Father of Bride- suit

Hi All,

I do not care what color suit my father wears- I just want him to be happy, comfortable and feel like he looks good.  But that's not enough info for my dad, lol.  He wants me to tell him what to wear...  so since I really do not care, I figured I'd ask the pros

The groom and groomsmen will be in grey suits with grey vests and purple ties.  Should my father wear grey as well?  Couldn't he also wear a black suit and perhaps rock a purple tie if he wants to match a little?   

Does it really matter?? (lol).  Thanks for your help!

Does your Dad own a suit/suits?  If so, what colors?  If he already has a black suit then tell him to wear black and you could always get him a nice tie you think will look good on him.

But in the end, it really doesn't matter what he wears.  If he matches the formality of your event (and even that doesn't always happen) and is comfortable then that is all that matters.

Ask your mom to find his best looking suit and tell you what color it is. Then tell him you want him to wear that color.

Black suit is totally fine. My dad wanted me to pretty much pick out his suit so I just picked the same color that H was wearing. He didn't already own a suit though and was so worried about "matching". Had he already owned a suit that was black/gray/navy blue, I would've just had him wear that and bought him a tie that complimented the wedding colors.

This. Exactly this. Unless he lives alone, in which case I guess just ask him.
