Thurs(Fri)day!

It's my Friday! My boss told us that as long as there's coverage for our desks, to figure it out among ourselves and some of us can take the day off for free. My coworker has to come in so I get the day off!

I scheduled a massage for in the morning tomorrow and then I'm most likely going to have a lazy day.

On Saturday, I'm going to paint our guest room while H is at work. I have no idea what color yet. I'm just going to go to Home Depot and select one and call it a day. Saturday night, H and I have a housewarming party at his friend's house.

Sunday, we're going to a preview at "One World Observatory" which is the tippy top of the Freedom Tower. I'm afraid of heights so it should be interesting. Then we're having lunch at our favorite restaurant in Jersey City.

Monday we both have off and it's supposed to rain so it'll likely be a cleaning and laundry day in the Swazzle residence.

Yay for a 4 day weekend!

And yay for @hummingbird125 for being in the single digits!!!!!!!!

Re: Thurs(Fri)day!

  • I can't be too jealous of your 4 day weekend since I left work in the morning last Thursday and didn't come back to work until yesterday. I'm excited for another long weekend- I should be able to relax for this one.

    FI had originally taken tomorrow off when he thought he might go away for his bach party. He might keep the day off to get some stuff done for his groomsmen gifts. I really need to get a move on my gifts too! Anyone have any suggestions for parent gifts?
    So tomorrow night hopefully we will be hanging out on the couch together. I am so boring!

    Saturday is his bachelor party and it's just a shit show. I feel really bad but I can't wait for it to be over- there had been so much drama surrounding it for the past couple months it's ridiculous.

    Sunday and Monday we will both be off. Hopefully we will work on our ceremony, seating chart and table numbers, etc.

    So I just emailed FMIL to ask her to try to get in contact with a few people from FFIL's family who haven't RSVPd yet. She said she doesn't know how to contact them and if they didn't respond then to just put them as a "'no". Ummm..no, not doing that. Someone needs to contact these people and it's not my family. I'm annoyed.

  • @caseface5 nice job with WW!

  • @lavenderfields13 For our parent gifts, we got our "thank you letter" engraved into a silver platter for each set of parents. It was a sentimental letter that we wrote to all of them and my mom has is propped up in her dining room.
  • that's really sweet @southernpeach89 !

  • @Hummingbird125 SINGLE DIGITS!!!! YAY! I'm sure it will be here before you know it!

  • @Hummingbird125 Yay for single digits!!! So excited for you!
  • @swazzle jealous of your 4 day weekend.

    @southernpeach89 I hate having to deal with  homeowner problems, at least it's not a big one.

    @caseface5 yay for the success with WW

    @lavenderfields13 For our parents gifts we bought them each a lennox frame 8x10 when we got our wedding pictures we gave them a copy of one of our photos

    The weekend is almost here. thank godness!  Tomorrow night H & I are going to a friend's house help them move a couch then stick around for the Ranger's game and food.  Saturday I need to run a bunch of errands including Target, the veggie market, Jared to get my wedding band inspected and to Best Buy.  My lap top is dying and when I took it yesterday it seems like it will be more to repair so I'm getting a new one.  I really don't want to either, Oh well. Sunday we have no plans but I'm really hoping H will finally begin redoing the walkway in our backyard.  It won't take too long but I'd like for it to be done and over with so we can have people over.  Monday we are going to a friend's BBQ.  In between I'll be napping and studying.

    @Swazzle I wish I had your 4 day weekend! I guess I'm WFH tomorrow so it's almost (but not quite) as good!

    @hummingbird125 SINGLE DIGITS!!!!! I'm sending all the good weather vibes for next Saturday!

    @lavenderfields13 H and I made custom cutting boards and had a letter laser engraved on one of the surfaces. Then I got some fancy wrought iron handles to attach to them. We also gave each set of parents a photobook after the wedding (as a Christmas gift).

    @southernpeach89 I'm glad the leak isn't an active one! What a pain, but at least it isn't as bad as it could have been.

    Last night was supposed to be a "me" night because H had dinner plans, but it turns out he got the date wrong and that isn't until next week. So we ended up doing some yard work together and then I made my new favorite meal - black bean and butternut squash enchilada casserole. I doctored it up with a splash of ghost pepper sauce and it was perfect!

