My DIY Invites!

Hello, ladies!

I just finished my DIY invites and I'm super excited about them, so I thought I'd post them here. :) Thanks for indulging my AW moment!

Re: My DIY Invites!

  • I'm not going to get into the etiquette wording issues, but is this a wedding invitation?  Honestly, I wouldn't think that it was if I received one.  It sounds like you are already married and are having a party to celebrate.

  • Well. Hello. :)

Yes, it is in fact a wedding invitation. Nobody on the "Chit-Chat" board seemed confused about that, so I'll trust that most will understand that it's just a less-formal invitation.

I won't ask you to "get into the etiquette wording issues." Thanks for that though.

  • The trouble with non-traditional wording is that SOMETIMES it just isn't clear.  Sorry I couldn't tell you what you wanted to hear.

This is wording I would have suggested if you had posted earlier:

    One Night Only!

A theatrical tale of true love

The pleasure of your company is requested
    at the wedding of
    Lou Noel
    and
    Lou Noel's FI
Saturday, the sixteenth of January, two thousand sixteen
at 5 o'clock (This is not in the evening.  It is afternoon.)
    Theater Name
    2 Young Road
    City, State

    Reception to immediately follow

You could still keep your theater theme without using confusing wording.

  • As I won't be sending them for quite some time, there is plenty of time for adjustments. Thank you for the insight on how to formally word an invitation; if I were hosting a formal affair, I would find it very useful.

  • This is not formal wording.  It is not traditional wording.  It is clear wording.  Good luck.

  • Have a wonderful evening!

  • I think they're attractive and fun. Love them. I do prefer "at their wedding" to "celebration of," not for etiquette or tradition, just clarity.

I agree with this.  I thought it sounded like you were already married and we were having a party to celebrate it.  Or I was invited to a theater production like Tony And Tina's Wedding.

    Most hilarious wedding show ever.
(A good etiquette guide is, if it happened at Tony and Tina's wedding, don't do it. Money dance, cash bar, choreographed bridesmaid dances......)
  • I agree with @CMGragain. I'm all for being offbeat and nontraditional but I am more in favor of clear wording. I like her suggestion very much. I've received invitations that have "creative" wording and it was hella confusing.

  • Thanks, ladies! I've definitely decided to revisit that aspect of the wording. :)

  • Nice! I think they are very cool invites. I love the fonts. I sort of DIY-ed mine too on Zazzle so now I'm interested in seeing what other people do!

    Another vote for this.

    @CMGagain has good wording.

I love the font, so fun!
