Not Engaged Yet

Last week of summer (for me)

So it's my last week of summer (school starts for teachers next week here) so let's revel in it and make the most out of this last week! This weekend was great. We had an engagement event at a food truck place with H's work on Friday and it was fun and delicious. Saturday we worked on the house a bit and then watched big hero 6 which is such a great nerd movie. I loved if. Yes day, we did yard work and then watched baseball so a nice chill weekend This week I have some items on the agenda but hope to let some creative juices flow as well. So far: Today: I have a doctors appt since I'm still having gastro problems. While they have subsided a bit, I need to be better before school starts cause I will only realistically have 3 times a day to use the toilet... Tomorrow: teacher stuff in the morning (I'm hoping this is canceled), waxing and haircut in the afternoon (no idea what I'm doing to my hair yet...) and band in the evening Friday: four hours of training in the morning Any other suggestions? I might hit the outlets one day and then maybe go painting one day... What's your favorite part of summer that would be can't miss this week for me?
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton

    @Blue&White I hope you have a great last week of Summer. DH went back to work today...for pre-planning. I think his student's come on Thursday which is crazy to me.

    I feel icky this morning. One of my friends who had her baby last year told me that morning sickness comes back in 3rd trimester. I feel it this morning. I just hope it goes away by lunch time.

    This weekend was great! Friday I got a shit ton done! I woke up early and did CrossFit and then ran a bunch of errands. That night we had friends over for dinner and we made Tilapia and Caramel Apple Cheesecake bars which were NOMS!

    Saturday morning DH and I had our maternity pictures taken. She showed us a few and they looked really great. I'm excited to see the finish product. Afterwards we went and saw a movie called SouthPaw. My feelings were going nuts so I basically cried the whole movie. I'm a wuss.

    Sunday we slept in pretty late and I went over to my mom's house to help her with some things for this weekend. I decided on my curtain fabric as well. We visited the lady who is designing them and she showed us some other swatches for the ruffles that go underneath the curtains and we decided that the Polka Dot curtains would look best in the nursery. After seeing it up next to the quilt and then with the ruffles, we are SO excited about it! I can't wait until they are finished.

    Tonight I'm meeting a friend of mine for coffee. She just had a baby in March and she said she needs a break to have girl time away from baby and husband lol. So I'm glad I can be that relief for her.
  • @southernpeach89 oh man his preplanning is super short! We at least get a week (with a whopping 12 hours of actually planning time). I'm looking forward to school but yea definitely savoring the last week of summer! We also watched some of the cross fit games yesterday and H was all oh let's do cross fit and I was all yea no, but @southernpeach89 does it while pregnant! Baller, obviously. Also 57 days...nice!

  • @Blue&White Ugh CrossFit is becoming so difficult to do now. My belly is getting in the way lol so I just do lots of squats. I can't believe I'm 57 days away.....I can't think about it or else I'll want to leave work and go home and start doing things lol.
  • @Blue & White - My mom goes back to work next week, too.  She is sad!  It's awesome that you all get summer break though.  I'm sure you need it, working at a school and teaching is rough.

    @southernpeach89 - Hoping the yucky feelings go away STAT.  And I can't wait for you to AW your photos!!

    This weekend was crazy.  I don't know why I always look forward to summer and thinking, "oh we can relax and hang out and have cold drinks while lazing around the backyard" because every summer is so busy.  Wishful thinking, I guess.

    This week will be nuts at work... it's one of our biggest weeks of the year.  I anticipate I won't be around much starting tomorrow.

  • @caseface5 I totally loved your excessive HP emotion :) it will be ok! When you start book 1 again, everyone will be all back to normal! I don't now what to make of the new movie set in the same setting? Like HP but nothing to do with Harry? I would like it better if there were books first... @CocoBellaF I've determined that very few teachers use breaks for fun lol. Half of us are getting surgery we can't do during the year and half of us are saving money on daycare by watching the kids ;) though I went to st Lucia so I'm doing it right @southernpeach89 to even be attempting cross fit when a baby the size of a pineapple is inside you is quite impressive :)

  • @Blue&White that is crazy early to go back to school! When does school get out for you? Around here it's mid-end June (depending on snow days) and then most kids go back the Monday after Labor Day. I think the earliest they go back around here is the end of August.

