? Possibly more my style.

I got so sick of Julep so fast. I just don't need that many nail polishes. So many of them are super similar, I did Julep for a year and probably have like 3-4 pale purple/lilac nail polishes now. One is more than enough.

Depends on the product. My Ipsy bag this month had full sized lipstick, highlighter pencil, and eyeshadow (full price on the eyeshadow was $22!), a travel-sized conditioner (small, but probably 3-4x sephora sample size), and a travel-sized moisturizer. I think every bag I've ever gotten has had at least two full sized items.

  • I'm now stuck in an internal conflict as to whether to tell FI that I'm now spending $10/month on make up samples, or to just let it go until the first box comes, and when he asks say, "Oh that? It's just some free makeup samples." I mean technically that's not lying.

And just fyi, no he probably wouldn't mind that I'm doing it, I've just been bitching a lot lately about saving money lol

I don't know how your relationship/finances work, but I dont feel the need to tell H about/get permission for $10 purchases. That being said, I would never lie to him about it... they aren't free.
