Survivor!

Ok so I am pretty late to this party! While looking for something to watch a few weeks ago the OnDemand commercials were showing Survivor 30: Worlds apart. I have never watched or had a desire to watch Survivor ever, but the premise of this season intrigued me. They split the tribes by white collar/blue collar/no collar and I thought it was an interesting concept and figured I would watch the first episode... which became 2,3,4... and I was hooked! H jumped in about half way through and since then we have watched a few more seasons!

Since there are 30 almost 31 seasons I can't justify watching all of them! Any Survivor fans out there? And what seasons were the best and any not to waste my time on? I looked up suggestions online and it appears I already watched one of the worst ranked ones (Nicaragua). And it seems the best rated ones have past competitors comes back... which I think I would enjoy more if I saw those players from their first season...

The few times I have mentioned this IRL I get some weird looks... do people still watch this show? Anyone else catching up on an older show?

I watched Survivor way back when they had season 1.. I can remember watching it religiously with my family growing up. Lost track of it for awhile.. But H and I are tv show nuts and like to binge watch shows and got into this one awhile back... We watched all of them. ALL of them... But then we lost interest and haven't watched the last few seasons. I would honestly watch season 1, it's by far the best... the first 10 seasons or so are all very similar, then they start having twists, etc. None of them stand out to me as "amazing" except the ones with Boston Rob in them, but I do remember Season 4 being awful... We didn't like anyone in that season so we weren't rooting for anyone. There's also a season with a "love to hate" character that was fun to watch... I think that was season 19.

Yikes.. I can't believe how much I know about Survivor! It gets repetitive sometimes but it's still always pretty fun to watch.

We randomly watched the 4th one he was on (22 - redemption island) and he drove me crazy! I hated how much control he had... but I started thinking maybe if I saw him the first 3 times I would be rooting for him more... So we went back to watch season 4 to see his first one and its not on Amazon Prime grrrr... then I figured we would watch his 2nd time (when I heard he met his wife) which is season 8.... and Amazon started streaming at season 9!!!

Yup, Boston Rob is a favourite of mine, and Rupert too.  He was a total pirate on his first season, which made it fun.  Can't think of any good seasons though, cos they all kinda blend together.  Personally, I love the all-star seasons cos they bring back lots of people I like.

Ditto what everyone else said. I've seen almost every season. I didn't see the first season Rupert was on (Pearl Islands maybe?). And I've missed a few others. But overall they get me hooked. The allstar seasons are the best, in my opinion. 

The ones Boston Rob are on, are good (not so much his first season, but it was so long ago I don't really remember). The ones with Parvarti are good (Cook Islands, Micronesia, and Hero's vs. Villians). And the ones with Russel H.

I started watching it randomly borrowing seasons from the library. They had a handful of the first seasons, so I have watched Seasons 1 and 2 and a few other of the super early ones. H accidentally subscribed us to Amazon Prime, so I've been watching more of them.

I really like the show.  I watch it mainly for the challenges, not so much for the drama and discussions around camp.  I really enjoyed Survivor: Palau.  It had a pretty awesome girl on there, Stephenie.  The first season was pretty good and the second.  I liked the worlds apart season as well. I also enjoyed the most recent season I watched where the groups were divided up by race.  I can't remember what it was called though.  It was pretty fun and had some cool and crazy characters. It's on Amazon.

I had the same feelings toward him at first, but I really started rooting for him at the end. I can't think of a stand-out season - they are all good!

I only watched Season 7 when it was on, but J really likes it and has watched them all, so now that we're together, I've seen the last two (Blood vs. Water and Worlds Apart) and am pretty hooked now, too.

If you're going to continue to watch current seasons, I'd suggest going back (like we just did) to watch Cagayan - there are a few people from that one that will be on the new Second Chances season this fall.

Seasons 25-current we have to pay $1.99 an episode! Not sure where to find them for free!

Seasons 25-current we have to pay $1.99 an episode! Not sure where to find them for free!

Season one.  It was before anybody realized how to play the game, so it's just amazing seeing people actually try to survive rather than connive.

I came late to the Survivor party too, I started because my old roommate really liked the show. But it's super fun and I always wish I had time to go back and watch old episodes.

I'm mostly commenting to add that for awhile the CBS app/site (like HBO Go) had all the seasons of Survivor available. I think it was like $10 a month, but that's not bad if you watch an episode or two a week. I haven't actually purchased it yet, was just remembering what the ads said.
