The dog ate my invitations

Well...not really. Actually he just wrinkled them and drooled on them a lot. And he did it to spite me, because he's a jerk.

A number of the invitations were salvageable and we already sent them to OOT guests so that they could make plans. We just got replacement invitations to send out to the local guests. Now I'm kind of regretting that plan, because our RSVP cards (which were intact) say RSVP by April 8th. I'm hoping the last few guests don't think we've b-listed them. Is it unusual to get an invitation 4-5 weeks out? Would you side-eye this? I was shooting for the 8 week mark but obviously that didn't happen :/

  • Just for me personally, I wouldn't notice the time-frame. I've never gotten an invitation and counted the weeks just to make sure they sent them out at the appropriate time or whatever. I just flip through my calendar to make sure I'm free that weekend and that's it.

I may notice if I received it one or two weeks before the wedding and side-eye that a bit, but not 4-5 weeks.

Yeah, no, I think you're fine.  I think I'd actually prefer the quicker turn around than the  3 month marathon invitations I've been getting recently.
  • Eh... It is kind of a tight turnaround. If you mail them today, they show up maybe the 24-25, and they have to mail it back immediately to get it to you by 4/8?

Tell the family busy-body about the dog incident. I think it's pretty funny. Sorry though, I'm sure it sucked for you when it happened!

  • I would only notice if other people I knew told me that got their invite and I received mine a few weeks later. I would let the story slip to a chatty aunt and friend, that way you probably won't have to worry either way ;)

That sucks! DH's dog is on my shit list...literally - the last two days he's pooped all over the living room, so I feel your pain!
    ~xoxo~

  • I would only even notice if it was extreme - like several months early, or only one week. Example: we just got an invite for a baby shower 2.5 months from now. I side-eyed that.

  • If I were you I'd totally call or email to warn the guests, mostly because the story is really funny. I'm guessing most people will laugh and mark it down on their calender.

My MOH never got her save the date, and joked that she was being b-listed early. I have no idea where it got lost...i dropped it in the mail myself so I know it got sent.
  • I don't think 4-5 weeks is that bad, but you could definitely pass the story around via word of mouth. It's funny and people would understand.

  • Thanks y'all, that definitely makes me feel better. I'm sure everyone will be hearing the story because it's just too ridiculous to not tell it.
