reviews of the horror at Flamingo is making me freak out!

We booked out trip along with 12 friends (9 have never been to Vegas) back in February through orbitz. We have a Go mini suite and our friends are in Fab Deluxe standard rooms. I did check a few reviews when we booked positive great location, pool, affordable. Negatives then were just that it was out dated and long check in/out. However, I have been compulsively checking daily and it just seems to be getting worse, way worse. One main concern are the elevators! Not only getting stuck, skipping floors, but recent the fire dept. needing to let people out! I have already informs guests to do their research and choose accordingly. My bridesmaid Heidi tells me not to worry "it is what it is" won't spend much time there yadayada. At first, I was agreeing, but the more I think about it I really do foresee bitching in the future. I don't want people to have a horrible experience their first time. I get we'll sleep there and be out as about, but I still feel like where you stay can def. Impact people's trip. I feel responsible And feel impulsive to cancel hotel and stay elsewhere and eat the costs, which is going to be outrageous. Or do I just get over it..?

Thanks for the vent session

I wouldn't worry about it.  The GO rooms are nice but you do sometimes get ones that show a little more wear than you'd like.  Not a huge fan of the Fab rooms but they're not bad enough to worry about it.  Flamingo is a great value.  The fact that the interior of the casino, etc. is dated doesn't really bother me because I like old school Vegas, downtown, etc.  When I want to gamble, I don't care about my surroundings.

I stayed at Bally's once when they tested the fire alarm every morning at 9am; so you never know what's going to happen, no reason to worry. :-)

I've stayed at Flamingo before. It was fine - dated but super affordable. The pool was pretty nice, actually. You'll have a blast and be in and out of lots of hotels anyway. I really wouldn't worry. :)

Thanks guys! I have read the $20 trick works pretty well too. I need to just let it go and remember it's a place to stumble back to and refresh

I want to say I read somewhere that they are currently working on the elevators so maybe it's temporary?

We had about 25 guests stay there in April. It was fine. We did have issues with the elevators but nothing major..some just took a long time. I also did the $20 trick and it worked like a charm and they guy gave me back the $20 :) Don't worry about it..it will all be fine!

My future SIL stayed there in May and didn't mention anything bad! She said it was great for the price and location.

You're going to spend no time in the room, other than getting ready, and shit happens in all hotels. As long as you're not being stupid in the elevator and jumping or something, you'll be fine. Unless you have a bunch of guests who are really prissy and only stay at 5 stars, people are just going to be thrilled about the location and the awesome pool.
