XP: Accessories for "light gold" dress to downplay the yellow?

My dress wasn't available in ivory, so I ordered light gold, and it looks a lot more yellow/gold in the alterations department than it did when I was trying it on.

I guess it's kind of a yellowy champagne color.

Anyway, what does TK think - yellow gold accessories/shoes to downplay the color or silver?  I'm not sure yet what it looks like in natural light.  My ceremony is in a church and my reception is outdoors.

Also if you have any leads on belts that might work, I'm considering one, but this color is SO HARD to match!  Finding a veil was a nightmare!

  • Beautiful dress! Personally, I'd wear silver/white gold jewelry because I think yellow gold will only bring out the yellow color more.

  • I think you could wear either with that dress (which is beautiful, by the way!)

I don't know yellow-gold will necessarily downplay the color, though. It may make it stand out more. Which is fine, I think. I like the color :)

  • I'm clueless with color but I just wanted to say I love that dress!

  • Love the dress! I'd go with silver.
  • Beautiful dress! I agree with PPs the gold will probably bring out the color more. I love gold though so I think it would look great! If you want to downplay, I'd go with silver. It will bring out the beading more I think.

  • I seriously love that dress. Love.
I wouldn't belt it, because it will break the beautiful cascading lines lines of the lace, which I bet are even prettier on.
    Silvery accessories.
I'm in love with this dress.

I think that's my dress! If not, mine is VERY similar and it is also champagne-gold. I personally love gold so I am going for it with the accessories, but also thought pearl accessories would be nice with it.

as far as a belt, would you consider a color? a muted shade of your bridesmaids dresses for example? Although I agree with ohannabelle, I think a belt may detract from the line of the dress.

  • Beautiful! My dress is called champagne but it looks like basically the same color. My shoes have both good and silver in them, and I'm wearing pearls. I think silver will look lovely with your dress. That lace is gorgeous!!

  • I would say pearls would be a nice accent. That is a gorgeous dress!

Mine dress was champagne.  I wore muted gold sandals, and a pearl necklace on gold chain that DH gave me early on

ETA - But I really wanted a gold dress for the start, but I didn't feel this made it look a lot more goldish

  • Your dress is beautiful. You could pull off gold or silver jewelry, I personally would do gold because I like the look better.

I was originally going to say no belt, but after seeing it on you, I think it could really accentuate your tiny waist! I would definitely have to see an example first though.

  • I wouldn't belt it, the lace is too pretty to cover up!

I'm torn on the jewelry color... I do think maybe a yellow gold could make the dress look more white in comparison. I wore silver and dark pewter with mine though. (Which, BTW, was champagne and ivory and still looked completely white in photos, especially in natural light.)

  • Your dress is gorgeous! Honestly, more than anything else it's going to be a matter of what you are standing next to. The reason it is looking more yellow in the bag is the bag is bright white. When it's on your body, it looks much whiter. My dress is ivory and if it is next to a stark white like that it looks more yellow than it really is, just like yours.

One tip I got from my DOC was to consider getting FI an ivory tuxedo shirt instead of a bright white, again for that same reason, it matters what you're next to.

We worried about this too, so we did a white shirt with champagne tie for H. The contrast looks more purposeful that way. And studly. :-*
