June Happenings

Re: June Happenings

  • @futuremrshistorian Reading fluff books for fun was one of the best parts of graduating. I went through and read all but like 2 of Nicholas Sparks' books after I finished my degree simply because they were light books that did not require any analysis. Reading for plot is fun! :) If you want to read some non-fiction written in a fiction style, Erik Larson's books are great. I also highly recommend Tina Fey's Bossypants if you haven't already read it.

  • @futuremrshistorian jealous of the ballet classes! No time for dancing right now.

    @alpacina thanks!

    Anniversary

  • OMG - @Peaseblossom55 - CONGRATS!  I'm so excited for you guys!  :)  I can't wait to hear your updates as well as @southernpeach89's.  Fingers, toes and everything else crossed that the testing goes well.  So happy for you guys!

  • @labro- Door County is a city in Wisconsin (known for boating, summer fun and cherries). Its just a little getaway.

    @Cu97Tiger - LOVE the countertops.
  • @peaseblossom55 CONGRATULATIONS OMG THAT IS SO EXCITING!!!!!

    In June for me not much is going on. I have my first Taylor Swift concert of the tour on the 13th and me and my friend are going all out for a chance to meet her. I WILL meet her!
    I have two HS graduations to go to, one for BF's best friend's younger brother and the other (more exciting one) is for BF's fencing seniors! BF is a high school fencing coach and this is the first class he's seen through from freshman to senior year and as a graduation gift I'm finally going to accept their facebook friend requests lol. And then a day later BF and his whole family is leaving for the Summer Nationals fencing tournament in Cali and will be gone for two weeks :(
    Oh and I'm gonna try to spend less time doing nothing and more time reading, making art (I used to do a lot of artsy stuff in high school and I miss it) and generally not being a lazy ass lol
  • @peaseblossom55 - CONGRATS!!!!! i saw that ticket in the giffy thread and i was like waitttttt a minute i think i missed something bc that was NOT there before. how exciting!!!!!!
  • So far, my plans look similar to yours. To add to my list, is to find a second job. I'm trying to get my own place this fall. :)
  • @eilis1228 - I've wanted to read Bossypants since it came out!  I also want to read Lena Dunham's autobiography, and Amy Poehler's.  Mostly I just want to read ALL THE THINGS.
  • Has anyone read Going Clear, the Lawrence Wright book about Scientology? I've talked to a lot of people who have seen the documentary, but so far haven't gotten to talk to anyone about the book. Holy hell, L. Ron Hubbard was a quack!! It's a bigger book, so I'm hoping to have finished that by the end of the month. Considering I'll have ample time at the beach, that isn't a stretch.

    @futuremrshistorian - Amy Poehler's book was "meh" considering how hilarious her comedy writing is. I kind of had to force myself to finish it. It was an extra disappointment because reading about her in Mindy Kaling's book was what made me want to know about her life! But she was just kind of a downer. Not what I expected.

  • @AlPacina - I was disappointed in Amy Poehler's book too! So glad I'm not the only one.

  • @Swazzle @AlPacina @futuremrshistorian I was also disappointed with her book. It was OK, but not amazing by any means. Some parts of it were great, but others were just meh. She spends a lot of time talking about how hard it is to write a book...

  • @AlPacina and @Swazzle - That makes me sad, because I love Amy Poehler so much!  I've been waiting to read it until I heard some reviews...maybe I won't buy it, but I might pick it up at the library (or go to Barnes and Noble and binge read for an afternoon).
  • @Peaseblossom55 YAY!! Congrats! So happy for you, and what a great reason to be tired!
    friends tv show funy
  • Aww Congrats @peaseblossom55!! So happy for you!!!!

  • @eilis1228, @AlPacina, @futuremrshistorian - I actually listened to the Audio Book version which may even have been a little better than the actual book because Amy narrated.

  • @TwoDimes I LOVE that song! We used it during recruitment for my sorority but it's a perfect wedding song!
  • @knockonwood5127 and @TwoDimes - I LOVE Rascal Flatts as well.  I actually met them in college when they were really starting to take off.  They all gave me a kiss on the cheek (which was bright red at that point) and are really, really sweet guys.
  • @TwoDimes @minskat30 I've seen them every summer for 10 years now! They are the group that really got me listening to country music - now that's almost all I listen to! I would LOVE to meet them one day!
