It's Friday!!

Good morning ladies... it is finally Friday!

This morning, some jacka$$e$ were talking loud outside on the street at 4:15am, so the barking of my dogs woke me up. I bet someone (ME!) will be falling asleep early tonight. Right now the housekeeper is here cleaning, so that makes me happy.

This weekend we have a lot of errands to run. We're going to Home Depot/Lowe's to pick out new granite countertops and light fixtures. Then we need to get new cell phones. And I need to grocery shop. Add in some long walks with the dogs and maybe a lunch or dinner with a couple of our friends, and we'll be pooped by Sunday night!

I went to bed at around 10:30 last night I don't feel as tired this morning.  I have to leave work early to see my GI.  Not too exciting but hopefully it resolves a few things.

We actually don't have any weekend plans.  I'll need to run to the grocery store though but other than that not much.  I hope H wants to start working on the side walk way a bit now that we tore everything up, although I don' know how much help I can be.  I look forward to sleeping in and maybe getting H's to take me out to dinner, playing some board games.  May is a pretty busy month for us so it will be real nice to just relax.  :-)

@cu97tiger have fun picking out granite countertops this weekend.  We went through HD and the process was real easy.

  • Good morning and happy Friday!!!

@cu97tiger - I feel you on the going to bed early thing. Last night I was ready for bed at NINE-THIRTY. What happened to me???

    I have a busy weekend :-(

Tomorrow morning I MUST get my car inspected. Please keep your fingers crossed that it passes, because I already had to spend almost $500 fixing it this month. After that, FI and I will drive to Brooklyn to meet up with a friend and her friend at a hot sauce festival. I don't even really love hot sauce, but maybe I will after tomorrow? It's all outdoors so hopefully it is a nice day. Tomorrow evening I'm determined to do some wedding DIY's I've been planning, and FI and I will have to spend a few hours going over wedding stuff before Sunday.

Sunday we have FOUR meetings with vendors on Long Island. UGH. We have to drive all the way out east to first meet with our main caterer, then we'll go to the florist to see our centerpiece (yay!) and go over a few things with her, then we have a meeting with our DJ and the MC where we'll go over all of the songs we want and don't want played. Finally, we'll meet with our day-of-coordinator who will help us work out a very detailed, final, schedule for the day, and who will hopefully be able to answer every question on my very long Google-drive document of wedding questions. Lucky her.

After all of that, we'll drive home and I plan on rewarding myself with homemade ice cream while watching Game of Thrones.

  • @peaseblossom55 - I think it's hilarious that your phone (I'm assuming it's your phone) auto-corrects granite to granie. I'm really excited to finally get this project done. We have a really small kitchen (thank you, 105-year old historic home!) and I think the granite will really brighten it up.

@hummingbird125 - Yay for wedding projects. I would NOT enjoy a hot sauce festival at all. Unless it was gorgeous outside and it also included beer.

  • @cu97tiger I would love to blame my phone on the granie countertops but that was a complete mistype.  My kitchen was pretty ugly and I fell in love with it all over again when we had granite countertops installed and this was before the rest of the renovations were finished.  I can't wait to see pictures when it's done.

  • @hummingbird125 All of your wedding projects sound like fun.  I miss wedding planning.

Sadly I couldn't get H to agree to celebrating our 1 year anniversary we a redo party, hiring all the same vendors ( minus the florist)

  • @cu97tiger - any ideas on color for granite? I've always been a fan of the dark colors, but when we bought our house it has a light greenish granite and I love it.

@hummingbird125 - Hot sauce festival sounds fun! Also you have to AW your wedding related DIY because you are so talented!!

@Peaseblossom55 - glad your not so tired today!

@Southernpeach89- Yay for a crib! That is so exciting and awesome that your MIL whats to do that for you guys!

We don't have any real plans this weekend. My parents left for FL for the week so we have their dog and Tessie at home! They get along great so it's fun to dog-sit.

I have a half day at work today, which is awesome. I was thinking of maybe going up to my old work for lunch and to see the girls I used to work with. Tonight we have no plans at all which is nice.

Tomorrow BF rented a thatcher for the yard. I am going to clean up all the piles of leaves that we raked last weekend and he is going to thatch and spread lime. The grass in our back-yard needs to start growing!! So hopefully this will all help.

Sunday we have no plans at all. We might take the dogs for a walk somewhere if it is nice. I usually clean the house on the weekends, but I don't know how easy it will be with the two dogs. Also they keep messing it up so quickly so it might not be worth it!

