I don't *want* the dude to go blind, but as the parable of the flood goes "what more did you expect?"

  • He stated "knew the act required him to get coverage but he chose not to do so. But he thought help would be available in an emergency,”

THAT'S WHAT FUCKING INSURANCE DOES YOU IMBECILE. ARGGAGELJAGDLAJGA
  • I see nothing unfair about this situation. This guy didn't want to pay to insure his health, he wanted to rely on himself to pay for medical costs...now he can't pay for his medical costs. I don't see that as unfair, that was his choice. I do not feel upset for him at all.
  • Good ole South Carolina. I promise not everyone here is a fucking idiot.

  • This fucking drives me crazy. I bet he's spent his life bitching endlessly about paying taxes too. I wouldn't be shocked if he resented government support systems as well. But he has no problem taking advantage of health care in an emergency, regardless of who pays for it. And I'd imagine that he'll have no problem taking Disability if it comes to that.

  • How did he get that far in life without realizing how health insurance works? This reminds me of a girl from work who emailed me recently to ask about her dental insurance (I'm in HR)... She told me she was getting some serious dental work done soon and wanted to know if she could switch to the premium plan instead of the core as it would cover more of the work.

She's young though, so she's still learning. This guy? No excuse.
  • This has absolutely nothing to do with this thread, but rather the title...

    I'm obsessed with this book:

The comments almost make up for the fact that he's already raised $8K.

  • The only time in my life that I actually enjoyed reading the comments.
  • I like how even the people who did donate were telling him he shot himself in the foot...

Too bad there's no cure for stupidity.

To be fair, Fort Mill is sort of like SC Lite.  :)

  • The book is now on my wish list. Thank you!
