The Bachelorette x2

Who's watching tonight?

I have to admit, I HATE the idea of two women that the GUYS get to choose between to be the next Bachelorette. It sounds like a total train-wreck, but I can't look away...

  • I'm watching, just because of the drama that it will be. Britt and Kaitlyn had so much drama on the Bachelor...it's going to be wonderful. Not sure if I will watch after this week though.
    Wedding Countdown Ticker

  • I'll be watching. Especially now that I got my spoilers. But honestly I might be watching it over two nights, especially with another hour of it tomorrow.
  • I like Kaitlyn.

The concept doesn't really put me off that much.  It's essentially the same thing they did early on when Byron became the Bachelor.  The only difference now is because essentially the Bachelor has stuck to fishing within its own incestuous pool for each subsequent season, we know the two women ahead of time.
  • I will definitely be watching. I also hate the idea that the men choose.

I only hate it if they choose the wrong one.

    {Not really - I hate that they get to choose too. . .  but I for sure I have my preferred one of the two girls}

  • I hate the setup this season.

... That being said? I love the setup this season. I'll be watching with BFF & FI, with fucking bells on.

  • definitely watching (except I have to watch tomorrow).  The actual Bachelorette got spoiled early on but I am still curious how it all plays out.  I think the concept is lame (and I am just glad the girl I liked better is the Bachelorette); but then again the whole show is a complete train wreck and that is why I love watching it.  One of the Bachelors is from my hometown and works (worked) with my best friend's husband.  Sounds like he may go far in the season so I am looking forward to watching it play out.

  • Not reading, not reading, not reading.

I will be watching but a week behind because ABC sucks and quit allowing you to watch shows online the day after they aired.

I think it's ABC trying to get more views.  Anything they can do to get their viewer numbers up. I honestly think there will be some sort of twist where either both will continue as bachelorettes competing for all the guys, or each girl gets the guys that voted for her, or one of them will get to be the bachelorette next season.
  • Potential UO, but am I the only one who felt like last night's episode was like pulling teeth? I thought it was sooo long and redundant, and I wasn't really excited by anything that happened.

Guy got out of limo. Guy hugged a girl. Other girl whined. Repeat for two hours.

  • I fell asleep while watching. Did they even show who is picked yet, or did they leave that hanging in true Bachelor fashion?
  • I hate how the guys are choosing too. I also read spoilers so I know who wins.

I really can't stand Britt! Can she be any more phony and transparent? With all those backhanded comments like "Kaitlyn makes jokes but I said something about finding my best friend- I think that speaks to why each of us are here," or something to that effect. Ughh, barf!

They left it hanging. And it was so slow. They definitely didn't need the extra night. Just better editing!

I think the spoilers make the show more interesting. But I feel that way about most TV shows.

Based on the spoilers, it will be an interesting season, which is exciting. Especially around episode 4-5.

Yes! Same here! It adds a new element to the drama, haha.

  • I was so, so very pissed that I didn't know it was a 2 night "event" and stayed up to watch at the expense of oh-so-valuable sleep as the mom of a 7 week old…only to see a "to be continued".

That said, I'll still watch. If they choose Kaitlyn. I just can't handle Brit.

Did you guys see the promo for the season. Apparently Kaitlyn has sex with someone kinda early and then tells all the other guys they had sex.

Yeah I thought that was just one of their lame fake previews. Like how they made it seem like Chris (the most recent bachelor) has sex in his tent but when you watch the actual episode, clearly it was just really mis-leading editing or whatever and nothing actually happens. I was sure that's what they did here too.

Until Kaitlyn says to the guys, "I had sex with him." Whaaaaa?!

Ok, so I watched both episodes last night. That drunk that they kicked off - what a mess! I also read that he previously dated Nikki (Juan Pablo's pick).

So Nick from Andi's season shows up? It seems to me like Kaitlyn knew him - maybe they met at some Bachelor related event.

I have a hard time believing that Kaitlyn would be the first Bachelor/Bachelorette to have sex with someone on the show. Why did she have to admit to it? I feel bad for her.

ETA: Ok, maybe I'm confused. Nick shows up in the middle of the season, right? He wasn't already there on the first night.