  • Happy Friday, ladies!

I just watched last night's Grey's at work and that was the worst idea I've ever had even though I saw spoilers everywhere. Gahhhh.

I'm leaving work and meeting my mom and my aunt and we're going to a charity bingo thing tonight. Apparently you can win a Coach bag. I love bingo!

Tomorrow after I go to WW, I'm treating my mom to a massage for Mother's Day and I got her a cute bag that matches one that I have that she loves. We're celebrating it early because I'm away next weekend and my mom's away on actual Mother's Day weekend. She'll probably head home in the afternoon (with Lucy!) and I'll get some work done around the house.

Sunday is my day with H. He has a tattoo appointment in the morning and a hockey game in the afternoon and then I need to pack for vacation! I can't wait to go away.

  • @southernpeach89 yay for closing on the house next week and yay a crib!! How exciting!

    Anniversary

  • @southernpeach89 That's awesome that your MIL offered to get your crib!  Have you started researching car seats yet?  A lot of my friends swear by Graco for the sole reason that if you contact them with a complaint, they will send you a new car seat (even if it is for a small complaint).

@hummingbird125 Hopefully the weather cooperates this weekend so you can enjoy the festival and all your wedding errands.

@cu97tiger Have fun picking out your granite! Do you know what kind of phone you want?

@swazzle That sounds like an awesome Mother's day plan! Have lots of fun with your mom.

Last night I painted the bathroom and guest room; all that is left to paint is a second coat in each room.  While I painted, my bf tried to figure out the flooring situation. Our house settled, so we had leveled it before we started any work, but there is still a huge bump in the middle of the living room and then a slope going towards the stairs.  Ladies who have older houses, did any of you have this issue?  If so, how did you fix it?

  • @Speakeasy14 Yes, the Graco Snugride is one of our top three right now. Our number one is the Britax B Agile. It's a bit more pricey but we are going to go and take a look at them and just carry them and see what we like the most.
  • @speakeasy14 - I think I'm going to get a Samsung mini S4. I don't need anything too giant. I'll be a little sad to lose my progress on Candy Crush Soda Saga :(

@southernpeach89 - Yay for a new crib! You can get lots of things used, but I def think a crib is one of those things you either need new or to get from a relative/close friend who you trust.

  • TGIF! This week has been SO SLOW and I didn't even come to work on Tuesday.

I'm irritated that I turned my heat on again last night because it was so cold. It's the end of April- heat should not be on.

Tonight I'd like to work out out. I need to get some wedding stuff done this weekend like ordering candles for the centerpieces. I also want to look into ordering Thank You cards and looking at guest book ideas. I think we're going to go with this for people to sign:

FI is off tomorrow to take the Civil Service exam and after maybe we'll go out to eat and hang out- not sure yet. At some point this weekend we need to get to the mall so he can make sure what ring size he needs to we can order a wedding band on Etsy. I also need to get a refund for sneakers that I never got from Lady Footlocker and I want to use some gift cards from Christmas that I haven't used yet!

  • @cu97tiger Oh yea! I've been seeing A TON of baby stuff on yard sale sites and also I've heard consignment shopping is a big help with purchasing baby items. I haven't visited any consignment stores yet but after our next appointment I'll probably start looking into more of those items.

@swazzle sounds like such nice Mother's day plans.  Have fun at bingo!!!!

ETA Did Mr. Swazzle look at the hockey rink that is right near you guys now or is he playing somewhere else?

    Anniversary

  • @Peaseblossom55 - He's been over there a couple times! He still plays in the league in Aberdeen but he wants to join a team at the one near our house soon.

  • @500days - ZOMG! We have the same china!

  • @swazzle It's so pretty and now I am thinking that I should have registered for 2 sets! How has yours held up? We received our dinnerware from Crate and Barrel too, so we will probably use that on a daily basis and use the Mikasa for fancier times.
  • @cu97tiger I love the layout of your kitchen!

    Anniversary

  • @500days - I'm sad to say that it's still in the box! We didn't have anywhere to put it in our apartment and now that we've moved and have the space, we bought a hutch/cabinet thing from Craigslist that H and I still need to refinish and that'll be my china's home :)

@swazzle I'll be the same way with the china! We don't have any storage for it besides downstairs. We really don't have much room for the things we registered for. Hopefully we can buy a bigger house next year and not have boxes everywhere...

@cocobellaf That pic of Baxter and Cricket is super cute.
