Re: What're you guys making for dinner tonight?

  • @DaniBites I think I may have to buy cauliflower and try that! We have an apt but a tiny grill/panini press that it could work on .... and now I want cauliflower

We took out sausages last night but after doing running around, we ended up picking up food. So he should cook that tonight. I've got a coffee date with my mum so I'll grab a snack.
It's hot as balls out, so it's hard to say what'll happen.
I'll let you know how it turns out!  I'm a little weary of venturing outside of the air conditioning to grill them...

  • It's so hot out today that I really don't want to cook even though I should since I went to the supermarket and bought a bunch of groceries yesterday. I am thinking about just stopping by this delicious Mexican restaurant for a pulled pork burrito bowl to go...

I will be cooking more next week though I just signed up for Blue Apron so I am pretty excited about that.

I've done them (the cauliflower steaks) in the oven drizzled with olive oil and parmesan and they were delicious :)

  • J made his amazing sweet potato soup last night (sweet potato, carrot, ginger, garlic, etc).  I would seriously eat that as my last meal if I were on death row.

I'm on nights now, though, so my supper consisted of a bowl of cereal.  You've got me craving cauliflower now, though, so tomorrow I'm going to roast some with garlic.

Or maybe I'll get J to do that for when I get home tonight, since he just texted to say he was bored.  It's totally normal to eat garlic cauliflower at 2:30 in the morning, right?

I like this. I think we need to start an "AW your dinner" thread for everyone to post pictures of their food. I'll start one as soon as I cook something delicious and beautiful...
  • I  have a top round London broil that I've been marinating for two days. I'm going to grill it rare with vidalia onions, red and green bell peppers and summer squash. I'll make some kind of rice from my collection of rice mixes.

  • Tonight is my second dress fitting, after which I'm going out to eat w/ my mom, where I plan on eating ALL THE FOOD because I won't be eating a lot before the fitting.

This sounds lovely, but I recommend eating before the dress fitting because being hangry and/or hypoglycemic and/or lightheaded at a fitting would be no fun whatsoever. JMHO.

Oh I'll eat lunch and my normal afternoon snack... it'll just be on the light side (lunch is a salad).  The fitting is at 7:15 and it should only take about 45 min (first one took an hour and that was with all the pinning and stuff).  We normally eat between 8 and 9 anyway.

Oh man, I had no idea how long my initial dress fitting would be and while I had breakfast, my fitting was at noon so my mum and I figured we'd grab lunch afterwards. An hour and a half of standing still in this tiny room and I was feeling so shitty. I just wanted to get the dress off of me, which made me sad because I love that freaking dress and want to wear it as often as possible...

Wow, my dress fittings were all under 15 minutes. I went to this tiny hole-in-the-wall tailor run by a group of little old Spanish-only speaking men and one flamingly gay assistant who did all the translating between them and the customers. They were SO efficient and SO good. I kinda miss them and was sad at my last fitting!

Oh yeah that's crazy!  My alterations are at the same place as where I bought the dress and I think they run a pretty tight ship w/ the schedule (it's a huge shop), especially in the evenings.  I think tonight I'm the last appointment too, so they'll probably want me in and out!   I'm hoping all fits well and the main point of this appointment will be teaching me how to sit in the dress (shouldn't be too hard as it's a narrow A-line), and showing my mom how to do the bustle (1 point).