Apparently she and Nick had been texting, tweeting and even face timing long before the show started.

Personally, I don't care for Britt, but I think it's total BS to have the men vote and then let Nick come on the show when she already had something going with him. That's just too scripted for me. I hope the singer-song writer and Britt hit it off and are spared the humiliation of a drawn out TV saga.

Spoiler in white: I also read the one she had sex with was Nick. And it was way before the fantasy suites, but on the show, not before. If you quote me delete the spoiler so it doesn't show up in the gray box, please.

Personally, I expect fantasy suite sex. However, if I was a contestant and the Bachelor admitted to having sex with another contestant before the fantasy suite date then I'd mosey. I feel like you made your choice at that point. Not that I would ever subject myself to being on the show - not my bag.

The whole … franchise, for lack of a better word? seems really incestuous in the sense that they all hang out together at what seems like a crazy amount of Bachelor(ette)-organized social events, not to mention the spinoffs that let them all get wasted and make out with each other for months at a time. I'm pretty sure there are a couple married couples that are from completely different seasons, but met at "events" or what have you.

It's like a swingers club for pretty people that occasionally gets televised.
There are even some contestants married to siblings of contestants from other seasons. Make s you wonder if ABC is trying to breed he perfect legacy contestant :p

  • I read all the spoilers on Reality Steve's site. She definitely knew Nick before, and that's messed up. It seems like she wasn't at all honest to the guys about it either when he showed up.

I did read last night that Britt and that guy Brady are dating.

Tons of them have sex so I'm not sure why she felt she had to share it with everyone. The editing could be a tease but she actually does say "I had sex with him." We shall see.

I am wondering if it is Nick she is talking about. Not excited he is coming back. Annoyed with him the first time around.
I'm also kind of wondering if they're over-dramatizing this. Like, maybe the dated and/or hooked up previously and so they have history together. But to make things more juicy, the editors make it sound like it happens on the show. I guess we will see.

ooh I hadn't even thought of this! Total possibility. The actual episode ALWAYS ends up being way less juicy/interesting than how the promos make it seem.

They teased us like this last season too when they made it look like Chris and Christy (? the cruise ship singer one?) rip each other's clothes off and do the do, but what really happened was that they went to a super awkward yoga/sex class thing and then leave early to grab dinner or something. I was kind of leaning this way watching this season's preview, thinking oh they're just filming a video for a challenge or something, but then when Kaitlyn flat out says "we had sex" I was like whaat. My thoughts though is that when Nick shows up (ugh Nick, go away we don't like you) she may have some explaining to do to the guys and admits her full relationship with Nick -- then hopefully sends Nick home.

Other thoughts: Shawn (aka Ryan Gosling) has it in the bag!

EDIT: @photokitty I just read the spoiler you posted! Ah now I want to read all the spoilers :):):)

I think the drama over her having sex and showing her talk about it being a mistake and crying and everyone being shocked is some serious slut shaming bullshit, frankly. Who cares if she slept with someone.

I'm pretty sure Bachelors have had sex with girls on the show (before the fantasy suite) and never even talked about it or anything. But ya know. That's ok cuz men have natural urges and they can't help it. They're entitled to all the sex they want with no repercussions. Women need to stay pure till marriage.... but then.... how do the men have sex?!!

I do agree, but I do think if it was known the bachelors had sex before the fantasy suite people would react negatively too. Remember all the hate Juan Pablo got when he was "playing in the ocean" with Claire, and then people gave him backlash for semi slut shaming her?

That being said, the start of this season is already gross in terms of depiction of women- pitting the women against each other, having the men choose, etc.

  • I think it's the fact that it's probably been hidden before with the Bachelors. I have a hard time believing that in all of the seasons, not one bachelor hasn't slept with someone before the fantasy suite dates. But with Kaitlin they expose and slut shame her?

This is true! Even Chris and Britt last season "hanging out" in his hotel room on their date...why wasn't that questioned a bit more?

I'm wondering if Kaitlyn was pressured to come clean or if she did it on her own..but maybe she didn't have a choice because the producers would just cut the show to make it seem like it. Then she'd be exposed for "hiding something." Sigh. She can't win I guess.
