Bangs

Hey Y'all,

How do people keep their bangs nice throughout the day? By the end of the afternoon, mine always look so piecy. Do you have to use some sort of product?

Re: Bangs

  • A little bit of baby powder helps. Try not to touch them or mess with them. Maybe adjust the type of makeup or face products you're using; they might cause excess oil which then gets in your hair.

When I had bangs and they got oily too soon, I would pull the rest of my hair back, stick my head in the sink, and wash just my bangs with a tiny bit of shampoo and no conditioner. That always helped a lot.

  • I use dry shampoo in the mornings.

  • I have always had bangs, I find that regular trims help (4 weeks is my norm), when I get lazy and go 6 weeks without a trim they start having more of a mind of their own.

When I style them in the morning I blow dry with a round brush straight down, then blow them to one side, and then back to the otherside before finishing off in the middle (mine are straight across). I find that blow drying them in all directions helps them not go into weird piecy sections. If they are still acting weird I'll do a quick swipe of the iron.

I actually try and avoid product in my bangs, I find they get way more greasy if I do. So I don't condition them and avoid any sprays etc.

I wash my hair every other day but I wash my bangs every morning (just in the sink on the off days). They just get too yucky the second day.

  • I've only had bangs a couple times - the swoopy ones. They got piece-y because I was pushing them out of my face too much. Then I figured out if I just used some hairspray to keep them in place I wouldn't be touching them all the time. Voila!

  • I used to love my bangs but they were a lot of work. I usually wash my hair every other day, but I still had to wet my bangs, put some mousse in them, and blow dry them everyday.

  • I have bangs now. I use a little baby powder, and since my hair is oily, I will just pony tail it up and wash my bangs in the sink with a little bit of shampoo, then blow dry with a small round brush. During the day, I carry around baby powder in my purse so I just run to the bathroom and shake it on and ruffle the hair. I really regret getting bangs again now I remember why I grew them out in the first place.

  • Mine last 2 days, but I'm usually fed up with them by the end of day 2. I wash mine in the sink every second day. I'd try to not touch them and use no product. I dry them with a round brush and use my straightener and that keeps them looking good with an occasional brush throughout the day

  • My hair gets oily by the end of the day too, including my bangs. What I've learned that helps is blow drying them all over the place and brushing them with a round brush. I've realized that leaving my hair wet for too long makes my hair get oily faster. Then I use hairspray to hold them in place. I have my off days but for the most part it works. I love my bangs, I have had them for years now. The style has changed but I think the last time I didn't have bangs was when I was 13. I also wash my hair every day. I know a lot of people can go without but I just can't. I feel unclean and gross. Hope that helps!

  • I have the straight across ones and I use a bit of hairspray (not a lot) when I am done with them in the morning and spray dry shampoo under them where they come into contact with my head.

What is a good brand of dry shampoo? I may have to try it!
