  • I recommend buying everything or a turtle. But I voted vodka. I like Deep Eddy vodka.

  • Gin! All the gin! But vodka is a close second.
  • Rum rhymes with yum...

  • I wish I could drink gin. I got super drunk once on it and had the worse the hangover the next day. I haven't been able to drink it since.
  • I think vodka is the most versatile.

I voted for "buy everything," because variety is the spice of life.

However, if you're definitely only going to get one, and it can't be gin (which WOULD be my choice), then definitely vodka.

  • Yuck. How the hell are there so many gin lovers here? It tastes like dirty gym socks.

I can agree with this sentiment!

Girl it tastes like a magical garden.

True story: I got SO FUCKING WASTED on gin when I was 18 that I didn't drink it again until I was almost 30. It's now my #1 most favorite.

I said turtles, but only because you didn't put WHiskey as an option.  I vote whiskey though.

I had whiskey last week. I'm trying to mix it up but now I'm kind of leaning towards buying a bit of everything and a lot of absinthe. It's hard to get good absinthe you have to order the decent stuff in bulk to make it worth the money.
  • Tequila, but only if you will make simple syrup as needed and always have limes on hand. Of not vodka...vodka is the friend of the ill prepared...you can pour that shit in anything!
    ~xoxo~

  • Jack.  But I agree that vodka is the most versatile, I think.  Or maybe some spiced run with coke.

  • Bourbon, all day. Preferably Four Roses small batch.

  • I think vodka just mixed really well.   A decent one is also nice for drinking alone.

And it's warm - get some rum!

    1.  Ditto on magical garden.  Quality tonic and a splash of lime?  Summer in a glass.

    2.  True story was me with tequila on my 21st birthday.  I don't think I touched it for like 5 years after that.

I'm on an Amaretto and seven-up kick lately. Mmmm!!

  • It's margarita season!!! But if that fails, I concur with the PPs who suggest gin as an alternative.

G&Ts are a personal and family favorite. I told our venue coordinator that my family is likely going to drink them out of gin at our wedding, so she promised to stock up on extra for us!

Now I want a gin and tonic, wah!!!  Just to brag, DH also makes the BEST gin martini I have ever had, like even better than our friend who is a master mixologist.

Funny gin story:  In college I went on a date with this frat boy who I totally had the hots for.  He took me to a bar downtown.  I was 18.  I went to use the bathroom while he ordered drinks.  He got us each a gin and tonic.  Well, i'm sure it was cheap gin, and my palate was only 18, so I thought it tasted like licking a pine tree.  I said i didn't like it and ordered a beer.  He freaked out, went on a rant about how we would never work if I didn't like gin and stormed out, leaving me all alone.  Looking back, I appreciate the craziness of it.  Now, 13 years or so later he is married, living on the west coast, uber succesful, and has two kids. . . . I wonder if his wife drinks gin?
  • I have now decided that I will be drinking a G&T when I get home in approximately thirty-four minutes.

I also voted for vodka, since you can put it in everything.  Amaretto is also good, and a nice rum.

I'm not sure if you can get it in the states but Hendrick's gin and tonic with a slice of cucumber instead of lime is divine!

  • I vote Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka....  Dangerously good- either on it's own, or with a little bit of water, or mixed with lemonade!