    @Southernpeach89 I hope you feel better soon. I think every pregnancy and every person is different so I'm thinking morning sickness doesn't come back for everyone- hopefully! Maybe it's just an off day for you- hope it doesn't continue.

    My weekend was pretty uneventful. Friday night I fell asleep before H got home from work and I was too tired to wake up when he got home so I felt bad. Saturday I went to my cousins for a little cookout and ate too much food like always. I watched TV with H when he got home from work and then we lounged on the couch yesterday before going out to get dinner. He was going to try to go in and work over time yesterday but Sunday is the only day we get to spend together so he didn't. It sucks- we both wanted him to make the $$$ but wanted some quality time.

  • @Blue&White Thanks...I'm really trying not to become a mammoth even though going outside makes me want to cry because it's so hot and all I want is ice cream and cheese.
  • @Blue&White Summer is over already????? Wow that was fast.

    I am tired and crabby today.  I had a pretty good weekend and it got me out the funk I'm in about failing my test.  Friday night I ran a few errands and cleaned.  H blasted showtunes throughout the house to keep me motivated when he knew I was so tired. Saturday was our BBQ and with our cake we revealed it was a girl.  So yay everyone knows now.  The cake was so good and so pretty.  I forgot to get a picture of the cake it looked amazing, I have to get some from my friends.  Most people thought it was a boy so it was fun to see everyone's reaction.

    Sunday I did some studying and H & I went out shopping for baby furniture to get an idea of what is out there.  We didn't make any purchases yet, we did find a few sets that we liked.  We're not going to make any decisions until September though so we have time.  We did find a car set carriage travel system we loved.  We found no bedding that we liked either.  I got to order Panera for dinner last night, which made me happy too.  We also watched True Dectective.

    I rescheduled my exam this morning for September 1st, hopefully that will be the lucky date.  I also went to wear pants I wore to work last week and they no longer fit me.  Two pairs of pants later, I found something to wear to work.  Luckily I have more maternity clothes I ordered on the way.  I am pretty tired and I don't feel like doing any work at all today.  It kinda sucks but I hope the day goes by fast.

    Anniversary

  • @lavenderfields13 we got out early June this year but get out before Memorial Day this current year.

    @Peaseblossom55 lol I totally want some maternity pants just so I can always fit in them lol

  • @CocoBellaF Ice Cream with fresh peaches sounds amazing! I could definitely eat that right now.
  • @blueandwhite All of the maternity pants I bought are going to need to be drastically altered for length.  I"ve been trying to hold out on buying maternity clothes as long as possible.  I also think of the Friends episode when Joey wore the maternity pants for Thanksgiving dinner.

    Anniversary

  • @Peaseblossom55 haha I just bought jeans that were like 6 inches too long. But they were $25! So I need to alter them

  • I went to that BBQ for my friend's dad who passed. It was really fun, she had his pictures up but other than that it was just smiles and happy and like any other BBQ. Um this girl I haven't seen in 12 years since high school showed up....with her 5 kids. She was like "Most people are surprised that I have 5 kids". I was like "No- I'm surprised when ANYONE has 5 kids in this day & age!" hahaha. No thank you.

    Has anyone bought photo canvases? There are literally 10 different Group-ons for them and I can't decide which to go with- didn't know if anyone maybe had experience with any of them

    @blue&white whoa that is so early. It's like Sept 1t around here for schools. My summer must is an ocean day and seafood.

    @southernpeach89 Yay, can't wait to see one of the pics! I bet they are beautiful

    @caseface5 game looks fun!! And I love those lilies, have tattoos just like that!

    @peaseblosson55 yesterday must have been a shitty day for shopping because we also went out looking for new coffee tables and didn't find any that we liked

  • @jenna8984 haha we have 4 kids in my family but yea I don't know how parents do that many kiddos! I do know it's possible cause my parents are awesome but it's still surprising lol

  • Morning folks!

    Needless to say, that busy doesn't even begin to explain this weekend and up coming week!

