Re: AUGUST!

  • What are you looking forward to this month?

    - My family is visiting this weekend! I feel like I haven't seen them in forever, when really its only been since June. But my mom, dad, sister, brother-in-law, and adorable 3 year old niece are all coming and they're bringing my piano! I'm going to only play piano for the rest of the month!

    - On the 20th my aunt and uncle from South Dakota will be on the west coast and we're going orca watching in northern WA.Then the night after BF and I are heading to Vancouver, BC. I found us a cool hotel near this awesome market, and they do a night market on Friday nights with live music and tons of food and stuff. It will be an awesome long weekend, and I'm so excited to see my aunt and uncle for the first time in over a year.

    - More Blue Apron recipes. I'm loving it!

What are you not looking forward to this month?

    - Having to work on weekdays.

    - Not being able to play piano while I'm at work.

What are your goals for the month of August?

    - Buy more furniture.

    - Learn more cooking techniques.

    - Paint over the ugliest wallpaper in the house.

  • What are you looking forward to this month?
My birthday.  Picking peaches.  That's all I can think of.  August will hopefully be a quiet month.

What are you not looking forward to this month?
My IL's get here tomorrow.  It's not that I am not looking forward to them being here per se, but it is definitely stressful and we're always worn out when they leave.

What are your goals for the month of August?
    Sleep more.
Clean up the backyard and garden and flowerbed.
    Run more.

    I sound super boring.
  • What are you looking forward to this month?
    - Meeting a bunch of NEY ladies this weekend and allll the mimosas!!
    - Musikfest (for those who have never been, it is a week long festival in Pennsylvania.  There are all types of artists, musicians, and entertainers, plus beer and wine tents. We usually go one or two nights each year.  My company is hosting a private event this Friday that overlooks one of the stages, because one of my coworkers is in one of the bands.
    - My niece's baptism
    - Getting to the beach before summer is over
    - Finalizing vacation plans
What are you not looking forward to this month?
    - Classes restarting (but I graduated in December and then will be done with this nightmare of a University)
What are your goals for the month of August?
    - stick with yoga and regain my flexibility
    - finish the house - start on the yard - refinish front & back porches

  • Time has flown this year!  I don't know how it is August already.

What are you looking forward to this month?
-H and I are meeting up with some friends next weekend...and the following weekend we have a birthday party for my nephew and niece which is nice.  :)

What are you not looking forward to this month?
-Paying bills...between the new electrical panel and sidewalk repair we will be out $5,000.  Home ownership sucks sometimes.

What are your goals for the month of August?
-Meal planning, consistant working out and hopefully some more weight loss.
  • @alpacina definitely remove the ugly wall paper.  We removed ours with vinegar water and it mostly peeled off. Then used a scraper to get the remaining pieces.  If you cannot remove it all, get a primer called Killz.  Use that are your primer and then buy whatever paint you want.

  • @speakeasy14 & @jenna8984 - Thank you so much for saying that! I've always thought it was a bad idea (especially because I can see a couple of areas with bubbles, too). BF is all for it, but I'll work extra hard to convince him to remove it first. We're just doing white, so it shouldn't be too bad!

  • What are you looking forward to this month?
Beach days, possible day trip, Boston NEY GTG!, getting back to work!

What are you not looking forward to this month?
Even though I want to go back to work- I don't want to have super long days. Back to school shopping will probably be too much $ too. It is what it is.

What are your goals for the month of August?
I definitely want to be more productive each day that I have until I go back to work on the 27th. I also hope to get my name changed on more official things. Thankfully I have started, but there's just so much to change.
  • @jenna8984 I can't stand it when people are all into fall as soon as September hits. Plus I hate waking up and my floor is so cold. And a guaranteed sinus problem.
  • What are you looking forward to this month?
    Brunch this Saturday!!!

