XP: The Faithful Little Cupcake

edited April 2015 in Chit Chat
So I posted this on the NE Ohio local page, but thought you ladies would appreciate hearing about a faith based business who loves and serves all :) And has really, really good cupcakes, BC CAKE!!!

***************************************************************************

I wanted to give a shout out to The Faithful Little Cupcake with locations in Orrville and Wooster, Ohio. They posted about any incident on their FB page today, where apparently a customer was upset that this business does not turn away anyone for service. All are lovingly welcomed. I can tell you first hand, their cupcakes are amazing! Stop by and try one and remember them when thinking about your wedding needs.

Here is the post from their FB Page:

We had an incident this morning in one of our shops that really hurt one of our amazing staff members.

And if people looked up Matthew 25:40 and actually read it they'd get why this bakery doesn't discriminant.

And the King will answer them, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.’
It really saddens me to see so many Christians hung up on fighting with people around them instead of, you know, doing for the last and least. I wonder if anyone thought about how many meals, nights of shelter, etc. could have been provided with the amount of resources that went into passing that bill in Indiana.

  • This brought tears to my eyes! THIS is how you show Christ's love.

    This is seriously so awesome.

  • So on a related note, a local pizza shop here in Columbus posted this on their Facebook wall in response to the Indiana pizza shop who said they wouldn't cater a gay wedding (which, I'm sure this was such a high demand... sarcasm)

Here's this local company's post.  Stonewall Columbus they mention is the Central Ohio LGBT Community Center.

As most of you have, I’ve been following the events in Indiana regarding Governor Mike Pence’s Religious Freedom Restoration Act and the potential impact it could have on the LGBT community. Yesterday, the Indiana pizza shop, Memories Pizza stated that it would not cater their food to a gay wedding if it were approached to do so.

I feel, as a pizza shop owner and a supporter of the LGBT community here in Columbus, it was only right for me to say something on behalf of MY pizza shop.

“This specific incident does a perfect job of showing why this law is so heinous and has the potential to create such an unacceptable precedence at this point in our collective evolution. It allows mean-spirited bigotry to pass as acceptable and allows businesses to discriminate, not only against gays, but any other group of people it deems fit. Late Night Slice is open to ALL those who want pizza, not matter what their situation or disposition. We have been and always will be OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. Our mission statement says it all …We will be a loyal partner to our community and a fierce defender of what’s right. One human family – Pizza for all.”

Starting tonight and running through this weekend, we will be accepting donations on behalf of Stonewall Columbus and giving out swag at participating Late Night Slice locations. Stop in this weekend and help us stand up for what’s right. ‪#‎pizzaforall‬ ‪#‎latenightslice‬

I love that people are speaking out against that disgusting pizza shop in Indiana. However, as a response to people speaking out against it, someone started a GFM for the pizza shop owners, which-- as of this morning-- has collected over $50,000. Makes me ragey. Yet another reason why GFM needs to die in a fire.

  • The pizza shop's owner (or owner's dad? I'm not sure) said that people choose to be gay, after all he chose to be heterosexual. Um...dude...you might be gay.

Gross. Oh he's going to lose business because he decided to discriminate against customers? Cry me a river. That's the whole point of the law - to allow business owners to discriminate. Consequence? They make less money.

It's is a choice business owners make...

The silver lining of this whole debacle is that it shows people's true colors. It's hard enough to know which businesses (i.e. business owners) to support. At least assholes like this are making it easy to decide.

Same pizza shop made national headlines last year over a gay rights issue. It's a stand-up place with great pizza. And they have "slut sauce" and it's better than you can even begin to imagine!!

Not defending the pizza place AT ALL because I think the Indiana law is heartbreaking its so wrong, but the GFM me was because the pizza place owners had to close down and move (themselves, not the shop) because of death threats. I read that on yahoo news though, so grain of salt and all that.

I love the cupcake shops post it actually brought tears to my eyes

I feel like whenever I walk into a local business around here now, before I give them my money I need to ask where they stand on this. Cuz my dollars and support don't go to bigots. Nope.
This really just highlights how absurd it is for a business to be picking and choosing their customers like this. Like are they going to interview every customer? Imagine that? The customer goes in and asks them where they stand. Then the business owner goes through their questions. After a brief interview process, the customer can now buy a $2 slice of pizza.

Also I always find the "its against my faith" disingenuous because its ALWAYS about gay rights. No one is petitioning to make divorce illegal. No business is fighting for the right to not serve couples that had sex before marriage.

    PREACH.

It's people using Christianity as a crutch for their own, personal hate and bigotry. And in the interim, giving all Christians a bad rap.

I don't really care what the business owners "lost" as a result of their own bigotry. People should face repercussions and consequences for making such a bold stance that it's ok to be a bigot. They should lose something for that. It shows that our society won't tolerate that level of hate. But instead, they've now been rewarded because some jackass got them a ton of money via GFM. That's gross. Today it's up to $400,000.

  • the fuck is wrong with the world today?! GFM is actually funding bigotry now...and business owners can refuse to serve you because you look "gay." What does a gay person even look like?

I know this is wishful thinking, but I kind of wish GFM would take a stance on this and say "we refuse to finance campaigns that openly discriminate against groups of people. Because the account was set up as a result of discrimination, we will donate all the money to an LGBT rights organization."

I'm so tired of people using their religious freedom/beliefs as an excuse to cover up bigotry. It's not cool.

That'll never happen. It is a likely as honeyfund putting up a disclaimer that asking for cash is rude. Both are businesses making money off hidden fees...don't expect them to do the stand-up thing, sadly.

  • As I said, it's wishful thinking...still a sucky situation.