    Friday was Matt's bachelor party. They went to a football game then bar hopped. Since the boys were away, one of my bridesmaids came over - I'll refer to her as B here. We had dinner and chit chatted. She ended up leaving at like 12:30am lmao Matt came home, drops the "oh btw I went to a strip club" bombshell. I wasn't pissed per say, because I'm okay with him going {just no back room} I was more upset cuz he would put up such a fight if it got brought up even jokingly, then he goes to one. Uhm ... what?

    Whatever, we stayed up chatting after he got home for about an hour and half - so we didn't crash until 4am {He woke me up btw}
    Had to be up at 8:30am for breakfast with family. We had to leave early, since didn't want him to drive.
    They gave us our cards ahead of time because there was money and they didn't want to take the chance someone could grab them.

    Saturday afternoon I did laundry and we both took a nap, then went to friend's place. Since Sunday was my bachelorette, C came to stay with me {she lives about 45mins away}
    Watched a movie at a buddy's place, then went home late. Crashed late again.

    Sunday was bachelorette, which was really just breakfast and getting our nails done. My mum, Matt's mum, A, B, C, and D {legit first initials of their names ahahaha} and I went. Anyone who got design - except for myself - got the same variation. I got shellac, and they're black with a red accent nail and a little bow as a design.

    It was so fun and relaxing. They gave me a photo album with a bunch of pictures and random quotes/inside jokes.

    My fave quote was from C {which is an inside joke/song}
    "you're the window
    to my wall
    the sweat that drips
    down my balls
    skeet skeet"

    I died laughing in the restaurant! Omg.

    I'm glad I got an album, cuz I really needed one for friends photos!

    Tonight is payment at venue. Tomorrow my mum and I and my friend D are doing dinner and movie deal and seeing Magic Mike.
    Wednesday I'll do laundry {ahahaha}
    Thursday I see T all day, then last hair trial from D
    Friday Matt and I see judge last time, and set up.

    SATURDAY IS WEDDiNG!!

    Soooo busy! I guess that's normal lol
  • Good morning everyone!!

    @blue&white sorry your summer is ending so soon!

    @southernpeach89 57 days!!!!! Also I cry for like every movie and I'm not even pregnant so don't feel bad lol

    @Peaseblossom55 I love that episode of Friends!! And sending you September 1 test vibes!!

    I know I said I was hoping my weekend would be uneventful but I was mistaken lol

    Friday night after work I wound up going out for drinks for BF's sister's birthday. I originally thought I couldn't make it because it was just gonna be dinner but then BF texted me that they went out to a bar so I joined them. He actually kinda annoyed me, first he told me they were at one place but then he said they were going to another... They just didn't know where. So I was like I don't understand, where do you want me to go? And he was just super vague and I started to get a little bitchy. Like do you want me to just drive aimlessly around Queens until you figure it out? Anyway, I met up with them eventually and hung out but only had a beer. The guys all left for his brothers house early and so I drove the rest of us a little later. While looking for parking I misread a sign and got a ticket for making an illegal u-turn even though I was REALLY nice and apologetic.

    Saturday I was off work so I went to the gym in the morning and then hung around the house for a while, not much to report lol.

    Yesterday at work I learned that we had plans to go out east but I didn't know that... I had planned on getting some school work done and stuff but instead I got ready and headed out with BF and his family. It was a long day lol.

    Today I'm really tired. I hate waking up at the crack of dawn for work but that's what I've done for the last two days. After work I'm going to the gym and then going home to take a nap. I'm working every day this week because I need extra money so I'll be at my friends store on my days off. Probably gonna do at least one day a week for the next few months so I can pay off my credit cards and save the rest for my Thanksgiving trip. So far it's looking like Boston for my anniversary is not happening :(
  • @jenna8984 I've used photo canvases and photo books through Groupon.  I honestly used a different one each time (just went with the best deal).  I didn't have issues with any of them.

    @southernpeach89 I can't believe you're still doing crossfit, that's incredible. Can't wait to see your maternity pictures!

    @blue enjoy your last week off! I can't believe summer is almost over and I haven't enjoyed it yet.

    @cocobellaf homemade peach ice cream sounds amazing

    This weekend was busy.  Friday we ended up not going to the game because we needed to finish the bathroom tile.  The wet saw broke with a row left so that is getting finished today.  By this weekend we should be able to live in the house.  We're going to do a deep cleaning and move in the rest of the furniture while the grout dries.

