SquareSpace Wedding Site?

Anyone had good experiences with using SqSp?

I just started a site.

First thing I noticed is that it's really hard for Guests to instantly E-Mail their photos to a specified gallery. Anyone had luck with this?

What is the best way to set it up so that guests can easily upload their photos via email?

Thanks! Cheers!

Re: SquareSpace Wedding Site?

  • Never heard of it! I would generally say a majority of the people on the Knot use the knot to manage their wedding website...

But why do you need your guests to upload their photos? From the wedding? Probably could be accomplished easier just by emailing pics to you or posting on facebook!

If it isn't user friendly, people probably won't use it!

In no world is it worth it to spend money on the domain of a wedding website. People really will not use the site very much, and when they do they are looking for information on hotel blocks and such, not a beautifully-templated story of the couple.

If you really want a photo-aggregating tool, an app like Capsule or WedPics is probably your best bet. I think the Knot website gave me the option to have a live-updating page displaying the photos taken via Capsule.

I just used weebly.com for my site. But I also plan on  getting pics via email. Good luck

  • The website is really for us, years from now, but also for whom ever needs the info. We are sending out digital invites and Squarespace has a form that syncs with Google Docs so it's all animated.

Our save the date and invitation are all on the site, and there is a lot a program for collecting gifts of money.

I just like hands free, I feel like if people can upload instantly they are more likely to do so, instead of doing it when they get home or whatever and forget.

I've had a great experience with Squarespace so far, its pretty user friendly. I still just have not found a solid solution for Guest Uploads. Thanks for the suggestions I will look into them.

A domain is 10 dollars a year, and Squarespace is 60 dollars a year. So $70 for a permanent account of our wedding is okay with me, but I Could see where people wouldn't want to spend that.

I should look more into The Knots pages too.

    Thanks

$70/year indefinitely for something that you can essentially print at Shutterfly for $70 total, ever? You definitely have different priorities than I (or many people) do.

Ashley above is implying that it is not a good idea to use one of those many programs for "collecting gifts of money." For one, it is always rude to tell people, "Hey, give us cash, we don't want your stupid ideas of gifts, but we do definitely want gifts, here's a convenient way to do exactly what we're telling you with your generosity." For another, it is also always financially stupid, because the people who are going to give you money will do it anyway, and you get to keep all of that money, whereas if you use a program, it will take a cut of your gift.

However, considering that you're willing to commit $70/year to a wedding website as a memento, I'm not surprised that you're willing to put the convenience of a company writing you a check minus fees over the financial sense of depositing full check amounts yourself.

This. I own multiple domains plus two full websites that I paid for and host myself (versus my blog, which is done through blogger so I just pay for the URL). But the full websites are for business purposes and I bought them specifically so other people will frequent them on a a regular basis. Paying that much annually for the rest of your life (presumably) for a website that nobody is really going to visit except for you and your FI seems....odd.
