Wedding-related nightmares

I've been having frequent wedding-related nightmares, which I presume is a normal thing for brides-to-be. It also tells me that I must be about 3 weeks out and getting nervous. Here are two I had last night:

- I went to a dress fitting only to find that my dress was bright pink and very short. Somehow they had misplaced and/or dyed and shortened my original dress.
- Immediately before the ceremony I realized I had forgotten to put up a sign directing the guests to the bathrooms (which are located in a different building from the ceremony space), so I was frantically driving all over town in my wedding dress and up-do looking for a cheap chalkboard easel.

I find these simultaneously humorous and terrifying. Anyone else have some memorable wedding-related dreams they wish to share?

Re: Wedding-related nightmares

  • The only real nightmare I've had was that we didn't get our license, and didn't realize it until halfway through the reception. This was a while ago, like at least a month, and I still remember quite clearly how awful I felt. I've got two reminders on my phone now - one for three weeks before, and one for two weeks before - just in case.

I had a nightmare where all sorts of stuff was going wrong and they were doing construction at our wedding site, which isn't even possible, but the only that got me upset was that the bartender wasn't at the bar. In my dream, I went back and yelled at them to go out and serve my guests. I then proceeded to walk around and ask everyone if their drinks were ok. In my wedding dress. Before the ceremony.

Apparently, people enjoying their drinks is the only thing I care about.

ETA: And of course, us getting married, which we did in the dream. And I cried in my dream as we said our vows.

    I heartily approve!
  • I didn't have but one wedding nightmare leading up to our wedding. It had to do with our invitations. I DIYed our invites and somehow I forgot to put our names on there and decided to mail them anyways. Well then they all got shredded in the machine.

I did however have a dream the other night about my best friend. Her and her BF aren't engaged yet but I bet they will  be by the end of the year. I had a dream that I was 8 months pregnant at their wedding and she was mad.

I texted her to tell her and she said, "Well, according to both our our timelines, that's very possible. You're not getting out of my wedding that easy though!" HAHA. It was too funny.

  • Oh, I'm remembering another one that must have been triggered by the @larrygaga post about the crazy drunk bra-less in PJs guest:

In my dream my wedding was crashed by a group of about 10 kids from "the bad crowd" from my high school. They were all wearing flannel shirts and I tried to chase them out of the reception venue screaming and threatening them but they wouldn't leave. It's strange because these were very specific kids but I graduated from high school almost 20 years ago and haven't seen any let alone thought of these people since then.

Mine was that I walked into the ceremony at my venue and there was another couple getting married right then! I was so mortified that I woke myself up saying "I'm so sorry!"

FI was very confused by my midnight apology haha.

  • I had a dream a month back that a friend of mine (who was not pregnant) was 9 months pregnant at our wedding and her water broke on the dance floor and mayhem ensued. I texted her about it and we had a good laugh.

She texted me yesterday and said "You won't have to worry about the whole water breaking thing at your wedding, as the timing will be a little off. But its a litttle creepy that you knew I was going to be pregnant at your wedding..."

Apparently I am now a psychic. Which terrifies me for my other wedding related dreams....

It wasn't exactly a nightmare, but really made me question dream FI's judgement. I went to go put out centerpieces and FI was stringing these weird looking garlands. When I looked closer they were strings of hot dogs.

I told him that he needed to take them down and that if he really needed garland I had some streamers in the car. I came back to find he wrapped each hot dog individually in the crepe paper streamers.

Real FI was very confused when he woke me up in the morning and the first thing I told him was he was forbidden from decorating with hotdogs.

  • I might have had a couple other small ones, but the one that stands out:

Somehow I forgot that it was my wedding, so I woke up that day and realized that I have NOTHING planned:  no hair, no make up, no dress. I even woke up late so I didn't have time to shower so I totally went to my wedding with bedhead. None of the guests seemed to notice/care but I was SUPER stressed out!

Does it count if my friend had a wedding related nightmare about me? She dreamt that I was acting like a bridezilla about starting the ceremony right away because the church was about to close. I like to think I was acting like that in her dream because I wanted the ceremony to start on time and didn't care who was late.

I had one a few days ago -
Our ceremony was delayed because the Chuppah kept falling apart... there were staff trying to fix it up somehow, with the Rabbi helping, while I was waiting outside of the ceremony room.... after a while people started leaving, making scenes as in "I can't believe I flew across the Atlantic FOR THIS!"... some of my friends actually yelled at me "what were you thinking? worst wedding ever!"

    - I guess this one is not very cryptic.
    - The stars, like dust, encircle me in living mists of light. And all of space I seem to see in one vast burst of sight.
  • I had one dream that I was at the end of the aisle, ready to walk down, only to find that all the people I dislike were there, and our families and friends were nowhere to be seen. Also had another one where my dress didn't fit and the photographer didn't show up.

  • I'm right about 5 months out and had my first one. Woke up and immediately forgot what happened in the dream.

Can't figure out why I had a dream at all; we've got so much done and our planner says she's practically inventing us for things to do each month because we're ahead of schedule...
