I've seen people discuss this before when it comes to a wedding, but never an anniversary. My sister and her Hubbs are having a party for their 10th wedding anniversary in May and they already did the fancy wedding and now they want something that is fun
and also represents them (they are total pizza junkies and it’s their fav
food).. they were going to serve it with bread sticks, salad, possibly a
fruit platter also.. so it won’t just be pizza.. just wondering what
everyone thinks. I’ve seen weigh-ins about the wedding idea, but would
this be ok for an anniversary party? BTW: they plan to put that they’re
going to have a pizza party on our invitations so it’s not a surprise
and so people know what to expect..

Re: Pizza

  • I love pizza and I'd be happy to attend your awesome pizza party anniversary celebration!

I think you are fine.  As long as you are fully hosting your guests, you are good.  I probably wouldn't mention the pizza party on the invites.  The invites themselves should designate the formality of your event.
  • I think this sounds fine. As long as they are hosting their
guests properly. Now, that said, I would be surprised if they rented out a
5-star hotel ballroom and served pizza, that to me would be odd. However, if
this was in a VFW or similar hall style location or at someone’s home/backyard
that is different. Pizza works in those locations and especially for smaller
    crowds.

As mentioned the invite and location will indicate the
    formality of the event.

Pizza also does not automatically mean “cheap” or “low brow”
to me. There are tons of pizza places that they could order from to give it a
different spin. Example: In my city we have a pizza place that does pizza with
an Indian flare. Very interesting and yummy. A family owned or “authentic” Italian
style pizza place would also be a good option. Now if I went to a 10 year anniversary
with 100 people and 25 pizza hut boxes were delivered. That would be a little
    odd.

  • As long as there is enough pizza for everyone and they are providing some beverages, I think they are good.

  • They are having it at a local hall and I think are going to go with a local pizza place.. they are friends with the owner and some of the workers.. they told me they'll put the pizzas out on platters so no boxes and of course they will provide drinks and a salad and other sides.. I'm just writing to ask if this seemed strange or fun.. to me, I think it's fun.. the party should be about the couple and their favorite things and what they like.. but our parents are scoffing at it lol..
  • I went to a fabulous anniversary party in a backyard where the hosts hired a pizza truck for the food. Custom pizzas baked right there? Yes please! What you are planning sounds yummy and fun.

Let your parents scoff.  They don't have to come, in fact.  They can scoff pizza-less at home.  I think it sounds fun and tasty.
  • @JCBride2015 that sounds so delicious!

  • I had pizza at my wedding with fruits and veggie trays. It's delicious and was an inexpensive way to make sure everyone got to eat as much as they wanted.
