The world's best creamy coleslaw recipe?

I've become obsessed with coleslaw recently, and have been looking for a good recipe.

Do you have one to share?

I have seen people suggest using both red and white cabbage, or just white plus:
carrots
mayo
vinegar (or lemon juice)
black pepper (or horseradish)
single cream (or sour cream)

Any preferences? Any recommendations?

Edited spelling.

  • I'm not a fan of coleslaw but everyone loves my MIL's recipe.

    Mayo (must be Duke's)
    Small amount of mustard
    Black pepper
    Very small amount of vinegar
shredded cabbage (I always just use white)

  • Mine is pretty similar to the recipe that @emmaaa posted, but with some sugar thrown in there as well.
  • Cabbage green and red carrots. I usually buy the bag.
    Green onion it's optional.
    Mayo
    Apple cider vinegar
    Sugar
    Salt and pepper

If I eat it on tacos I add a bit of cilantro.
  • Buttermilk works as a good sub for vinegar too.
    Daisypath Anniversary tickers

@cupcait927 That's right, sugar too! I knew I was forgetting something.

I think with somethings, like coleslaw, the simpler the better.

  • I'm obsessed with broccoli slaw right now. It consists of a bag of shredded broccoli slaw + 1/2 jar of "slaw dressing".
  • This is my favorite 'slaw' right now. The chipotle rance dressing is delicious

  • @emmaaa not sure I've seen Duke's mayo here in the uk :-(
Will try your recipe with a bit of sugar too.

Will post pictures once I do (probably this weekend)

    Thank you all!