What are you not looking forward to this month?
Nothing really. August is usually boring, but BF is leaving me for vacation for two weeks so mostly that lol

What are your goals for the month of August?
Make as much money as possible so I can pay off my credit cards, lose 5 more lbs, and convince BF to go to Boston for our anniversary! Sometimes I think he'll agree and other times I'm not sure so I'll just keep bringing it up
  • What are you looking forward to this month?
    - Starting my teaching job!
    - Potentially leaving my current job.
What are you not looking forward to this month?
    - Studying for the GRE
What are your goals for the month of August?
    - Lose 5 lbs.
    - Finish Game of Thrones and The Casual Vacancy (I've been reading it on and off for months now) and read at least one more book after finishing those.
    - Find a part time job I can actually enjoy.

  • Also @jenna8984 - after you close on your house you know you have to invite all us NEY girls over!!
  • @labro - It's going to be in the low-to-mid 60s when we're there. I requested fall/layering pieces in my Fix that should be here by Friday! I'll probably mostly wear jeans/skinnies with tanks and cardigans most of the time when we're in Cape Town. The safari will probably be all yoga pants and sweatshirts. The game drives are really early in the morning and in the early evening so it gets pretty cold on those with no sun and riding in an open vehicle. On our HM, I overpacked SO badly. I think I wore like 1/4 of the stuff I packed. I was like "It's my HM and I want to be a fancy married lady, so let me pack all of these dresses and heels!" I don't think I wore a dress on the whole trip and I definitely didn't wear any heels. CT is very laid back, it suits us very well! I think I'll be much better prepared this time around :)

  • @jenjen047 Oh heck yea, party at my house! And by party I mean dinner, talking about your wedding plans, and going to bed by 10pm ;)

@untouchablets What the heck, where is he going without you?

    @labro When's your birthday?

@swazzle H & I made fun of people on our honeymoon. They were on our bus from the resort to the airport and they had 1 carry-on suitcase each, 1 huge suitcase each, and a duffel carry-on each. 6 bags for 2 people. Really? It's an all inclusive in Jamaica- what the hell do you need? We each had a carry on size roller and that was even more than needed. I wore like 5 items including bathing suits and a pair of flip flops lol. Obviously you'll need more for safari and cooler weather but it astounds me how much some people pack (and pay for baggage fees).

  • @jenna8984 he and his family go to the outer banks in NC twice a year. I went with them this past April but I can't take two weeks off work to go this time around. I'm always invited though don't worry lol.
  • @jenna8984 - The last time, we each had a large checked bag, I had my big purse, and H brought his camera backpack. So, we weren't TOO bad but I definitely know better now hahaha

Hot destinations are always the easiest to pack for! A couple bathing suits and coverups and a few dresses for at night. DONE!

  • What are you looking forward to this month?
    My birthday next Monday
Meeting some Knotties on Saturday finally
Seeing An American in Paris on Sunday
Hitting the halfway mark of being pregnant
H's family's  BBQ at the end of the month
20 week scan of Baby peaseblossom on 8/20

What are you not looking forward to this month?
A full month of studying ahead of me

What are your goals for the month of August?
    Stay focused on studying
Eat healthier, find more time to cook.
Get started on a local prental yoga class

    Anniversary

  • @untouchablets Oh that makes sense!

@southernpeach89 oh what part of SC are you going to? I love Myrtle and my parents live in Columbia. I'd love to check out Charleston one day.

  • @jenna8984 My birthday was on July 28th. You must've missed me coming in the daily thread on last Tuesday and being a huge AW about my birthday. ;)

@Swazzle That weather sounds divine!!! Please AW your Fix when it arrives!

  • @jenna8984 DH's stepdad is from Clemson, SC so we are visiting family over by that area. They have property on Lake Hartwell so we will most likely go to the lake and hang out there. Charleston is beautiful! You should definitely go! I've been twice and I've discovered new parts each time. Lots to see and do.
  • @labro Oh derrrr your trip to Fingerlakes and NYC. And the amazing ice cream- how could I forget?!
