Need advice from past brides...

Hello, my fiance and I are trying to decide between a couple venues for our big day and having a hard time.  The one we really love has a pretty steep rental fee but the venue is beautiful and they set up and clean up everything for you and are very flexible on where you get your food/drinks from.  The second is decent, kind of plain - although I am sure we could make it nice - you have to do the set up and clean up by yourself, you have to use their bar - food can be from anywhere.  I have heard wonderful things about the first place and so far mixed reviews about the second.  Just wondering what you might do? Go for the dream venue and have less to spend on everything else? or go with the less-than-perfect venue and work hard to try and make it work for us?  Also wondering what things seemed super important while planning but in the scheme of things weren't a big deal? plastic/paper dinnerware? paper vs cloth napkins? dj vs mp3 player?  thanks for any help!