    Saturday was my friend's bridal shower.  She was completely surprised.  Funny thing was I didn't know it was a surprise and we hung out Friday night.  Luckily, I didn't say anything about the shower.  She loved the cutting board.  So much that she put it on display behind their bar (said it was too pretty to use).  The wall behind their bar is now called the Wall of Speakeasy because it is all things I have given/made for them.

    Yesterday was my dad's birthday party.  It was super awkward.  It was all of his wife's friends and family.  They made us play a bunch of games like you would at a baby or bridal shower.  One of them was a trivia game about my dad.  Every single thing my siblings and I answered was wrong, and my dad said his wife must have guessed the answers.  Another was we had to pretend we were in high school with my dad and leaving a message in his yearbook.  One person came over and asked my dad who his high school science teacher was, and who his best friend was.

    Only thing planned for the rest of the week is house stuff.

  • @jenna8984 & @blue&white I'm one of 7 and BF is one of 5... its possible lol
  • @blue&white - Have a great last week of summer! My only can't miss for summer is camping/hiking.

    @peaseblossom55 - I hope your mood improves as the day goes on or the day at least goes by quickly for you!

    ------------------------------------------------------------------
    I'm not in a good mood today. The closer we get to August the more I have to come to terms with the fact that I won't have a teaching job for the fall. I'm still kind of hoping something will pop up last minute like it did last year. I also really need to start studying for the GRE so I can apply to PhD programs by December. I'm just really worried I won't get in anywhere so I've avoided prepping my applications (which I realize is totally counter-intuitive).

    This weekend was alright. FI and I went camping but the campground ended up being ridiculously crowded because there was some church retreat thing going on. They were really loud and obnoxious all weekend so that put a damper on things. But we still had a pretty good time. We did a couple of hikes and the second night the really big group went to bed early so it was quiet and relaxing around the campfire.

  • Morning all.  I'm feeling sort of cruddy today so not sure I'll be on much (I'm working remote in case I'm sick).  My family came over this weekend to help us grade our house and the kiddos were sick.  I catch pretty much everything all the time so I'm not sure if I caught it or if I just over did it in the sun.  Either way, just wanted to say good morning to all.

    @Blue&White I feel your pain. I go back next week. Kinda bummed, and I still have SO much stuff to do... :(

    This weekend was good. Saturday I got to have a pool day with my best friend while BF fished a kids' tournament with his nephew. Then my dad and I went to watch the weigh in with BF's family. Yesterday was the start of BF's revival, so we did church yesterday morning before having lunch at one of our favorite places and spending the day with mamaw. We'll have church probably all week this week unless revival ends sooner.

    Today, his dad is putting tires on for me. SO thankful that his dad can do that for me. My poor dad has been working like crazy and is so, so tired.

    I'm feeling kinda blah today. Super overwhelmed with all I have to do, but I have zero motivation.
  • @minskat30 feel better

    @bethsmiles thanks!

    @untouchablets Thanks for the vibes! only 5 more weeks to go......

    Anniversary

  • @untouchablets holy shit. I don't even know if I have that many cousins hahaha

  • @jenna8984 I'm the oldest of 4. We always thought my family was huge until we met my BIL's family. His dad is the youngest of 11.  My sister had 180 at her wedding, majority being her husband's family (I think there was 60 total from mine).

    Yeah there's a dozen of us if you put us all together. It's really crazy to think about but I like knowing that my kids will have a lot of cousins to play with lol. I'm the oldest and he's the middle. It's nice to have a lot of siblings cause it's like automatic friends! even though mine are all still kids except two lol at least my mom isn't expecting grandkids for a while :)
  • @untouchablets the best thing about a big family? When they all get married. There are ten immediate family members on my side now lol

    @bethsmiles lots of good teaching vibes to you!!!!

  • @Blue&White and @southernpeach89 I can't believe summer break is almost over and teachers are already reporting back. That is insanity. I feel like school let out yesterday!

    @southernpeach89 Oh no! I'm so bummed morning sickness is returning for you, especially in this heat. :( I really hope today is a fluke and you feel fantastic through the rest of your pregnancy.

