Rainy Thursday, but a short work day for me!

I'm leaving work early today, and I have 0 motivation....... Just like yesterday, but oh well!

When I leave, I have to take a dress back to anthropologie, the one I mentioned here a week or so ago....It makes me look huge, I have ultimately learned my lesson that a-line dresses do not work for me.

Then I'm getting my eyebrows threaded...ouch, and then getting a spray tan just because.  (I scored a free one a few months back and haven't used it yet. )

How's your Thursday?

  • Boo! I don't get to leave early today, but I'm looking forward to a deskercize workshop I'm attending this afternoon. This will be my third attempt to attend. The first time it was cancelled, and the second time there was some kind of crisis in my department and I felt too guilty to abandon everyone to go learn how to deskercize.

This evening I'm meeting with an organization I'd like to volunteer for, so that's neat too.

  • Thursdays are my Friday. I work at a church and work Sunday mornings running a program so I don't come in to the office on Fridays during "business hours" in order to maintain two consecutive days off. It is great.

It's also spring break for the grade school which is attached, so the office is fairly empty and the place is dead. I'm getting some good long-term planning done, but when I'm not having ideas, I'm very much with you on the zero motivation.

I really need to learn deskercise.  I have no excuse because I could just close my door and do push-ups or whatever, it's just that my normal work clothes are not conducive to working out.  I would love one of those under-desk elliptical things but I'm not sure they actually do much for you.

Today might be a little wild at work because we have a deadline at midnight, so I fully expect to be helping out the team until 11:59pm.  I'll be thrilled if I get out earlier, though.  And I slept till 8:20 this morning.  It was glorious.

  • I have no motivation because I'm just waiting for my official start date at the new job so I can go ahead and quit this place. Hate it.

And I left my cell phone in the car so I feel really naked. :(

I'm trying to figure out how much notice to give here.  I could give like 3 months' worth, but I kind of want to wait until after I get back from the honeymoon next month, then do it.  That's still a solid 6-7 weeks.  My coworker is retiring May 5, and they're not going to replace her - they were going to shift it all to me.  I was thinking the longer I give them, the more chance they will have to fill her slot (they're not officially closing the rec just in case it's too much work for 1 person), then just not replace me.  But on the flip side, I want to work until mid-June so I can have all my credit cards paid off before we move and I'm unemployed for a little while.  I don't want them to cut me loose too early.

Any managers want to weigh in on what you would prefer?  I don't want to just give 2 weeks - that's not nearly enough time.

  • I will probably leave about an hour early today and just not take lunch. It's rainy outside today which makes me just want to go to sleep.

I also want to learn to deskersize!

DH is starting to stress out about school. With two very interested and highly potential offers, he feels the pressure more to do well and graduate this semester. Which he should be fine since his grades are above average. He did find out he is one class short, which upset him because his advisor told him that he had all his classes completed. But they may let him do a project to sub it or use his time working for the golf course at school as a credit. Worse come to worse, he can take it online this summer and still start a job.

I wouldn't give THAT much notice. Positions are never filled within 2 weeks, that's just a fact of life/business. Your employers know that. Don't hold yourself responsible for their own recruiting and hiring practices. It's a noble concern, but it's not your responsibility. I've always used the 2 weeks to get full documentation of whatever that person was working on... have them write SOPs and training docs for whenever the new person comes on board, which is often as long as 6 months later.

I'd never give longer than 4 weeks, because once you give notice they're free to cut you loose at any moment.

  • I'm leaving early today too!

Today I have my second dress fitting, a hair appointment and then we are going to see a play tonight. And tomorrow we are going to Florida!

So I definitely feel your lack of motivation.

It's like if I know I'm leaving early, I'm all, what's the point I leave in "x number of hours" anyway. I have no idea why I think that way, but it always happens!

I might get my brows shaped later tonight. They are a hot mess right now.

My Thursday is fabulous so far. I went spinning with @lacqueredlover this morning (throwback Thursday spin class!) so I already feel super accomplished. I am actually going to try and do some wedding related things during the day.

