Accessories for "light gold" dress to downplay the yellow?

My dress wasn't available in ivory, so I ordered light gold, and it looks a lot more yellow/gold in the alterations department than it did when I was trying it on.

I guess it's kind of a yellowy champagne color.

Anyway, what does TK think - yellow gold accessories/shoes to downplay the color or silver?  I'm not sure yet what it looks like in natural light.  My ceremony is in a church and my reception is outdoors.

Also if you have any leads on belts that might work, I'm considering one, but this color is SO HARD to match!  Finding a veil was a nightmare!

Re: Accessories for "light gold" dress to downplay the yellow?

  • I just purchased an Amalia Carrara dress in the Antique color and I'm trying to figure out what color veil to buy (ivory, champagne. . . etc).  But, I'm in the same boat and trying to scour the internet looking for examples.  When I find something I will post it.
  • I feel like white would stick out a lot but if you can find ivory accessories that might work and help tone it down.  An ivory belt would tone down the color of the dress but the dress has such beautiful detailing that I think it would be hard to find a belt to match the beauty

  • It looks like the overlay is ivory and silver/pearl? If you really must have a belt, I'd go for a simple ivory sash so it's not competing with the dress, and I'd do silver and/or pearl accessories. I think yellow gold accessories are going to play the tone up, not down.

In any case, holy smokes, that is one gorgeous dress.

I had to suck it up and buy my veil in the dress shop... I hate to overpay for anything, but unless I wanted a totally plain veil, I really had to see them WITH the dress.

  • I would not wear a belt with that at all because it will break up the lovely floral beading/embroidery. I feel like gold would look better with it, but it will emphasize the shade. I would wear all pearl jewelry with it before picking white metal, though. Or rose gold might be pretty with it. Shoes don't matter so much because you won't see them. I would probably pick nude.

  • Wear like pearls. Or something white

  • My options for that would be pearls, but not necessarily white pearls or jewelry with an antique silver look to it. As for a sash/belt. I would probably skip that. My reason is that with the design of the dress, I think a belt would cut the dress in half and also interupt the flow of the applique on the dress. I would recommend trying a dress on at the bridal shop just to see how it looks, even if it's not the perfect color. You may have to go with a contrasting belt that goes with your wedding colors if you do get one. As for a veil color, ivory would go nicely.
