TK, BBnB Registry, and Google Search Results

Did a bit of searching on here for this answer to no avail, so I apologize if this has already been said.

How in the ever-loving hell did my Bed, Bath and Beyond Registry link to TK and how is that now showing up in Google search results for my name AND how do I make it go away?

  • oh I just searched my name and the same thing came up. and on my BB&B some random mustache wine cork thing that I definitely didn't register for!
  • That happened with mine too, and I'm not sure how to make it go away. I guess it doesn't really bother me - my BBB registry could be found by googling even if it weren't on the TK page.

  • Yeah,  I don't think it updates when you change your registry...because I have made changes to mine and older versions are still on there. I just want to get this fixed as I am on the hunt for a new job and I am not keen on my wedding registry appearing in my search results. Thanks TK.

Whenever I had random things pop up on my registry, it was because someone had bought it for me when they purchased items that were on my registry already. So for instance, H's aunt bought us a bunch of baking stuff I had registered for and included measuring spoons that I hadn't. BB&B added them to my registry automatically. Maybe this is what happened with yours?
  • This is reminding me that my (empty) registry is on my wedding website. I need to get my shit together.

Uhhhh, why does this matter? Like, why the fuck would your wedding registry have anything to do with your job hunt?

Unfortunately we still live in a day where employers discriminate. I don't want my marital status known if I'm looking for a job either. Already told my fiance that I'll probably remove my ring if I'm ever looking for a job after we get married.

There are companies who WILL Google your name.

I'm in HR/recruiting and I can't tell you how many times I've had to reality check managers in marital staus/parental status/age- one time a manager who was ALSO IN HR!!!

I actually think we removed the search results by changing the knot registry page so our names are "Anjemon S" and "AnjemonFI D" so it just says "S & D Wedding" or something like that on the top of the page. And the url is Anjemon-S-AnjemonFI-D instead of including last names. Then I "hid" all the registries. I just did a quick google and it doesn't pop up. Although you have a unique first name you might need to change that too.

It totally sucks, but I wouldn't want mine to appear in a job search. But its because I'm in a same-sex relationship, and some people discriminate against that.

I don't even really want my existing coworkers looking at my registry, even though I totally google and judge theirs!
