Wedding Signature Drinks

We've talked it over and fiance and I have decided on having one signature drink for the wedding, whiskey sours!

I was just wondering, if you had signature drink (or drinks!) what did you have? How did you decide?

Whiskey sours are our mutual drink that we both like and we also know several others like it too.

(If this is already a thread or needs to be moved please say so :) )

Re: Wedding Signature Drinks

  • We had dr. pepper and rum, and a fruity vodka drink. We went with relative crowd pleasers.

Whiskey sours I think would be fine as a signature drink.

We'll be doing "the groom recommends 7&7s" (as that's his favorite, also true of many members of his family), and "the bride recommends Dirty Shirleys." Beyond the fact that it is a favorite drink of mine, I grew up drinking Shirley Temples at family events, so it's kind of an inside joke for my side of the family.

I have given no thought to signature cocktails. I'm hoping we can afford beer/wine first haha.

ETA I would probably go with whiskey sours and tequila sunrises though.

  • We're getting married in August, so our drinks are white sangria and bourbon with peach bitters.  FI really wanted to have something with bourbon as it's his favorite, and I originally wanted a champagne cocktail but thought that a drink that can be made in bigger batches may be worthwhile so there's an easy, quick drink for the bartenders to grab without taking the time to make an individual drink.

  • We're getting married in July, so we wanted cool refreshing drinks.  We're big cocktail drinkers, so we're going two--his is a whiskey ginger with candied ginger and mine is a strawberry basil mojito.
  • We are doing mimosas because it's a brunch wedding. Beer, wine, and mimosas- yum.

    Rum Stone Sours.

It was one of the few mixed drinks we both like.

  • I honestly can't remember if we had one or not. We had three beers, a couple wines, and a bunch of liquor/mixers to choose from. I think we might have officially had a madras as our drink, because DH really likes them, they're refreshing and fruit for summertime, and we already had the whopping three ingredients for them as part of our bar package. But whether or not that actually ended up happening, no clue.

Something the majority of people would like, I guess.  Personally, I prefer sweet drinks with rum or vodka.

Our wedding is on May 30th, which is also National Mint Julep Day. This made choosing our signature cocktail really easy. We tested them out on Kentucky Derby Day and... YUM!!!
  • In addition to the beer and wine, we are going to serve Lemon Drops as our signature drink. I was drinking (several of) these the night we met. We're also considering Margaritas just because so many people like them.

  • beer and wine, plus Moscow Mules. We really like them and it was summer, so it was hot and they are refreshing.

  • We talked about featuring gin & tonic's, but then decided not to.  Just from an informal poll of our friends, we would have been the only ones drinking them.  Not really worth buying the ingredients... although we could have kept the leftovers.

  • We did beer and wine, plus two signature drinks. H's was a Pimm's Cup and mine was a Pomegranate Capiroska. Both were big hits, but, sadly, I could not partake as I was pregnant. I had raspberry lemonade.
  • Actually, now that I think of it, we didn't serve any liquor at our wedding. We did, however, pour roughly $125 of wine per person.
  • FI is doing a blue mojito and I'm doing a margarita :) it's our favorite drinks

Our wedding was in October, so we wanted something fall-ish for our siggy drinks. I don't know about you all, but I can't imagine sipping a Malibu & pineapple juice when leaves are on the ground.

We served Apple Pie on the Rocks (vanilla vodka + Fireball + apple juice) and cranberry margs. Everyone loved them!

  • DH's choice was a whiskey mule and my choice was... psh. Something with vodka? I think vodka soda with lemon juice and a splash of lavendar syrup was the final decision.

But as the wedding got closer we got too wrapped up in more important details and said fuck it to the signature drinks. We had Stoli vodka (my favorite ever), Bulleit bourbon (DH's favorite ever), and gin for the many gin drinkers in our crowd plus all the typical mixers and beer and wine. Seemed like everyone was covered.

Now that I think of it, we had ordered white peach sangria that never managed to make an appearance at the wedding. Oh well.

I'm having a winter wedding and I would love to serve this!

Thank you!! I don't think our wedding venue offers a signature drink, but if they did I would definitely suggest these. They look really good (any blue drink HAS to be good).

  • I love whiskey sours too! We still have to nail down any specialty cocktails... We purchased a shit-ton of vodka, bourbon, and rye for the wedding, in addition to beer and wine.

The plan now is to have a few recommended specialty drinks (whiskey sour and old fashioned for the whiskey, greyhound and vodka tonic for the vodka), and then have coke, soda water, and juices as additional options.

They really were. They weren't that strong either, which was good. I think I had about 5 of them, and didn't even get a buzz. The only thing is that I barely had my dinner...lol. Oh well.

  • We had an open bar but were able to add a signature drink to be passed around during cocktail hour so we had Bellini's.

  • We had some extra play room, money to spend when it came to the bar s we did a Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed and Something Blue Signature Drink menu.

Something Old was Amaretto and Sprite(I had it on our first date and quickly got hubby hooked on it too)

Something New was Rumchata and Root Beer, this was 2012 when Rumchata just hit the markets and was all the rage!

Something Borrowed was a drink called Fying Monkey from our fav restaurant

Something Blue was a drink we had somewhere out of town and it had blue curraco in it.
