H lets me have at least one night a week to sleep in the bed by myself. I always sleep better when it's just me so he goes and sleeps on the couch. Last night was that night and I feel SO much better today than I did yesterday.

 

He'll probably walk the dog tonight as well, even though evenings are my responsibility. It's really cold here again and snowing so he'll probably take the pup out so that I don't have to face the awful weather. He's far too good to me.

He left me a big ass note this morning reminding me to bring the leftover corned beef and cabbage to work for lunch. Selfless move, since he could've scored it for himself had I forgotten it.

Oh, and he gives the Bean a nice little pep talk every night before bed, reminding her of all the reasons she should stop being breech and head south as soon as possible. 

I think I'll keep him .

I think my husband can read my mind, at least when it comes to food. 

Yesterday I got a text from him before lunch: ".... wanna go to Taco Bell?" (Yes, like Karen in Mean Girls.) Heck yeah I did. And the week before that, he came home with a cup of ice cream. Just what I'd been craving. 

I'll keep him!

I've been a useless, tired sack of shit lately. Everyone warned me about morning sickness, but my major issue is fatigue. My eyes are droopy at like 7pm lately.

DH as been doing all the laundry, running errands, all the house stuff, making meals, asking if I need anything, running out and getting stuff if I even mention that something maybe might sound good... He's been awesome.

I had some car trouble this week, and FI had to take it to the shop to have it worked on.  Then he dropped it off for me at my work after it was done, and just let me know all was good with the car.

When I came out from work to leave for the day, he had washed and armor all'd my car and wheels.  When I asked him about it he said, yea I had an extra long lunch break today and I had time so I did it... So sweet.

He really is such a hard worker. His dedication to his clients impresses me greatly. We're leaving for vacation, and he's working crazy long hours right now to get as much done for the client as he can. And this is after he gave the client weeks notice that he'd be away. The client totally dragged their feet and waited until the last minute. 

When our friends ask him how married life if, he says, "It's amazing. I'm so in love and I have the best wife ever." Awww.

I love these kinds of threads! V looked over my calculus hw and left sticky notes all over it telling me whether I was right or wrong. Then he would explain why and show his work. Its awesome he would do all of that since its not eveh his work. Also he sent up all the breakfast this morning, including muffins, bacon, and coffee! And he washed all the dishes, he is awesome.

I don't have a partner but I do have a friend brag:

My friends have been AMAZING during this time.  They make sure I'm staying busy, they are trying all these weird things with me like painting, putting up with me in the brief moments I get sad, bringing me wine, encouraging me to go out.  It's been really amazing to see what an excellent support system I have.

I also have a family brag.  I went and spent 4 days with just my sister in law because my brother was out of town and i needed to get out of NY.  My parents were nice enough to buy my plane ticket and she and I had a great time.  

Also all of you ladies on here have been fantastic.  There have been nothing but kind words, encouragement and laughter from you all and I love it.  Plus I've gotten to meet one of you and hopefully will meet more!

It is the small things! When we just flew home from vacation, DH had a migraine the entire 5 hour flight and 1 hour customs line. He just wanted to get home so badly when we got to the car. He pulled over at our traditional after-vaca-empty-fridge- rest stop. I ordered and she asked any other meals, I said yes and pointed to him. He said no, I don't feel good. So I felt bad and tried to get mine to-go, but it's a chicken/ mac & cheese place so I would not have been able to eat it in the car. Even though he felt sick, he knew I was starving, and he insisted that I sit down there and eat it instead of wait the 45 minutes drive home. It's small but it was very nice of him!

I had a hell on wheels week on the road week before last.  Flew on a plane Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri, Sat., Tues.  Hit the ground on Tuesday night after a 3 hour delay due to snow/ice/whatever and walked into a chilled bottle of Veuve, flowers, and homemade chicken & dumplins, the only dish he knows how to make.  I burst into tears and I'm NOT a crier.  

I don't need these grand gestures every time I get home from a trip (it would get old for him real quick since I fly every week) but he just sensed that particular week was really tough on me and I love him for it.

DF let me sleep in this morning. He knows how exhausted I've been. We had to sleep on the floor in JFK sunday night because our flight was delayed, and I really never caught up on sleep. It was so nice to stay in bed until 8:30.

He also cooked me dinner last night while I was working late.

Even though we've been together for three years, I am still a little worrier when it comes to FI job.

Being a nervous flyer, and not fully understanding HOW planes fly, the fact that he flies planes for a living still makes me think all the bad things now and then.

Because of this he has always promised to text me when they are about to take off and once they are landed. And he always makes sure that I know approximately the length of a trip. I've always been so grateful that he is understanding of my paranoia and is willing to do this because I know a bunch of his co-workers would probably tease him about 'checking in'

The other day he had an over night flight to this middle of no where, in the mountains, small reserve town where there was no internet and no phone reception. He was going to be gone for 40 hours with no way of telling me that he even arrived safely. I tried so hard to play it cool and tell him it was alright, I would deal etc.

2 hours after he takes off I get a call on my cellphone from an unknown number. He had gotten permission from dispatch before he left to use the 'obscene amount of dollars a minute Satellite phone' in order to call me to let me know he arrived safely.

