Avoiding a nip slip

I have a strapless dress with cups sewn in. Up until this past week, it sat kind of high on my chest and fit tightly, so everything stayed in place. I think I've lost some weight since my final fitting because the dress sits lower now and my small boobs are dangerously close to coming out, especially if I raise my arms over my head. It already has cups with a little bit of push up so wearing a bra isn't an option :(

Is there anything I can do to my dress to keep it from slipping?

  • Can it not be taken in anymore?
  • When is your wedding? Final fitting is usually two weeks before.....you shouldn't have that much time between the final fitting and wedding that the dress fitting would change that drastically.  Personally, I'd bring it back to the seamstress and have them take it in.  I wouldn't want to have to worry about my dress falling down the entire day.

  • Have it taken in one more time and see if they can add another set of eyes on the sewn-in bra to snug it up some more. If you lost weight in your breasts, cutlets might be necessary.

  • Thanks for the suggestions everyone! Looking closer I noticed a hole where the seam is starting to come undone, and I'm guessing that may be the issue rather than the weight loss. At this point I think I just need to take it to another seamstress. Ugh.

@blabla89 Irina's Alterations in Roswell did some fast turnaround work on my dress the week before my wedding. Just a suggestion in case you're looking. I know they're a bit out of your way, but it may be worth it. Good luck!

  • Thank you @labro! I remembered you mentioned her before and was thinking about calling. An acquaintance from my church heard about it through the grapevine and offered to fix it for me. She's taking it in today, so hopefully it will be perfect when I try it on tonight :)
