Re: IKEA Virtual Wedding

  • It's just...so weird. On the one hand, it's yet another way to have guests without having to host them. On the other hand, does someone really want to get married this way???

  • The article seemed a little sarcastic in spots. At least I hope it was.

"The Swedish furniture retailer just launched Wedding Online, a website that gets rid of all the useless nonsense that comes with getting married—like being surrounded by your loved ones, or eating cake—and gives you what you really want: a virtual ceremony that you don’t even need to wear pants to attend."

I think the article is sarcastic, but mentioning IKEA's provision that the couple has to be in the room with the officiant for it to be legal makes me think it's a real thing that IKEA is offering. Basically a Skype wedding done up like a JibJab ecard.

  • The part of me that really still wants to elope....likes this idea.

But I'd have to help every single one of my family members set up because they still don't understand face time on their iPhones. For the love of god LOOK AT THE CAMERA. No I can't see you when you hold to phone to your ear while we do facetime cause that's not how this works.

Yeah very strange. The useless nonsense like having loved ones there made me giggle though.

I would really laugh if someone send me a wedding JibJab ecard though.

  • No lie, I checked the date to make sure it wasn't an April Fool's article.

I googled it. I shouldn't have, because I found out it's real. You can actually do it. WTF
