Montage of Heck - Kurt Cobain doc

I know some of you were probably pretty young when Kurt Cobain died. I was 14 and was a HUGE Nirvana fan. When I found out he died, I spent the whole weekend crying. I was never one that was obsessed with celebs, like how my friends were with NKOTB for example. But his music spoke to me and as a young, angsty teenager, I just loved him.

So I watched Montage of Heck Saturday night. And wow. I'm still processing a lot of it. The look into his life was unreal. It was heartbreaking to hear so much about his early life. Some of the scenes with him and Courtney were really shocking. It was moving and emotional. And I cried my eyes out at the end - it totally brought me back to that day in 1994 when he died.

Has anyone else seen it? If you were ever a Nirvana fan, you should definitely check it out. It's an amazing film.

  • I watched some of it and it was pretty good, but I never had that attachment to him.

  • Well now I want to watch it. I am like 4 years younger than you so I didn't actually listen to the music or know about his death when it happened, BUT a few years later when I did turn 14 is when I got really into him and the music. Like a little too much, I had his posters all over my walls, my first screen name was my name followed by 4594 (his death date), I was morbidly curious about his death and Courtney's involvement. I am always interested when I see any old interviews/ documentaries/ current news about Francis Bean.

I loved him and was so devastated when he died. I have heard a lot about the documentary but since I don't have cable, I didn't watch it.  I think I will search it online to watch.

I was a pretty big fan when I was in high school, as was FI. We tried to watch it last night but HBO Go kept having issues, so we haven't finished it. We're right around the point where Frances is born. We've both really liked it so far, so we're looking forward to the rest of it.
  • I thought it was absolutely BRILLIANT. The use of music gave me goosebumps, and the footage of him and Courtney was heartbreaking, especially with Francis as a baby.

I feel you, Climbing. I haven't watched the doc yet... I feel like I'm saving it or something? Because it's like... the last thing? I don't know.

Also, I wanted to do this first: All 102 Nirvana songs in one place. <--- clicky

I made my husband listen to it all with me, lol. I think it took us about three days. And then I burned a big-ass CD for the car. He wasn't one of us back in the day but at least he finally started to understand a little bit. :)

I can totally understand the bolded. I felt pretty upset at the end. It felt so final.
