So there was already a weekend thread so let's talk about alcohol!

What's your favorite cocktail?

I tend to go for bourbon and ginger ale these days although with summer coming, a great dirty martini is my jam.

Edited since I changed the thread because I"m stupid and didn't see the first one:

I also love any drink with cucumber in it when it's hot out.  Or spiked lemonade.  Or red sangria.

    I love alcohol.

  • I tried a new thing called a Brazilian mimosa at brunch recently and holy wow. Its pineapple juice and champagne topped with Kraken rum. So freaking delicious.

I import wine for a living, so I always have a ton of that, my current loves there are red blends.

    And then there's beer.

  • @lacqueredlover I just tried a gin cocktail that had cucumber in last week and it was delicious! Had never tried that combo before and now I want all the fancy cocktails with cucumber in them.

I love gin & tonics and will probably drink them all summer long. We found this little distillery that we love and they make the best gin. It's about an hour from our house though, and they haven't started distributing too much in stores yet. Luckily, it's along a wine trail so now I have an excuse to go wine tasting whenever we need to stock up on liquor.

Also, anyone have recommendations for good champagne cocktails (other than mimosas)? We have a bottle of bubbly at home and I want to try something fun with it.

Easy and yummy champagne cocktail. Add a few drops of bitters on a sugar cube top with champagne. It's my favorite thing to order at happy hour at our favorite little bar.

My summer drink is either strawberry margarita or gin & tonic. It's just depends on my mood.  I just found a recipe for a strawberry margarita that I can't wait to try. It looks so easy and yummy.
  • I love malibu pepsi with a splash of cranberry. So yummy!

  • I've been drinking gin and tonics nonstop lately! I used to be such a sweet cocktail kind of person but lately I've changed my tune- about as sweet as I can go are mojitos and that's because of the mint. Wow I sound super boring!

  • I love me some gin and tonic. But speaking of stuff in cocktails...I need to have a bloody mary brunch STAT! Definitely my favorite day drink.
  • Usually I'm a beer and wine person. I've discovered the hard way (on one too many occasions) that too much hard alcohol makes me sloppy drunk. But here and there I might get a big girl cocktail on a night out and then switch to wine or whatever. Most recently, my mother, sister and I all went to the beach and my sister concocted a blueberry lemonade drink to bring with us -- simply enough it was blueberry vodka mixed with ice and lemonade. SO good and refreshing.

  • I love a gin rickey, or any other gin-based cocktail over ice. Introduce cucumber into the picture and I'm golden.

I'm also a fan of margaritas that don't employ triple sec. Fresh juice or GTFO! (Just kidding. I will drink any margarita, whether frozen, rocks, triple sec, cointreau, whatever. Just give them to me).

I like Aperol spritzes as well--a good champagne drink, @cupcait927!

I'm drinking wine right now, but I love many, many cocktails. I'd actually like to start making Long Island Iced Teas on the regular because I freaking love them, but I need, like, all the alcohol for that.

Lately, well... I'm reading a book right now that happened to mention something about a gin and tonic and now it's all I can think about...

  • I find myself drinking less as time goes by. I used to really love Cosmos, but now I find that most places (or pre-mixes) make them too sweet. I like a mojito, provided the mint is fresh. I like ginger liqueur with ginger ale, and vodka or Jack with lemonade. I went through about a 3 dozen pina colada coolers over the Christmas holidays, but I guess my go-to drink is cider with lemon.

I go next level with this.

Buy some prickly pear & fresh pineapple (tropical fruit section of almost any grocery store)

Chop up the fruit, put it in a mason jar, pour a bottle of Patron Silver into it. Close it up and let it sit for a day or two. The tequila sucks all the sugar, flavor, & color out of the fruit.

Make your margarita with the fruit-infused tequila. Soooooo good.

*dont eat the fruit tho. It will taste awful as it's given up it's sugar.

I drank for the first time last night in several months.  I'm now nursing one hell of a headache though.  I had what they called a Pilgrim Manhattan (cranberry, sage, Bulleit, and cranberry moonshine).  It was delicious.

I usually pick bourbon (or equivalent if you're a stickler over what can technically be labeled as "bourbon").  I usually keep Jack, Knob Creek, and Maker's Mark on hand at all times.  I also have a bottle of Angel's Envy I've been working on for awhile now, and I have to say that is one smooth bourbon.  I'm usually a neat or on the rocks gal, but when I'm out I tend to go for an old-fashioned.  If I deviate from bourbon, it will usually be for a margarita when out for Mexican food or cider or rum and soda at home.  I like the occasional gin and tonic, but otherwise almost never drink gin or vodka.

Quoting for Darren Criss, because he is my favorite person alive. Yeah, I said it.

I like dumb girly drinks: anything frozen and fruity (preferable tropical rather than citrus), dirty shirleys (lemon-lime soda, cherry rum or vodka, grenadine), cinnamon rolls (cream soda, cinnamon whiskey), and rootbeer+amaretto are favorites.

I'll drink 7&7s when I'm not in a sweet mood. I don't like beer, and I'm not a huge fan of wine except for this $7 mango moscato that I could drink by the gallon.

  • Everyone go ahead and keep quoting @huskypuppy14 - there's so much Darren happening right now.

H drank all his Vodka so yesterday morning I decided to switch the recipe and use bourbon; and made a Bloody Derby.

Guys, this drink was amazing. I remember the thread about Bloody Mary's and all the extras and how necessary/unnecessary they are (I don't usually need anything more than a couple olives myself) but the bourbon instead of vodka was life changing.

    ETA: words are hard.
