Damn the post office

I sent my invitations out 2 weeks ago this coming Tuesday.  All of the people I sent invitations to in Houston have not received them - that's 6 households.

Of course I will call the post office tomorrow and figure out what I can do, but has any had this happen where the post office lost invites for a whole city?  I'm guessing something must have happened en route at some point, but just seems weird that everyone in that city has not received my invite.

And I'm guessing the post office will only reimburse me for the postage, not the cost of the envelopes and invites as well?

I don't think you'll br reimbursed at all unless you sent your invitations as insured postage.

Did you have your finished invitations weighed and inspected at the post office so you could make sure you were putting the correct postage on them?

@banana468 yes I did have it weighed. Everyone else has received their invite, its just the people in Houston that didn't receive them.

@huskypuppy14 yes I know dumb question -I shouldn't expect anything from the post office but I wanted to be naively hopeful that I would get something out of them.

Did they get returned to you or have they just not been delivered? We've been having issues with certain zip codes. We had 3 returned to us for absolutely no reason at all and 4 people who got their invitations 4 weeks after we mailed them! It's so frustrating because besides for contacting the 100 people of our 300 person guest list individually, we have no way of knowing if the invitations made it! The post office blows!

I just got an invite in the mail for a wedding that was at the beginning of June. The couple had mailed them super early (dont ask me why) in December. It arrived along with 2 christmas cards.

I'm guessing this little parcel of mail fell behind the seat or on the floor somewhere, it was just so odd to receive 3 pieces of mail that were all sent out the same week, 6 months later.

I don't really know what your course of action would be, but if its only a couple invites, can you just toss a couple more in the mail? Just to cover your butt, as it could take forever to deal with the post office.

God, what are they, IRISH?!?!

 

PO will not refund postage. They'll show up eventually, but it could be in 6 months. Id either throw more in the mail, or follow up via phone later.
