Have school systems really just failed the art of summarizing and how to tell what is relevant vs. irrelevant?  Or are people really that narcissistic and attention seeking that they think strangers actually want to hear about the minutiae of their lives?

If all you want are names, then all you needed to write is "My FI and I have decided to participate in an obstacle course event.  I would like to tie our team name into our upcoming wedding somehow.  Any ideas for a cute wedding-themed name for our team?"  Boom.  Done.  Heck, even the middle sentence might be superfluous.

All the extraneous details means either the OP lacks the ability to edit or enjoys attention-seeking and trolling - which one is it?

Alright everyone, sorry I haven't responded in a while, lots of comments to scroll through. After reading everyone's comments and such, let's say for the sake of wrapping this all up in a neat little bow that we opt to do a different day. Team names? I really liked that Wedded Blisters one, clever play on wedded bliss. Also Mudmaids and Doomsmen is really clever too. Keep the team names coming!

Just be sure to come back and let us know how your wedding day went after running the race. I really want to know.

I just do not understand spending thousands of dollars, inviting people to an event and then risking it not come together because of a  Mud race?   That is crazy talk.

I hate to be late, I would be having a full blown attack under this situation.  4:30 pm wedding.  9:30 start time (which not everyone starts at 9:30).  30 minutes from the location.   Having to worry about people in front of me slowing down.   Then the drive home.  Clean up.  God forbid I hurt myself.      Oh Hell no.

I had a great friend who does all these races.  Mud, 10K, 100M bikes, half-tris, full tris.   She does them all.   She woke up at 7am on her wedding day and did a 5 mile run.   Then she came home, rested got ready and everything started on time.   Even she things this situation is crazy talk.

Let's also pretend, then, that the race is on the moon. But it's ok, you have a space ship. BUT LET'S ALSO PRETEND that you're the Power Rangers! And Lord Zed's monsters attack the moon mud race! But you fight them off with your big dinosaur robots, and make it back in time for the wedding, even time to stop by the juice bar on the way! Not a hair out of place.

I suggest Mighty Mudding Wedding Rangers.

I'm not trying to be mean, OP, but I really don't believe you're planning on changing the race day, and that makes me sad. I think it would be a big mistake.

Assuming the race date that has probably been set in stone for a very long time and won't change, MAY change... I say "Poor Planning Pirates". Ahrrrrr.

I've spent all day doing Seneca 7 (7 people do a 77.7 mile relay race around seneca lake) so I think a quick little spartan race to start our day will be fine. If we get injured I'm sure people won't mind waiting around enjoying the food and drinks while we have a little hospital adventure.

Now back to the question at hand, team names!!!

First, this is a horrible idea

Second, Junior prom =/= wedding.

Here was my race day schedule: 

• 8am: start race (they "released" people in small groups at 15-minute increments, and our wave went at about 8:15) 
  
• 10:30(ish): Finish race. You wouldn't think it would take more than 2 hours to run three miles, but with the obstacles we were literally crawling through mud at some points, and that takes time. Plus with all the people, there were traffic jams at most obstacles, so we would literally have to stand around and wait in line. If you get stuck behind a group of friends who are not athletic at all and just taking their sweet time, you're screwed. 
  
• 11:30, head out. What took so long? Stopping to try to wipe the mud off our faces, talking to the journalist who was waiting for us at the finish line to write a story on the race, took photos, stood in line to wait to rinse off, rinsed off, we got drink tickets and food tickets so we stood around so FI could have a beer and we listend to the live band and mingled with other runners since that's part of the fun, went back to registration, stood in line, got our stuff
• Noon: actually start driving home. Long walk to the car, plus we lost the car, plus I twisted my ankle 
• 12:45: get home 
• Around 1:30: finish hosing off in the back yard, start peeling off our nasty clothes
• 2: finish eating because we were STARVING 
• 2:30 FI got a wrap and some ice for my ankle 
• 3:30: done showering, sitting around in my robe picking mud out of my nails 
• Around 4: passed out and took a 2-hour nap because we were too exhausted to move by then. If I had to get up to get my hair and make-up done and dress fancy, I literally would have cried and fallen asleep standing up. 
• I think around 6 we woke up, ate dinner, had a few cocktails, and then passed out again. 

And that was our day for a "short, easy" race in the mud.

ETA seriously though. I am not a runner. Even if I were WELL fed and watered for my time, I would be annoyed if you started late because you HADHADHAD to do this run, and would feel very much as if you didn't respect my time as your friend and as your guest. 

And if you were to get hurt, I would feel badly that you were hurt, but I would feel also that it served you right to get hurt to some extent, because you chose to do this thing that is extremely hard on your body the morning of your wedding.

And if either of those things came to pass, I would probably reevaluate my status in your life, because if your mud run made you late to your wedding, I would know that I and the rest of your guests were not as important to you as competing in this thing that probably happens yearly, if not more often than that. I don't see a lot of my people regularly. If that effort that I put in to make it to your wedding doesn't afford me some consideration to try and respect my time once I get there, I'm going to feel like our thoughts on our relationship are not the same, and I'm going to reevaluate as I need to.

Why do I foresee a PPD thread popping up several months from now? 

"Dear Knotties, my Special Day was ruined due to several members of the WP being injured, so we had to go to the ER and were late for the wedding. I ran out of time to get ready and ended up with my hair half done and chunks of mud still on my face. Our photos sucked. The guest were furious for having to stand around and wait so several of them left (how can they be so rude? It's MY special day! If they loved me, they'd wait DAYS for the honor of seeing me get married!!!)