    Tonight we'll probably do some more yard work. Some of our bushes are a little out of control.

    @TwoDimes You know, you could always have a a bachelorette PPD in Atlanta with ME in case you don't get in enough partying. ;) Still sounds like a fun weekend! Although I'm not sorry not everyone is able to make it for the shower and bachelorette. Holiday weekends can be a blessing and a curse.

    @TwoDimes - Just this week. I'm working Tuesday-Thursday next week, unfortunately, but I seriously hope my boss sends me home early on Thursday because he'll know I'm mentally checked out anyway :-)

  • @Swazzle - Yay for a 4 day weekend!!

    @Southernpeach89 - Glad the damage wasn't worse.

    @casefrace5 - Congrats on the 3lbs!!

    @Lavenderfields13 - We did lay-flat albums after the fact.

    @Hummingbird125 - Jealous of your long weekend too.  So glad that your wedding is coming together and you're not stressing much over it!

    @Peaseblossom55 - Hope you get all your weekend errands done and find time to relax.

    @KeptInStitches - Can't wait to see some of those pics!

    @TwoDimes - You guys will still have fun with both parties!!  I know you're bummed about those who cannot be there, but be thankful of those who are there.  In the end you're marrying your best friend and those who are able to share the day with you are just icing on the cake.

    ************

    I'm back from Florida!  It was hot.  We had a lot of fun though.  All of our meals were great, which is a first for us! We arrived on Friday, went to Downtown Disney for lunch (Earl of Sandwich).  After that we went over to Magic Kingdom, rode a few rides, walked around, had dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern.  Rode a few more rides, called it a night a little early because we wanted to get to Hollywood Studios early on Saturday.

    Saturday we went to Hollywood Studios at 5:45AM thinking Ian McDiarmid (Emporer Palpatine) was signing, but he was not - thankfully just about everybody else did the same thing.  We got Amy Allen's signature though (she was in movies 2 and 3 for a total of like 5 minutes).  We just really walked around.  We ended up at Epcot for a bit for the flower and garden show (we only stayed for like 3 hours) and Herman's Hermits were playing, so we went to see that show.

    Sunday we went back to Hollywood Studios, basically for Star Wars weekends, anything you want to do you have to get there about 2 hours early, so we got to the parade 2hrs early and waited, went to the 1 show we wanted to see 2hrs early and waited, got a good spot for the fireworks and waited.

    Monday we went to Animal Kingdom, walked around had lunch at Yak & Yeti (highly recommend it, probably my favorite meal of the trip).  After that we went to Magic Kingdom and ended our day there.

    H mentioned that he'd like to scrap the cruise idea and do our anniversary at Disney (well it would be the week before because our annual passes).  I might still try to squeeze a 3-day cruise in there, but we will see.  I'm just a little tired of Disney to be completely honest.  I'd like to see the world.

    **Enough about Disney**

    I'm off work today and I'm back Friday.  I get to go on call for the 3 day weekend <boo!> so I have to stay close to places that I can get internet.  I'm going to try to see if somebody will cover me for 3 hours so I can get a bike ride in.  My legs are still a little sore from all that walking we did, but thankfully everybody seems to want to do a short ride.

    Other than that, no big plans.

  • Seems like the frame for parents is a popular choice. Thanks ladies.

    @TwoDimes FI never picked a BM and that's fine but one of his groomsmen decided he was pretty much in charge of the whole party (and we all wish he picked the other friend to be the BM so he would have felt like he had a little more say) and really hasn't been open to other people's suggestions. A couple of FI's work friends were supposed to be point people to tell other work friends what was going on and they never did and no work people are coming and most don't know about it. The plan has changed a million times and I don't know who can even make it anymore since it's a holiday weekend. They had a good plan and then changed it because the GM who decided he was in charge found out his dad's friend had a boat and would take them on it for free- so the plan was to just sit on a boat all day and do nothing but drink and play cards. And GM's dad was also going to come to hang out with his friend but FI's dad wasn't invited- and everyone was supposed to buy GM dad's friend and dad dinner. And then GM wanted to end the night with strippers on the boat- what strippers are you going to get to come on a boat and FI doesn't even care about strippers. Now the plan is to do the boat until the afternoon and then nothing planned afterwards- everyone is probably going to ask FI what to do and I don't think he should have to plan it himself. I just seriously can't wait until it's over!

    anyways! Sorry you're bummed about your shower and party :(  I know I'm pretty bummed about a few people that can't make it to the wedding who I 100% thought would be there. I just keep reminding myself that the day will go on and be great anyways!

