No couch for movies

Anyone else ever tried to do something while your FI was out of town and not have it done by the time they got back? I seem to have the worst luck with and it has happened again...

I wanted to sell our couch and get a new one that I liked better, nothing wrong with ours, I just want a change. So I told him I put it on craigslist and will only get a new one if I sell ours for what I want. Well it has been two weeks and nobody has asked about it, now FI is coming home to visit THURSDAY and I have 5 different people asking me about it! Long story short, sorry FI, you might be coming home to no couch in the living room.. whoops! I thought I had until September, now we might have to share the one recliner when he gets here.

  • We never sit on the couch together anyway, so this just gives you more reason to stay in bed!

I like your thinking! I just always plan this crap like "Oh well, it's just me and the dog until X date and I can live with that" and it just never works out right time wise!

If someone tries to buy it now, can you just tell them they can't pick it up till next week? I mean they can't need it immediately. Couches are not an emergency.

FWIW when H and I first moved in together we didn't have a couch and couldn't afford one yet, so we sat on a pile of blankets on the floor. At the time it was not ideal, but now it's one of our favorite memories. Us and our dogs, all on the floor in a big pile.

and ETA you could always blow up a big air mattress and cuddle up to watch movies from there. SIL said she did that with her husband when they were both super hungover one day and it sounded like a brilliant idea to me.

Love that story, it's so awesome to have that time when you first move! When we first moved into this house our stuff was in a POD and we didn't get it for two weeks. We had bought a new mattress so we had that on the floor, one TV on a tote and our clothes. The house was completely empty other than that and it was kind of fun camping out! I figure FI can deal if it's gone when he comes home, it just always seems to work out this way that I try to plan stuff so that time wise it all works out but it never works the way I plan.