    @caseface5 What a great weekend! Love the pics of the steak too--YUM!

    @CocoBellaF I know what you mean about a busy summer. All of our weekends in August are already full. All of our weekends in July filled up a month ago. Summer is the opposite of relaxing.

    @lavenderfields13 I'm glad you guys got to spend some quality time together on Sunday!

    @peaseblossom55 I'm sorry to hear about your test :( It sounds like you had a wonderful weekend to make up for it though. The gender reveal party sounds so fun!

    @jenna8984 I'm so glad the BBQ was a happy one! I bet your friend really needed that.

    @speakeasy14 OMG that birthday party sounds sooo awkward, especially with the weird answers. Wow. I'm glad you had a great time at the shower! I'm glad your friend loved your gift. :)

    @bethsmiles I took the GRE right before it was restructured, but here's the small bit of advice I can offer from my own experience-- If you have enough time to prep, you will be fine. Get a few prep books and some of the vocab flash cards, and STUDY the math. The vocab is virtually impossible to truly study for-- they pull from a word bank of a ridiculous number of words, so you can study your heart out and still get words you have no clue about. Study the prefix and suffixes so you can use context clues on them, but otherwise, don't put a ton of energy into that portion. Instead, focus on the math. I remember a lot of specific geometry theorems and algebra problems that I hadn't done since high school being on the test. It was really bizarre. I took the test twice (and only had about 6 weeks to do all this before my grad school applications were due... didn't figure out I wanted to go to grad school until the last minute), and the first time around I didn't focus as much on the math. My overall score the first time was a lot lower than I wanted. I took the test again about two weeks later (which fell in a different calendar month), and I focused heavily on studying for the math portion and raised my score by like 150 points. It was incredible. So, anyway, that's my novel about GRE prep. You got this! I promise!

    @minskat30 Feel better soon!
    ---------------------------------
    Holy moly, you guys. I had SUCH a productive weekend. I need a day to recover from it. Bullet points for an overview:
    • Friday night my little brother came over. He was supposed to go on a date, but his date blew him off at the last minute, and he was feeling really bummed about it. I invited him over to just hang out with us so that he could get out of the house. We went to dinner, went to Joann's so FI could get some stuff for his GM gifts, and then we played a few card games at the apartment.
    • Saturday we went suit shopping with our GMs and my parents! We had lunch with everyone and then walked over to this place called Suit Supply. We had the absolute worst customer service there. It was unreal how bad it was. The guy initially refused to even try suits on my brother because he didn't think they had something small enough to fit him. We insisted he at least try the smallest size they had, and lo and behold it fit him perfectly. FI got his suit there with no issues, but our GW and our BM could not be accommodated. I'm going to write a bad review of this place online once we get the suits.
    • We spent the rest of the day at the nearby mall searching for suiting options for our GW. Who knew charcoal was so difficult to find in a woman's suit? 5 hours later we went to Macy's and found one on sale for less than $100. It was a miracle! We were all EXHAUSTED, so it couldn't have come at a better time. Then we went to the men's department and quickly found a suit for the BM on sale too. It was such a good price that we convinced our GMs who were renting to buy that suit instead.
    • Saturday night we had dinner with our BM and then we all went over to our friends' apartment to hang out. @audrewuh joined us, and it was so nice to see her! She's been out of town for a week, and I really missed her.
    • Sunday we met up with the rest of our GMs for lunch and suiting at Macy's. They found really nice suits, and we used coupons to get an additional 40% off the suits. Woot!
    • The rest of Sunday was spent running errands, working out, cooking dinner, and making progress on my quilting and knitting.
    Tonight @audrewuh is coming over, and FI and I are going to make her some of that delicious sous vide chicken. I'm really excited about it! I'm also going to have her help me out a bit on the quilt I'm working on. Other than that, should be a really nice, chill night with her and FI.

    Question for OMHs and those planning weddings: suggestions on a father-daughter dance song? My dad wants to do Butterfly Kisses, but that's his song with my sister, and I told him we should opt for something different. We've both been brainstorming off and on all weekend, but I thought I'd see if any of you guys danced to some really great songs. I associate Elvis with my step-dad, but I don't think any of Elvis's songs would really work.
