Wedding Recap and Withdrawal

SWEET!

This post is a piece of cake! ;) Post a picture (or a few!) of your main edible feature!

We had a Hello Kitty cake topper (with Dear Daniel!) since I'm so Hello-Kitty obsessed. A colleague of mine made the cake EXACTLY how I described - something simple, something orange & pink, and something "me." Don't you love the Hello Kitty server too (last picture)?

I can't wait to view all your pictures! :)

[QUOTE]I appreciate that you're trying to keep the board active. Especially on a Friday when I'm super bored. This was my cupcake tower - four types of cupcake (coconut cream, red velvet, banana nut, and vanilla) with a coconut cream top cake for cutting. Note to brides-to-be: the red velvet cupcakes went like crazy. They were gone in about a minute, and the rest lingered. So, yeah. Apparently everyone loves red velvet.

OOOH! Love the tower! (and I freakin' LOVE cupcakes!!) - red velvet is so amazing! I just Costco-sheet-caked it for everyone else - I so wanted to do Costco cupcakes, but my Costco doesn't do them (yes, "my" - I personalize stores! lol). Yeah, I'm on my prep period, so I figured I'd try to create another "picture" post! :)
  • We didn't have an offical topper for our cake. While we didn't want to do a full 'geek' wedding, we wanted something as nod to at least one of our geeky hobbies. So, we had a D&D cake. Basicly, he had this huge red dragon figure for a couple of years now, and I had commented that it was a shame it was too heavy for the top. He said why not put it behind? So we ended up with the idea of several of our character's minis climbing a marble temple ruins to fight this giant red dragon. We also kept it a surprise from all our friends and family, which ended up making it even better. Of course, the best part was that it was a white chocolate pound cake, which was HEAVENLY!

  • Thanks. ^_^ Our baker helped with some the detail ideas (it was her idea to do the ruined towers, for example, because she had some sugar molds already and just broke some of them to scatter them around) and did an awesome job, both with the decorating and the cake itself. And apparently, the WC had to shoo everyone away from taking pictures of it when we were ready to come into the reception area. XD

I made my wedding cake! In our toaster oven (no working oven in our old place) the day before our wedding, haha- the perks of being both cheap and vegan...those specialty cakes are expensive! I made red velvet cake with vanilla buttercream frosting and some edible rice paper flowers and leaves. My caterer also made non-vegan red velvet cupcakes with vanilla buttercream and white chocolate ganache. Unfortunately, I don't have a pic of those. I loved our cake topper though (my H and I met at camp.)

Oh my gosh! How stinkin' awesome!! Well-done!!
  • Here's mine. My aunt and I baked the cakes, and then I painted them. I made the squirrel caketopper from polymer clay.

  • We had a bunch of cupcakes and cake drops. They were delicious... or so I'm told. I was too busy to eat more than half a cake drop. But my guests loved them! Especially my gluten free guests, who were just really excited they could participate in the dessert eating.

  • Oh I like this thread! Here is our cake. My baker followed my vision to a T. She hand painted the palm leaves with green food coloring. We had a tropical theme. The cake flavor/type was called Strawberry Shortcake. Absolutly yummy. Yellow cake with layers of whipped cream with fresh strawberries. I had my florist leave fresh orchids and palms to use on and around the cake to tie in.

Schmancy! :) I totally dig it!! EVERYONE'S pics are SO gorgeous!! :D And I'm assuming EVERYONE loved their cakes/cake products! :)
  • I love these photo threads! My mom made our cake exactly the way we wanted it: chocolate, with no fondant. So good. :)
  • We did cupcakes as well... Our top layer was red velvet with buttercream frosting. Our cupcakes were red velvet, pumpkin, chocolate and vanilla. We had a different color flower for each flavor with a mini menu so the guests knew what flavors they were getting.

This second one is from the baker. I can't find the one of the whole table that my photog took. As much as I love my pics, I don't fell like going through all of them to find it. lol.

This post is making me want a piece of our cake again! It was a delicious white chocolate and dark chocolate layered mousse cake with raspberries, covered in buttercream and a blue fondant ribbon.

Scooterpie7, your cake is beautiful! I love that you hand painted it yourself!

    Here's our cake

We had a candy table too! A friend of ours volunteered to purchase all the candy for us (with the budget we provided her) and she let us borrow the containers she already had from her daughters wedding, and set everything up the day of. She did an amazing job and everyone loved it!