Yup. I am keeping him.

FI recently got laid off. He could get away with sleeping in, but I am not a morning person at all. He has still been waking up early to make me coffee before waking me up.

Also I have been having a really hard time dealing with a bunch of drama with my parents. He has been amazing making dinner on nights that I end up on the phone comforting one of my sisters. The stress has gotten so bad that with all of it that I have literally been getting sick from it. This morning he drive me to work since I was worried I was going to throw up again.

I've had an insane few weeks at work. Fi generally takes care of me but went above and beyond this week by assembling a spreadsheet with all of our guests' names, addresses, and number of invitees. He even texted my friends I didn't have addresses for. He mailed our envelopes to the calligrapher and he's handling sending the list to her, too. This is even more impressive because he has social anxiety so texting my friends must have been really scary for him. He's amazing.

It was!  It's so cute, he gets out the rolling pin & makes the dumplins himself.  I can get you the recipe - it uses rotisserie chicken which is a little cheat but makes it more practical for a weekday meal.

My FI does so many little things that it warms my heart of a regular. 

I always forget a towel in the morning and the other day was no different.  But when I got out of the shower a towel was there waiting for me, he knew I would forget so he put one in the bathroom for me. 

I have not had to clean off my car from snow once with all the snow we've had. 

I have a bad back and he offers to rub it for me almost nightly, even when he is exhausted himself. 

I could go on and on... But it is the little things.

Ingredients

• about 3 cups cooked chicken
• 6-8 cups chicken broth
• 2 cups flour
• 2 Tbs. butter
• ½ tsp. baking powder
• salt to taste (I just shake some in)
• about a cup of milk, maybe a bit less

Instructions

1. In a bowl, combine the flour, baking powder and salt. Cut the butter into the dry ingredients with a fork or pastry blender. Stir in the milk, mixing with a fork until the dough forms a ball.
2. Heavily flour a work surface. You’ll need a rolling pin and something to cut the dumplings with. I like to use a pizza cutter. I also like to use a small spatula to lift the dumplings off the cutting surface.
3. Roll the dough out thin with a heavily floured rolling pin. Dip your cutter in flour and cut the dumplings in squares about 2″x2″. It’s okay for them not to be exact. Just eye ball it. Some will be bigger, some smaller, some shaped funny.
4. Use the floured spatula to put them on a heavily floured plate. Just keep flouring between the layers of dumplings. If they will be cooked soon, this method works well. If I’m going to cook them later in the day I layer them on a cookie sheet with wax paper between and lots of flour. You can also freeze them like this and then transfer them to a ziplock bag.
5. To cook them, bring the broth to a boil. Drop the dumplings in one at a time, stirring while you add them. The extra flour on them will help thicken the broth. Cook them for about 15-20 minutes or until they not doughy tasting. Add the cooked chicken to the pot and you’re done!

***Our cooking notes: 

- FI says to use all the broth (8 cups instead of 6) and the full cup of milk.

- He also says to liberally use flour when rolling out the dumplings if they are sticky, which helps thicken the broth.

- We use a rotisserie chicken (skin removed, usually eaten by me, which is horrible, I know but I can't help myself) b/c it has great consistency, extra flavor and is easy to prepare.

- I've also experimented by adding an egg to the dumplin' dough (b/c I'm Italian!) and we liked it. It yields a slightly glossier dumplin'. 

- Finally, and again my Italian touch, I sprinkle chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley to bring some green and I serve it with dried chili flakes b/c I eat them on everything.

DH has started sending me cute animal pictures via e-mail every day because he knows how stressed I've been trying to deal with one of my students.

He also let me sleep in on Sunday - for once, he got up to feed the cats on the weekend. Granted, this was in part because I had been complaining last week about how I'm always the one to do it, but still :-)

H started a new job 3 weeks ago that is drastically different. Including he works from home now. At his last job he was gone 12+ hours a day and often 6 days a week so almost all household chores fell on me. I was going to wait a few weeks for him to get into the groove of his new job before I started asking him to help around the house more but within the first few days I have been coming home to big sections of the deck/driveway shoveled, dishes done and bed made!!! 

This is giving us a lot more time together which is great, but does disrupts my schedule of having 2-4 hours after work to do whatever I want, including having someone over for a bit. My dad has come over for dinner 2 times in the last 2 weeks and H has hung out with us the whole time and has even kind of stolen the conversation with my dad lol. All of which is great I am just used to have a lot of 1 on 1 time with my family members!

FI is the most kind, generous, caring man I've ever known. 

I get flowers delivered to work just about once a month - big, nice arrangements. 

He makes my coffee for me every morning.

He cooks dinner every night.

I get foot rubs a couple times a week.

He puts my medicine on me every day (I think this is just because he likes looking at me naked)

He fixes things that I break (like my bumper that I half popped off backing into the garage - he took one look, and snapped it right back into place)

He is endlessly patient with me

He keeps trying to rush how many weeks we have left when people ask, because he can't wait to marry me.

Also, when H comes in the bathroom to poop when I'm getting ready in the morning, he always does a courtesy flush.
