I'm probably asking a really silly question but I don't know what would be a better option for my bathroom baskets at my reception...would you ladies prefer (If you needed to change into flip flops at all) colored rubber flip flops or white padded terry ones?

  • Your bathroom basket... for the wedding? Or the home?  Rubber works for outdoors and I'd dig terry for bumming around the house.

Now I wish I were wearing slippers, actually. Thaaaanks.

    Yes for the wedding :)

I was thinking maybe the terry would be something people would bring home to putter around the house in.

  • I can't vote for either. The rubber ones (like Old Navy) are solid for easy slip ons and if you aren't walking much. But I really like the ones with the fat cloth strap and more substantial sole.

Last year I bought some LLBean ones that I'm obsessed with. These:

  • Idk why, but terry flip flops always annoy me. I like them in theory, but I feel like they usually are too squishy on the bottom. That might just be my experience with not-great ones, though.

But, if you put rubber flip flops in a bathroom basket, I might be concerned that you thought the showers weren't clean enough to go in barefoot...

    Still, I voted for rubber.
  • I voted for rubber, but I would not actually take them.   The few weddings i've seen, most people do not take them and the staff ends up with them (not stolen, the couple just gives them away).

I'm a flip-flop snob.   I refuse to buy Old Navy types.  I'm the one who drops $50+ on good flip-flops.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

Dude. Don't post links to cute things the day after I decide to get my finances in order.

OP, I think it depends. If people will be potentially going outside, rubber would probably be better. But the thought of putting on big cushy soft slippers after wearing an uncomfortable pair of heels is too amazing.

I'll also throw this out there, though; I don't think they're necessary at all. My BMs all were careful to pick out comfy shoes so they could dance all night in them, and the one BM who had non-comfy heels also brought along a backup pair of flipflops. Seems like my guests all did the same. One of the ladies even had hiking sandals on with her nice dress (which was adorable, if you know her personality, because it's just so her).

While providing sandals or whatever is a nice gesture, it seems like it could be a waste of money. Most adults know what a wedding entails, and they can choose their shoes accordingly.

I voted for your last option...because I wouldn't take either. ;) I pretty much keep my shoes on all night in spite of any foot related pain. I hate flip flops.

Love these flip flops!  I have 3 pair of them, including the blue with polka dots!

OP - I wouldn't bother with flip flops, a waste of money.  I make sure my shoes will be comfortable all day or I bring my own extra pair to change into.

REEFS 4 LYFE. But really. Cheap flip flops just eff up your feet. But if I were changing into them at a wedding, I'd go with the rubber ones.

I wouldn't be caught dead outside the house with a terry cloth flip flop anywhere on my person.

Lol I gave a pair of reefs to my male bridesmaid/bridesman/whatever you want to call him for part of his thank-you gift. The ones with the bottle openers in the bottom.

Seriously. Reefs are the bee's knees. And I've yet to meet an uncomfy pair. Even the cuter ones are still heaven.

I voted for colored rubber bc it was the closest option to turtles. No one cares about trains...turtles!

But honestly, I'd rather have rubber. Less likely to slip. Won't hold liquid if spilled on -YUCK!!

Ohhh I didn't even think of soggy squishy flip flops, GROSS!

    Rubber or nothing it is!

  • Rubber! I feel like theyre cleaner. The spill is gross, but I think of all the gross stuff you can step in as well...

  • I bring my own flip flops to weddings.

  • There was no turtle option. I vote turtles.

"I'm not a rude bitch.  I'm ten rude bitches in a large coat."

  • I vote none.  Unless you're splurging on some really nice flip flops, I find the cheap Old Navy type ones uncomfortable and would never take them.
  • I'm a flip flop hoarder (even the ON rubber ones) so I'd definitely take them but I probably already figured out my own a way to be comfortable for dancing so they'd probably just come home with me and get added to my collection.
  • The best flip flops I own are Crocs. <<< runs and hides >>>

  • Definitely rubber as they are more versatile (and you can never have too much color!)

I gave my bridesmaids and MOH havaianas and they loved them.

Honestly, though - how much do I love you for having Option #3? You just seriously made me giggle.