  • @twodimes - I know it's sad when VIPs miss WR events (and the wedding!). Try to focus on the people that will be at your shower. And maybe instead of going to bars with the two DDs, find an activity you like to do? So it won't be so focused on you drinking? Maybe bowling? Painting pottery? And then get yourself to a city where an NEYer lives and they will show you a good time!

    @hummingbird125 - SINGLE DIGITS!!!!

    =====

    Tonight after work, I'm meeting a girlfriend to go see Age of Adaline. Then we'll go get a yummy dinner and a glass or two of wine. I have to work tomorrow (BOO).

    Saturday we are going to the Dave Matthews Band concert. It will be my 8th and I think DHs 56th. Should be a good time. We have no plans for Sunday or Monday. We might go to a baseball game, and spend some time cleaning out the basement. I'm sure there will also be movies, good food, and walks with the dogs.

    @TwoDimes I think there's nothing wrong with giving input on what YOU would enjoy. It's YOUR bachelorette and I think your sister should take your preferences in to account for sure. I'm sure she's aware of everyone's situations so I'd definitely suggest some pottery painting/bowling/nice dinner/etc.

  • @dignity100 I'm so jealous of your disney trip I haven't been in such a long time.

  • @jenjen044 my wedding band is great, we paid for a protection plan on it when we bought it.  So I have to get it inspected every 6 months to get it polished, check for loose stones and all.  It's a pain but worth it.  They also look over my engagement ring even though I didn't buy it there.

  • @speakeasy14 I hope you can move in ASAP!

    @speakeasy14 @jenjen047 I don't understand why she can't contact the family either- I know FFIL's sister would have contact info so I was assuming she'd say "Oh let me talk to SIL and get their info and find out", not "just put them as no's, there's some family drama going on". Their family drama is unfortunate but they can still have the decency to mail back the RSVP card I supplied them with a stamped envelope! There's really no excuse. And we have not asked his parents for any help whatsoever with the wedding (not that we should have) but I don't think asking them to call 3 of their family members should be an issue. I told her I am not putting them as no's until someone speaks with them and I need to know by Monday.

    As soon as we got engaged she also insisted on hosting the rehearsal dinner. Fine, that's generous. Me, her and FI had lunch at a restaurant that is close to the hotel we're staying at for the wedding. We all liked it. She called months ago to set up a reservation. The reservation is supposedly in the system but the manager told her to call back in April when the new menu came out so she could pick a few items and they would go over options. She has called twice since April and no one is responding to her and there is no plan yet. And apparently the business was sold so it's under new management. She just isn't very forceful - I'd be calling every day until a manager would speak to me because that's bad customer service. She said if she calls today and no one gets back to her then I can call and deal with them. The rehearsal is in 3 weeks. I mean, could you be a little more aggressive? Now I'm probably going to have to deal with the rehearsal dinner and that was the ONE thing I wasn't going to have to worry about. FI and I would have gladly planned and paid for it but she insisted.

    I'm feeling venty today, sorry guys!

  • @lavenderfields13 - vent away, thats what we are here for. that is very frustrating about the rehearsal dinner. its really not fair to offer to do something and then not follow through 100% on it. what does FI say about all this, since its his mother?
  • @jenjen047 I just talked to FI about it all and he's not surprised at all. I will handle it if I had too, I'm just so annoyed. My mom and I have also tried contacting 2 people by Facebook messages to see if they're coming to the wedding. They both read the messages and haven't responded. It's a Yes or No question people.

    @speakeasy14 - I think the company that does the food for the NJ Devils will be doing the food at the restaurant so we got an email about it for being season ticket holders. Omg without reading your post, I saw the picture and thought I was looking at BUGS.

    @lmcooper86 - COME AW YOUR WEDDING, WIFE!
