Diva Cup Question [tmi]

Re: Diva Cup Question [tmi]

  • Probably another sub-TMI-TMI

Since I got Mirena my flow is extremely light. I basically spot for 6 or 7 days every two months.

Is it ok for light flow days, or does it hurt like a tampon does? I'm sick of wearing pads/pantyliners, but my flow is way too light to wear a tampon. So I never really know what to do for like swimming and sports and stuff where I really can't/don't want to wear a pad.
You should be fine.  I'll put mine in when I know I'm supposed to start that day or the next, just so that I can catch it early and don't have to worry about ruining panties or anything.  Doesn't hurt or anything, it might be a little harder to put it in or take it out, but just because of the lubrication factor.  Doesn't hurt at all though.

  • But the lubrication thing shouldn't be a factor, cos you'll have natural/non period lubrication to help.  Tampons can dry you up in that sense, but the diva cup won't absorb any of that, if that makes sense.  I've used mine on what turned out to be spotting days with no difference between regular period days

  • I've tried DC a few different times and never really liked it.  It always leaked, it was uncomfortable.

I love the idea, it just didn't work for me.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

Yes, it's ok. They even say on their website you can put yours in ahead of time to catch any spotting the day before your period.

    It shouldn't hurt at all.

Do I need to TMI  in a TMI thread??  Anyway, I have never been able to turn mine.  Ever.  I don't get the turning thing.  Mine just sticks in place and my fingers move around it, or it gets squished if I hold it harder.

I use a C fold, insert it about half way and let it open.  Then I just shove it back.  It took about 6 months to figure out they best way for me.
Groovy.  Thanks.  This is good to know.  I'm excited to try it again later this month.  I'm such a 'green queen' that the idea of completely giving up tampons delights me.  No more cotton in the sewage system put there by me!

Ack. You should never, ever, ever, ever flush tampons, despite what the packages claim. It can take a while, but they DO end up blocking the sewage system.
  • My cervix is tipped kind of weird (even my gyn confirmed this), so I can't use Diva Cups and the like. I've been thinking about switching to reusable pads from GladRags. Blood doesn't squick me out, so I wouldn't have any problem tossing the used ones in a bucket to soak until I could do laundry, and they sound really comfortable.

I just get so nervous about leaks. I tend to wear a tampon with a pantyliner as it is.
