Weird Wedding Dreams

I had the most bizarre wedding nightmare last night...

The building we're getting married in has a small-ish room for the ceremony off to the side, which opens up into this big atrium for the reception. In my dream, I get into my dress, get to the ceremony location, and my dad's aren't there to walk me down the aisle. I look ahead, and they're already at the front of the room. Ok, so I walk down the aisle by myself. Ceremony goes relatively smoothly. It's shorter than we expected, and the officiant forgets the part where we exchange rings, but we just do that part after the ceremony.

For some reason, I guess because it's beautiful outside, we decide that instead of the atrium, we want to have the reception in a park that's like 3 blocks away. We get there and a dance floor is set up, but there's no DJ. Ok, not a gigantic deal, we still have dinner first, so it's no rush, hopefully he'll be there by the time dinner is over. So everyone eats dinner, I leave to do something (can't remember - maybe dream me had to go to the bathroom?) and I get back and EVERYONE is gone. Literally every single guest has left. It's just me and DF (DH at this point, I guess). I am freaking out. Just like sobbing hysterically about how we didn't get to do our spotlight dances or toasts or cake cutting or anything and the entire day was ruined.

So we go back to the ceremony location to see if anyone is there for some reason, and to see if our DJ was there and maybe didn't get the memo about the location change. We walk into the atrium, and it's been set up as a restaurant. Couples and families and groups are sitting at tables and being served food and drinks. None of our friends and family are anywhere to be found, so we just slide into a booth (still in my wedding dress). I call my wedding coordinator to see what went wrong. I remember seeing her face in the crowd at the ceremony, because I know she was there. She just keeps making a whole bunch of excuses about why none of this is her fault and there's nothing she can do about it.

It was such a bizarre dream. I told DF about it when I woke up and he says "Well we'd never have to worry about the DJ not showing up - Derek (his friend from work that DJs on the side) would do it!" Thanks hun. Lol.

Any weird wedding dreams lately?

Re: Weird Wedding Dreams

  • I had a dream that the florist made a mistake and sent to my classic English garden country wedding giant leopard print vases filled with bright orange birds of paradise and red carnations.

(Nothing against those flowers, just not exactly the look we are going for haha).
  • I think my subconscious mind hasn't realized wedding planning is over and the wedding happened already. I had a dream one day last week that I had rented out an entire venue without considering that guests would never actually go there. Like, I had a ceremony venue and a reception venue and a third venue for no actual purpose. I was very upset in the dream that I'd wasted all this money decorating and renting this lovely empty space. So odd.

  • My wedding dress is currently too big, and I don't have my first fitting until mid July.

I had a dream the other night that they couldn't take the dress in enough to fit me and they couldn't get a size smaller in, on time. So I ended up wearing the to big dress to the wedding and spent the whole day holding the dress up.

For some crazy reason I read the thread title as "Weird Wedding Dresses" so I came in here expecting to see crazy dresses, not dreams. Oops.

One of my weirdest ones - I dreamt it was the wedding day and we were getting ready for the ceremony. However the photographer hadn't shown up, the DJ cancelled on us, and I found out my dress hadn't been altered. In my dream, I took it out of its bag and it was all dirty and torn. I got really upset and finally just said "Fuck this, I don't need a dress to get married!" and I decided to get married in jeans instead. Later in the dream, people started showing up who hadn't rsvp'd. Instead, they brought their invitations with them and said they thought they had to give it directly to me at the wedding in order to let me know they were coming. It was super upsetting because I hadn't planned for any of those people to attend.

I think I've had a couple of dreams post wedding but none of them are really memorable. I've started planning for my sister's baby shower though and I've had a couple of dreams already. My most recent one was it was the day of the shower and I realized nobody was coming because I had never sent out invitations. So I was frantically calling all of my sister's friends to see if they could make it last minute. Definitely not a fun one.

  • This is relevant to the wedding nightmares thread I started a week or so ago. I'm still having daily wedding-related dreams.

Last night's dream was that none of my guests had booked hotel rooms, but they all showed up and asked me where they could stay. Of course there were no rooms available last minute, but my venue offered to let them all stay in an old barn that is on the property. I was running around looking for camping mats and sleeping bags for 60 people so they could all camp out on the barn floor.
  • I had a dream that the night before my wedding I was kidnapped by friends (like... scary kidnapping, not fun bachelorette party kidnapping) and spent the entire night/day trying to escape my captors... and by the time I escaped I had missed my whole wedding. It was terrifying while I was dreaming it, but now it's kinda funny.