So, funny story. I have a "bridesmaidzilla". I ended up telling my girls that they can choose their own dresses, as long as they are cobalt blue. I also told them to get long dresses, since they all told me that they preferred to wear a long dress. They all have different tastes, and body types,  I wanted them to choose what they felt best in. One of my Bridesmaids, let's call her lil pinkcow (we share the same name, and she's smaller, so that's what we all call her IRL), was not really understanding this. She kept asking me if I was sure, and that this all seemed very "carte blanche" whatever the hell THAT means.

So, she kept bugging the other bridesmaids (their words, not mine), trying to get them all to go shopping together for matching dresses. They were not having that. Then she finally agrees to get her own dress, and asks them what kind of dresses they are thinking of. They tell her long and blue. She gets a short dress! When she shows it to them and they reiterate that they are wearing long dresses, and she tells them she's now second guessing her choice. D'oh! (Meanwhile, she showed me her dress and I told her it's beautiful).

Then she asks me what kind of shoes they should wear. Again. I don't give a rats ass. Yesterday she texts them AGAIN, saying she thinks they should match shoes and accessories. My cousin replies that she likes that they get to express their individuality, and that she thinks I don't want them to be super matchy. Plus, no, they do not want to wear the same shoes.

Anyways, I'm obviously staying out of all this haha. It's just kind of funny to me how lil pinkcow is so set on them matching.

And, I am a HUGE shoe gal. I love shoes. They are my thing. I would be really annoyed if I had to wear the same exact shoe as 3 other girls, haha.

  • @pinkcow13 I really love the 7 am spin because now we are just DONE for the day!  Plus I checked my stats and it was my highest output ever and I burned 435 calories and went 11 miles so yay!  We are rockstars!

Today is my Friday because tomorrow I go to NOLA for my BFF's bachelorette party!  So after work I'm completely changing my hair color and then have to go home and pack and pass out because I have to leave at 4:30 am for my flight!

Oh I need to check mine, I wonder how many miles I did? Probably the same as you or less lol. I love that I am done for the day. And I have a lot of energy!

Where are you getting your hair colored? I want to get mine colored next month.

  • Wow @pinkcow13 !  Maybe your friend just needs to know exactly what to get?  That's crazy! I would love to be able to pick out any shoe, and any cobalt blue long dress that I liked.  I think sometimes it really throws people off when you are a laid back bride.  I'm experiencing some of this too, my entire family is coming to me and asking what do you want me to wear?  (Mind you, we do not have a bridal party, so everyone coming to our wedding is our immediate family and a guest at our wedding) And I say, there's nothing specific, I just want you to wear something you feel comfortable in.  I can't tell you how many times I have had to say this over and over again.  People are funny about weddings and attire sometimes.

Yea, it is so bizarre! I felt that she needed more direction, so that's why I also specified the length. And then she goes off and gets the wrong length! Sigh...

People really are funny about the most random things when it comes to weddings. The bridal patry attire is the LAST thing on my mind about this whole wedding!

Amen!  I have got so much more to worry about than what suit FFIL is going to wear to the wedding, and if he needs to wear a tie, and what color tie, because, well it needs to match my wedding colors right? I could care less what anyone wears, I just want them to be there!

My girls is AMAZING!  She left a shop in Chelsea a few years ago and now works out of a barber shop (she rents the back room) on 39th and 6th.  I can send you her info if you want, she's a color mastermind.  I've gone light and dark so many times and never have breakage or anything

  • My Thursday is going slow. We are having a science day but only two groups. Plus one of my classes have been cancelled. Everything is ok, I'm finally not sick anymore! V and I had a talk last night and I've come to the decision that I'll most likely step down from being vice president of my club. It's affecting my school, health, and my relationship with V. I vent to him and its starting to wear him down. I wouldn't step down if I had help, but when everyone has excuses not to help, does it days after I ask, or completely ignore me there's not much I can do.

HA you know similarly, I told my BMs that I didn't care what kind of shoes they were as long as they were gold or nude. I said whatever style you want is fine, even if that's a sandal. Several of them were so confused, like what does that mean though.

I'm like that means on the long list of things I give a shit about, your shoes are not even on it.
